The food and atmosphere were excellent and the waitress was outstanding.
Looked this up on Tripadvisor because it was our first time in Greenville, SC and it had 4+ rating.
We were not disappointed in the by rating in the food or the service (Eddy from LI was great!). It is a very nice fine dining at a not low but reasonable price. It We will make it a point to revist.
Drinks and dinner were fantastic as usual. Service was lacking this particular evening.
We had been to Larkins once before and were throughly impressed so we decided to return for our anniversary dinner. The service was very good, but the food definitely disappointed this time. It took over an hour for our food to come out after ordering (despite it being a relatively slow Monday night). When it did come out our steaks were served burnt on the outside and literally rare/blue on the inside (we ordered medium rare for a fillet and a ribeye). When I’m spending $50+ on a steak I expect it to be perfect. I must say that the creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes were very good, but no one goes to a pricey steak house for the sides. Sorry Larkins- we won’t be returning.
Great food but it took a little bit long to get our entree. The waiter even came over to say it 'was coming'
Great brunch location. Service was excellent. Menu selection was impressive.
This was my husband and I's first time dining at Larkins, we were excited due to the positive reviews we'd heard. Unfortunately, we left underwhelmed. We dined at the restaurant on Saturday night for my husband's birthday. We ordered our drinks, but it took our waiter 15 minutes to come back to tell us the beer my husband ordered was out of stock. While waiting for his new beer, our appetizer came. We received our appetizer before my husband even got his first drink! The food was extremely salty. The appetizer and both of our entrees; even my husband commented on how salty his steak was (that RARELY happens). His steak ($53) didn't even come with a vegetable, just one side (he ordered the Truffle fries, also very salty). Our waiter only checked on us 2-3 times during our 1.5 hour dinner, the table beside us received far more attention from their waiter. The prices are clearly a reflection of the view, not the food. We most likely won't be back.
Food was excellent and service was great. It was expensive but worth it
Great steakhouse. Staff were friendly, and knowledgeable about steak and wine. Restaurant paid attention to details, even providing my partner with a birthday card (the birthday was noted on the reservation). Sitting outside provided great views and good people watching. We would definitely come back.
Despite the poor service, I would recommend Larkins for the meal quality. The waiter was not paying any attention to our table. We had to ask for refills, bar drinks etc. Not the quality of service you would expect at this restaurant.
With friends we had not seen in 50 years since army days. Great environment for reuniting. Awesome.
We've eaten at Larkin's on the River numerous times. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Will be back again, needless to say...
Delicious food. We visited Greenville for a concert and were very happy to dine here beforehand. Great ambiance.
We had a nice time at Larkin’s and would recommend it to family and friends for a night out. Food was exceptional, but they mixed up our steaks. The place is quaint and very clean. The service was a bit slow for the small crowd, but very friendly and eager to please. All and all money well spent, and we will go back. Doug and Rebekah.
Food was just ok. Service was average. I’m not sure we’ll go back to Larkins. This is the 3rd time we were underwhelmed.
One of the best waitresses we have experienced. Her name is Neena. Will return again and request her exclusively.
My husband I ate at Larkins prior to the Symphony. The server immediately asked if we had a time constraint due to a show or concert which was nice. We both had the tenderloin torpedo. There seemed to be differences between the quality of the cuts of meat that we were served. My cut was quite good but my husbands was cooked rare instead of medium and appeared to be tough. The French pressed coffee seemed to be very weak but since we have never had coffee like this we didn't know if that was the way it was supposed to be. None the less, it wasn't very good and was quite pricey. We were seated on the patio which was nice. In general the food seems to be quite expensive. The prices were comparable to steak houses in Chicago. We didn't expect that.
Amazing. Been here years ago and was excited to be back in the area and to return. As great as it was the first time.
The food quality was excellent but the price was way too much for the meal. I had the shrimp and grits it barely covered the bottom of the bowl.
Great food, service, and ambiance. Located on the river. Caesar salad made table side. Very enjoyable evening.
As a gluten free diner, I appreciate the attention given to provide a safe flavorful meal.
Full attention from Alex, our waiter. Excellent menu suggestions and very attentive to our 37 year wedding anniversary meal. I can’t wait to our 38th to return to this wonderful place
Went for Easter Brunch and the food was fabulous! Attentive wait staff and cocktails were perfect! Looking forward to returning again soon for dinner!
We went for Easter brunch. Wait staff was very friendly. Food was just so-so, and not a lot to choose from compared with other restaurants offering brunch. Salmon was very dry and green beans overdone. We will have to try again for dinner, because we’ve heard great things.
Two thumbs up
The food was excellent but there was a large table of 30 people that slowed our service down. For those prices we should have excellent service no matter what. If there is that large of a party maybe staff appropriately to accommodate number of guests or just book the large party and do not accept anymore reservations. Our waiter dod the best he possibly could but had too many tables.
Our first time at Larkin's, and our last. First, the valet drop off is in front of a sign which read "Larkins" and two large doors. We drop our car off for valet parking and no one told us we couldn't enter through those two doors; they were locked. And there was no sign indicating where the entrance was. We went in one door around the corner, but no that wasn't it. We ended up having to ask strangers where the entrance was.
Once inside and seated, they were having some event upstairs where someone spilled something and it leaked through the wood floors onto my date.
The food was tasty. I had chicken and green beans. They gave me a good portion of chicken, and like eight green beans.
When it was time to leave, I found that the valet had already parked my car out front and left it unlocked and unattended. I waited and waited for valet to return with my keys but he never showed. Finally. After TWO phone calls to the manager "Scott", they located my keys and I was finally able to put that experience behind me.
This was our second time at Larkins but unfortunately this time wasn’t anything like the first. Torpedo tenderloin was an odd shaped large roast beef like piece of meat. It was sent back once because it was not cooked enough and then came out bloody again. When the meal came back out, it tasted smoked - just an odd taste. My husband’s steak was good but nothing to brag about for the price. The service was very good. The Manager and waiter both were very apologetic and tried to make things right which was appreciated. We loved our first visit but really disappointed by this visit. We might try it again but not before giving other restaurants a shot.
We were a party of 11 celebrating my daughter's birthday. The staff was very accommodating as we changed the number in our party quite a few times! Great wine list and the staff was very attentive to our group. Get the seafood tower!
The pigeons are annoying and unclean. I like birds but not flying over me during a meal in a covered space.
Other than that I love to eat at Larkin’s!
Had a wonderful meal here. Started with the Oysters Rockefeller and it was the best I have ever had. I had the Larkin's Shrimp & Grits and my husband had the Dry Aged New York Strip. My husband also ordered the Loaded Baked Potato for a side and was very disappointed. It was obvious the baked potato had been cooked earlier and reheated. We sat on the covered patio which had amazing views.
Peace Center concert.
They went from our top of the list to the bottom; we will not be returning ever again; last time it was the valet service that was the worst. This time poor food quality, service and the GM that they have is absolutely worthless and they should fire him!!! We will not recommend them at all and have shared our most recent visit on more than one social website and among friends, family and co-workers; if you want to be rated a 4 star or 4$ sign business you should act like one! It's a shame that business's can't maintain QUALITY........So rare to find anymore....
Disappointing experience....double birthday occasion ( nothing extra) ,,, soup orders wrong ...main course came out before soup was finished.... silverware akin to Cracker Barrel ...no manager came by to ask how the meal was...food average.
Drove to Greenville for a birthday lunch, decided to go to Larkin’s based on the recommendations. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. Service was not great. I had to ask the server for a drink, and when she brought it she never even asked my companion if he wanted one. I tried the she crab soup which was just okay. We also had the steak salad and southern Reuben. I will probably not return to this restaurant.
Food was very good, a little pricey. Our waitress was good, but we had a couple of hiccups. Had to ask for salad after our entrees were served. Two of us had steak, but no steak knives, lucky the steaks were very tender. We were not served bread as we noticed other tables were. We were given a free round of drinks for the salad mess up. The food is good enough to go back.
Very slow service. Brought our appetizer out very late and actually brought it with our soup and salad. Potatoes were at best luke warm.
Excellent dinner. Highly recommend the she-crab
Went with friends to celebrate a birthday . Larkin’s has a wonderful intimate atmosphere. Our waitress, Nina, didn’t rush and always checked on us at the right time. The food was excellent. Had a very special evening.
