Larkins Famous She Crab Soup
omg i love this place my wife did as well lets just say i got a lot of bonus points...
The hostess and wait staff were incredible. Lovely people who were super responsive to our needs. The food itself was mediocre. It’s not terrible, but definitely not worth the prices charged. The food all tasted good, but the portions need to be adjusted to the prices charged (small portions, expensive prices). Either that or the chefs need to up their creativity in how the food is prepared. Otherwise it’s basic food for expensive prices.
Chicken and waffles were amazing, would definitely get them again!
Very nice place to eat. A good place to take a date and enjoy the evening.
It was a wonderful evening dining experience for my birthday. They offered a celebratory champagne toast and dessert which made the meal even more fun and exciting!! The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. Will definitely come back to enjoy again.
We arrived early for our 7:00 pm reservation. We waited at least 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. We received water but it was another 10 minutes before we received our drinks. Once seated, dinner was ok. I think I expected more for the price. I had the lobster bisque, filet and asparagus. The bisque was thin and watery. I sent it back. The filet was cooked perfectly but was unseasoned and bland. The asparagus was undercooked in my opinion. My husband had the shrimp bisque, ribeye and broccolini. The bisque was good. Again, the steak was cooked perfectly but was quite bland. And we thought the broccolini was undercooked and under seasoned. Service was good but our server seemed tired and it was only 7:00pm. I’ve heard great things about Larkins but we were not extremely impressed. With all the great places to eat in downtown Greenville, I’m not sure Larkins will be our first choice in the future.
Great girls night dinner! Our waitress Serenity was amazing
Guillermo service was perfect. The chopped salad and filets were cooked perfectly and yummy. Great wine list. Love it.
Thank you for taking the time to tell us how much you enjoyed your experience!
The service and quality of the food never disappoints! Looking forward to another visit soon!
And we are looking forward to seeing you again!
While it is a little pricey, the food, service, and ambiance are unparalleled in the Greenville area. It is always a pleasurable experience and the staff makes you glad you came and welcome to return again soon.
Thank you for the 5-Star review and all the love!
Best steak i’ve ever had. The drinks slapped too. S/O to Mike for the recommendations.
Thanks for the five-star nod!
If you want to go to a place where everything is perfect, come to Larkin's by the River. Nothing in this place is average, everything is just fantastic!!!
The location is awesome, the environment is exquisite I side or outside, the food is WOW out of this world, the staff is very friendly, the cocktails are yummy, the desserts are to die for.
I am not picky, but I can be tough in my reviews, but this place is definitely one of my top 10 in the USA. Believe me, I travel a lot!!!!
Thank you for such high praise! The fact that you travel as much as you do but were still so enthusiastic about your experience with us means the world to us. We look forward to when you are back in Greenville!
Absolute excellent meal and service. Will definitely be back.
We look forward to the day you return!
We decided to go to Larkins for a date night, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great view. The service was awesome! Our waitress Sabrina (I believe that was her name), made sure all of our needs were met. The food was definitely worth the trip. We started with the truffle fries, of which I could eat every day for the rest of my life. I had the Chefs tasting menu that came with the filet, that could probably have been cut with a spoon. The flavor was so damn good it made my eyes water. My wife had the NY strip with the Au Poivre sauce, which was also outstanding. The only thing we weren’t huge fans of was the dessert. We had the cheesecake and creme brûlée, both of which were okay. But not as good as the rest of the meal.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We use our guests notes to constantly work on making ourselves better! We are very happy that you loved your dining experience.
It was Valentine’s Day. Our waitress... Stephanie was beyond amazing and made our night even better. She knew about the wine selection... port wines. Loved it. Definitely will go back again if we’re ever on vacate there.
I took my wife to Larkins for Valentine's day. Over the years, Larkins has been our place to celebrate special occasions. We have always really enjoyed the menu and the food. On Valentine's Day, they had a set menu that had good variety. We both ordered a filet that had a charcoal taste and crunch. The asparagus also had the same burnt flavor. The deserts were extremely small portions.
I have had some very nice meals in the past at Larkins but this time it was very mediocre. I understand charging a premium on Valentine's day but I really feel this restaurant did not up their game to justify their price. In my opinion, they need to revitalize their restaurant experience if they want to continue to be at the top end of downtown Greenville Restaurants.
For the prices charged overall dining experience was not good. Manager approached us stating we ordered off the wrong menu and our dinner would cost twice what we were originally told. In the end they agreed to what they originally said we’d have to pay but only after arguing with them. Wont be going back anytime soon.
Food was good but for a high priced restaurant not top notch. Required seasoning. Back room was dirty and noisy with static from radio. Go to Halls for the price. Soup and appetizers brought out 2 minutes before main course.
Weather did not help, but outside area felt cold.
I went with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day and it was awesome! So romantic, awesome deals, food was perfect, and service was great!
Very unimpressed. Snarky comments from our waitress. Had an 8:45 reservation and didn’t get our food until 10:30. No explanation other than sorry. Will not be going back.
There was music playing from somewhere above this venue which distracted from the dining experience. The atmosphere was loud, not intimate. Service was fair, but 3 different people coming to the table. Our first time here, for a special Valentine night out. Disappointed in regard to atmosphere overall - not intimate, did not feel special.
The food was outstanding, the service was top-notch, and for a Valentine's dinner - I felt like we got our money's worth. And being gluten free, I was super impressed with their GF options (like their rolls to go with my she-crab soup). We had a great time!
I guess I got my expectations up to high for your restaurant. The service was average and the food was ok. The drinks and calamari appetizer was very good. The porterhouse was cooked well but a tough and grizzly. Our server never stopped back to see how our food was until we where ready to leave. I guess next time I will try the chophouse across the river.
Great food. Bacon wrapped scallops and calamari were great. We both had she crab soup and it was excellent. Salad was good and we ordered a larger filet and split it. We filled up on the apps. 😂 the steak was superb.
Great night out with my wife.
Very elegant. Tables spaced out. Food was great. Fast service. Bar tenders were friendly with enjoyable drinks.
Great as always. Due to Covid-19 everything is different. The tables seem way too close together and other than the wait staff no one seemed to be bothered. We probably should have gone elsewhere once we saw the setup but decided to stay and risk it. For the price and reputation we were disappointed.
Booked a table inside the main restaurant (not in the heated outdoor area) well in advance of Valentines Day because my wife gets cold very easily, but we were seated in the heated outdoor area anyway near the entrance/exit. Didn’t appreciate that. I even verified the indoor seating reservation multiple times before we arrived. Additionally, our reservations were for 4:30pm—long before other customers started arriving. This was just not managed well.
Food was pretty good, but the filet was a bit too salty—even for aged prime (presumably prime). Service was excellent.
Went here on a Friday night to have dinner and unwind from the week. Our server was fantastic and didn’t rush us at all! We sat outdoors and even with the cooler weather, the heaters helped a ton and it wasn’t too unbearable at all. We will certainly be coming back here again!
Both the food and service were outstanding.
Appetizers and dessert were great. The ribeye was very much lack luster. Will return though but probably not get the ribeye.
The food was off the chain great!! We had the filet, crap cakes and the waiter was on point taking care of our every need. Will definitely return!!
Food was great!
Great spot. She crap soup was outstanding. Steaks were a little too salty
Visiting our daughter who is a student at Clemson. Wanted to treat her to a nice evening. Exceeded all expectations! Best crab cakes we have ever had.
We married here over a decade ago, so we had high expectations to come back. But after staying in town for a couple days and trying many restaurants, this one wasn't as good of food for the value. The steak was tender, but the overall meal was something we could replicate at home, unlike some other local restaurants that served items that are too complicated or time consuming to cook at home. The experience and the service was fantastic, but for the price, we expected more and were underwhelmed. We hoped for steak we couldn't get at home and it just didn't hit the mark. They do have one of the most extensive wine lists, so that may change your experience if you're looking for a unique drink you can't find elsewhere. It was overall good, but not great.
Loved it took my wife for her 40th birthday 🥳 they could have gave me mor au gratin potatoes stingy with em 😂 but lamb chops were delicious
Delicious meal, great location. Filet was done perfectly.
Outdoor seating was comfortable even on a cold evening. Pork chop was the best meal at the table!
