About Larks - Home Kitchen Cuisine at The Ashland Springs Hotel
LARKS HOME KITCHEN CUISINE celebrates Oregon – its farms, orchards, creameries and wineries – offering dishes that excite and surprise with freshness and flavor. We are committed to offering fresh & local ingredients, and passionate about creating innovative cuisine from scratch.
Dishes like steak, hearty soups, flavorful salads and grilled Northwest steelhead are the most popular. Other specialties include pork chops and apple and caramelized onion fondue. Ingredients like truffle oil, wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, pears, and marionberries layer in the Oregon flavor. Our Pastry Chef Terra Sharp’s seasonal creations range from fruit tarts, to chocolate cake with housemade salted caramel ice cream, to cranberry-pumpkin bread pudding.
Our beverage selection extends the theme of local and seasonal with a choice of herb-infused cocktails made with Oregon spirits, local wines, and beers.

Larks - Home Kitchen Cuisine at The Ashland Springs Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Great service by Jessie, just the right amount of attention. Very tasty appetizers were a beet special and squash rings done like onion rings. Had the Petrale Sole and the meatloaf, both delicious and very ample portions. Chocolate and coconut cake was basically a German chocolate cake, very well done. An excellent dining experience!
We’ve always enjoyed Larks for special occasions and decided that dinner at Larks by itself would be a special occasion. We were right. We enjoyed sharing a “deconstructed” salad and our entrees were delicious and too large to allow room for dessert. We’re glad we didn’t wait for a birthday or anniversary to enjoy Larks once again.
We went to Larks for our anniversary. The food was amazing, very creative and beautifully presented. The service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Unfortunately, there was a rather loud man at a nearby table enjoying an unpleasant monologue, but that was not the fault of the restaurant. We will definitely go back.
My wife and I ate at Larks before a show. The food was excellent and the ambience was extremely comfortable. The restaurant is well known so be sure to make reservations or run the risk of being shut out.
An additional fun was that this was Halloween and costume watching out the window was a treat.
I was treating a friend from the Bay Area and thought Larks would be a good choice for dinner. She had the fried chicken meal and thought it was OK. I had the Osso Buco and was not pleased.
I've had several versions of this meal and it has always been served in a rich sauce, very moist and baked for a long time so all the fat "disappears". This was fully cooked but very dry, fatty and served on a small mound of vegetables. Pricey, and not what I would call fine dining.
We always try the daily cocktail and have never been disappointed. The wine list includes some of our favorites and lest we sound like drunks, we really like the food, too!! We have had some great desserts to finish off a very excellent dinner. The service is seamless and friendly. You never feel rushed, but you get to the theatre on time. The dining room is light and pleasant tending toward elegant without pretension. (sounds like a wine! Ha!)
What a great find! Perfect location for dinner in the Ashland Springs Hotel and a short walk to the Shakespeare Festival. Beautiful setting, amazing menu prepared by a talented chef, and the staff was warm, accommodating and very attentive. Highly recommend!!! Excellent meal ... excellent service!
We have been eating at Larks for years when we travel to Ashland to see the plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The food is consistently excellent and there are usually enticing specials beyond what you can see on the menu online. If you linger for hours over the meal, the wicker seats can become a bit hard. Cushions are available, just ask.
Love Larks, but wish the brunch menu had more variety for those that do not eat eggs. Especially as the weather is cooler it would be nice to have a risotto or pasta dish or other types of non-egg dishes to give a warm alternative to salads. Great place, wonderful staff!
Every time we head to Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival we eat here. The food, the service and drinks are excellent.
This time we entertained friends who enjoyed season favorites with us for lunch. The food is always fresh, well seasoned, and unusual. This time was what we expected and enjoyed. The menu is always changing based on what is available from the local farms.
We just had coffee after although the deserts were enticing.
We were a party of four, and two of us were celebrating our recent birthdays. We had a thoroughly enjoyable, delicious meal, and our server, Salisha, took great care of us (as she always does). After we had finished our meals and birthday desserts, we sat and talked for quite a while and were the last customers to leave, but we were not rushed in any way. Two of the members of our group are vegan, and one also tries to avoid wheat, but all of our dietary restrictions were certainly met, and everyone was delighted with the dining experience. Larks has earned its place among our favorite restaurants.
As always, and I mean ALWAYS!, the food was excellent and the service first rate. I am always so HAPPY at Larks. I'm treated like a beloved friend.
I do have a menu suggestion. I can't eat onions and/or garlic, and as a result there is almost nothing on the brunch menu I can eat. Even the breakfast potatoes have been seasoned with some kind of alium powder. When I ask about omitting onions from this or that, I'm told, kindly and regretfully, that it's not possible because whatever I'm asking about is already mixed. For a number of Sundays, I have ended up having French toast, which is quite delicious, but really, enough is enough, don't you think. I would, by the way, enjoy the fried green tomato Benedict, but I tried the hollandaise and to my taste it's grievously over-smoked.
Surely your chef is creative enough to come up with a few new ideas and to try seasonings that don't involve onions and/or garlic.
Another note about the service--any time I inquire about the onions and garlic situation, the server very kindly asks in the kitchen on my behalf and delivers the news--whether negative or positive--in a most gracious way. Larks' policy of hiring charming, competent servers and training them carefully really pays off.
I'll be back.
Quaint atmosphere in an old hotel. Four of us had dinner so we tasted a lot of what was on the menu. Everything was pretty good, but the two fish entrees were served lukewarm. A return trip to the kitchen to heat them up didn't help much. Disappointing because they had good flavor, but heat mattered. Thank goodness for the desserts which were phenomenal- a cookie in a small skillet, a s'mores float & a brownie special. Even the non dessert eater among us was smitten. Delicious ending.
Very good food and service. Convenient location. $$$ We eat here regularly when we attend plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Unfortunately this visit, the hostess was very confused, there was no waiting area so we waited in the hotel lobby next door, and staff were not able to seat us at our 6:30 p.m. reservation time, so the meal became rushed and not pleasant. We will be back, but not when timing is urgent.
We chose this because of the good online reviews and it was OK but not exceptional. My companion ordered the New England style seafood chowder. It was not hot plus it lacked the seafood component. My King salmon entree was good, cooked medium as was recommended. Decent local wine list. Overall B+
We loved absolutely everything about Lark's. It's so wonderful to know that fine dining is not dead! The food was brilliant, perfectly prepared and presented with creative flavor combinations that aren't over the top. Also, it was so nice to eat in a restaurant that doesn't crowd too many tables in. You can actually have a conversation with your dinner partners at Lark's! Our server was attentive but not intrusive or pretentious in any way. The only criticism I had is that they need more runners in the kitchen so that the entrees can be delivered at the same time. Everything else was perfect. Even the cocktails were a cut above - the best martini I've ever had. Can't wait to return to Lark's.
