Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.
Jumbo lump crab, roasted corn and pepper relish, old bay popcorn, remoulade
The fried green tomato BLT was superb!
One of the best steaks I ever had. Service was top notch and everything was delicious. We will be going again.
The server(s) were great. The setting was perfect. The chicken sandwich was mediocre, at best. The creme brûlée was outstanding. Two people- $60 for lunch with no alcohol- I expected a good entree and didn’t get it.
Our impression was they really are only doing lunch to make up sales for dinners. Air conditioning froze us out. Even the receptionist was in a winter coat. Food was a C rating at best. Skip it !
The service and food was excellent. They take very good precautions with Covid. The lamb chops were excellent with very little fat which is what I always look for. Great restaurant
The restaurant is beautiful inside & out. The wait staff was incredible. The Clemson Blue salad was incredible. The oysters Rockefeller were good, it needed a little more seasoning. The rib eye however, was a total disappointment. I really like steak cooked on a grill. This was either cooked on a flat top or frying pan. To me, that is such a disappointment. Prices were expensive, but not overly so.....if that steak had been cooked on a grill. The filet mignon was good.
Frankly disappointed. I have generally enjoyed lunch on the patio, but not today. Service was slow, food was just OK. Too much salt.
Great experience overall. Business dinner. I was the host. My steak was way over-cooked; I ordered Med Rare and it was at least Med Well or Well. I said nothing because I didn't want to be "that guy" especially since I was the host. Everything else was very good.
Good C-19 environment, all we’re wearing face coverings, seating was distanced. Wait staff was young but professional. Crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had!
We loved our entire evening at Larkins! Christian was the best!
Fantastic food and service!
David was very accommodating in relocating us from the patio to an indoor table. Anna was outstanding as our wait person. AND, Larkin's was extremely generous in providing us two complimentary desserts and 4 flutes of champagne to two couples celebrating their wedding anniversary ❤! The experience created wonderful future memories for both couples.
Wonderful food and great service!
Larkins was the perfect, romantic Anniversary atmosphere. The service was perfect and the food was delicious. No complaints at all.
The service and atmosphere was top notch. The table wasn't ready when we arrived and there were no available seats at the bar, however the host brought us water to the waiting area and got us seats at the bar as soon as the seats became available. Both the table and the food prep took awhile but considering the quality of the food and service it was well worth the wait. The servers were very attentive and professional. We had 8:30 reservations, got seated at our table a little past 9:00 and had our food by about 9:40. We enjoyed everything and had a great table on the patio with a great view.
Wonderful meal on the patio to welcome the fall weather. Mouthwatering delicious steaks to pair with excellent cocktails and wine. Always a treat.
Larkin's on the River has FANTASTIC food, and a wonderful, elegant setting! We just love it there! The perfect place to celebrate birthdays and milestones. Everything we ate was amazing, full of flavor, cooked to perfection, including the desserts. And our waiter was the perfect balance of timely, attentive, but leaving our family to our conversation when needed. Thank you, Mike and LOTR!
Larkin's remains one of Greenville's best restaurants. The food and drink was excellent.
The choices were very good, even with the menu scale back due to the pandemic. The restaurant has also kept its original character, despite the effects of the pandemic, like table spacing. After a little mishap on the reservation, everything was great. Amber attended to our table of five very well. The visit by and conversation with the the manager was informative and nice.
It is definitely in my top five of Greenville's top notch places to dine.
Me and my girlfriend both enjoyed our first time there and will most definitely be back. Food and customer service were both amazing. Made her birthday feel very special and I appreciate that the most.
Terrific afternoon luncheon! We always recommend Larkins for quality food and a lovely experience.
30th Anniversary... Everything and everyone was perfect! Thank you for making out first trip to your gorgeous city a night to remember. We will be back... without our 🐕.
A wonderful experience on a beautiful night. Everything was perfect
We received an email about Larkins opening up for lunch. We were so glad we decided to join them. The Mahi Mahi sandwich was perfectly prepared and the sauce was most delicious. We will be back soon!!
The food was great as was the atmosphere and the service. We sat outside.
It was my birthday, my kids drove down, to SC. So I wanted a nice place, in Greenville. When we arrived our table was waiting, a birthday card from the staff was on the table. Our wonderful waitress was Serenity, she was very friendly and accommodating. Wife and kids had the Steak au Poivre , medium rare, I had the Salmon, we also had a side of lobster Mac and cheese. They offered a champagne cocktail for my birthday. We had espresso and a ice cream dessert. Food was excellent, came out the way we ordered. Great atmosphere, beautiful place, wife and I have been here several times and will be back in the future.
I had the pork chop. It was cooked as I requested and was delicious. The grits didn't seem fresh, but tge collard greens were amazing...the star of the plate! My friends enjoyed their experience at Larkins as well.
Deviled eggs are pricey for $15 get 3 half eggs?! Shrimp cocktail presentation a bit elementary. But the watermelon margarita house made and created by the bartender is a must!
everything was great! food was delicious. nice atmosphere and broad menu. there was one minor hiccup which they quickly corrected, and first interaction with the server was slightly delayed for little longer than normal, but nothing major whatsoever. people are human and minor mistakes happen. nothing egregious. overall everything was great and would definitely recommend!
We’re traveling & spending a couple days in Greenville. We’ve eaten at Larkin’s on a past trip & liked it. I also wanted a place w good outside dining, as due to Covid, I don’t want to eat inside. I’m disappointed that most people in SC aren’t wearing masks. We’re returning from a trip to Colorado, where most people were wearing masks. In Frisco, Colorado, they had painted signs on sidewalks all over town saying “Please Mask Up”. People in Greenville & SC in general could a lesson from Frisco, Colorado!
Food was great, drink pours were meager at best and not worth the cost
Great service, Guillermo was awesome!
My guest and I had a wonderful evening, David the manager paid a special attention to our needs and seated us in a comfortable private area as I requested, would love to dine there again would recommend it to my friends and family.
Strip was uneatable . Tons of salt
The service from our waitress Serenity was absolutely excellent. Could not have asked for more. Food was not up to my expectations, considering the price structure. Was OK, but not in relation to the high price. Would expect a $40 steak to be exceptional, not just normal and the cost of the side items was way out of line. $9 for Asparagus?
An excellent dining experience!
Food and service was excellent. Overall recommend and will be returning
Our server was fantastic. Described all evening specials perfectly. Food was delicious and did not feel rushed. I have to say being forced to wear a mask outside to walk 3 feet to your table to then remove it is quite comical. We will be back!!
Food was so good and service was amazing. A favorite place in Greenville.
Celebrated our anniversary and Michael made it super special. Recommended the perfect wine, brought us some champaign to celebrate, and service was spot on. Everything about the night was great & we owe it all to Michael!
It was a very nice night, as soon as we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by name and told happy anniversadry. Larkin had left a happy Anniversary card on our table and our waiter was very profecional. Complimentary champaine glasses and cake at the end of dinner. We had a great night and we recomend it for a special occation.
