Today was a special occasion marking both a family reunion and the celebration of one members acceptance to graduate school. OpenTable let me down leading me to believe that this is a good restaurant. Food was incredibly spicy, seeming as if the chef accidentally spilled all remaining spices into the dish. Water glasses were left empty during the duration of the meal. Dessert menus were brought to the table halfway through the main course. The waiter proceeded to ask us if we were ready to order before we even finished eating. Overall one of the worst meals I’ve had, which leaves no question as to why the restaurant was empty on a Friday night.

I made reservations at LaRue Elm for a party of 9 for a birthday brunch. The reservations process was very simple and the hosts were easy to work with and they were able to get us in easily. We went in on Saturday before Mother's day and unfortunately they did not tell us that they would be serving a limited Monther's day menu on Saturday as well but that was no big deal. We were able to sit right down and the server was attentive at first, coming in and checking on us and getting everyone drinks. We were waiting on one latecomer who arrived 15 minutes after our reservation time but by the time they arrived the server was no where to be found and this was the case for the rest of the meal. He finally returned and took our order but was very snippy to multiple guests in our party who had simple kitchen requests such as an extra hard poached egg and regular bacon on their sandwich as opposed to Canadian bacon. We finally received our food nearly 35 minutes later which seemed much longer because every time we asked for a coffee or mimosa refill it took ages for our server to return which was a little strange being that we didn't see but two other tables in the entire restaurant. Luckily there was a sweet gentleman who I think was a manager who began helping our original server. The food was fine, some plates better than others. I personally had the chicken and waffles and my chicken was over cooked and dry and my waffle was drenched in syrup and soggy by the time I got it but my friend got the eggs Benedict and I had a bite and it was delicious. We had to ask multiple times for salt & pepper, drink refills a to go box and finally the checks. Overall it was a disappointing meal especially being that it was a special occasion and the prices defiantly aren't cheap.

The menu was limited but the offerings were broad enough to please most people. The food was very good with attractive presentation. The service was fair - our server seemed distracted and was slow getting back to us.

Fantastic food and service. Modern clubby decor. Only a couple of other tables had diners so this LaRue on Elm must be a secret. If words gets out how good the food is it should be tough to get a table.

We were a party of five. Arrived on time. Table was ready, however, it was a HUGE round table (more like you'd find in a corporate setting, rather than dining)...we asked to be moved to a 4-top and we'd pull up a chair and they were perplexed what we preferred to be closer to each other and not need to shout to be heard. We were moved and loved our new seating. The service is attentive but very scattered...we'd ask for something and someone new would be by after a few minutes asking if we needed anything and whatever we'd asked for hadn't been brought by the previous person. This was consistent until we paid. The food was delicious...truly a wonderful concept. All this said...this venue looks more like a nightclub than a restaurant. Something is lacking but we couldn't put our finger on it. We would return because of the excellent food, though. I hope they can make it more comfortable and personable feeling, in the meantime.

The food was very good, but the biscuit in the Larue Eggs Benedict was extremely sweet, more like cornbread. Plus, the side, which wasn't listed on the menu, was French fries, which neither of us ate. The waitress was super accommodating and brought us the apples instead, which were delicious! Our waitress was absolutely outstanding, she saved the day for us! My friend got their homemade toast instead of the sweet biscuit, so that helped!

Tasty small plates and a different take on a ribeye. Particulary enjoyed the smoked vanilla ice cream with bourbon sauce.

We caught LaRue on a slow night and just about had the restaurant to ourselves. The ambiance is very nice - urban contemporary which is conducive to a relaxed evening of dining. The menu is very limited and it changes frequently. The dishes are creative and feature high quality ingredients. Everything we had was delicious! Deserts are not to be missed at LaRue. I would love to try them again on a busier evening when they feature live music. I imagine the vibe would be much more energetic.
