Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.
I have been to restaurant plenty of time and each time I come to it the menu changes. I love the pork bell dish but it was taken off the menu. My wife love seafood but she does not eat pork but the menu has pork on all the seafood that she likes
Excellent all around. We have eaten at a lot of great restaurants and this place is one of the fine dining experiences we have really enjoyed. The service was excellent and the ambiance made it romantic. No loud music here, only low background music making conversation easy and enjoyable. The steak was cooked to perfection and the rack of lamb was delicious. Service was on par with other fine dining places. The price matches the quality although wine prices could be slightly lowered. Complimentary valet is a nice feature for the downtown area. We will certainly come back.
View was fantastic. Food was mediocre. Steak was rare as requested but not exceptional. Mashed potatoes were a big disappointment based on how the menu read. Didn’t know until the end of the meal that bread had to be requested to
Get bread. Information that could have been useful earlier. Except for the bread issue, the service was okay. We were disappointed overall.
It was amazing!! Nina was awesome food was delicious!!
For the second time in two visits the steak was not cooked properly even after 2 attempts. The steak reheated lacked taste. We did not go to Larkins for a free meal but a good one. They appear to have gone downhill
Kitchen was very slow to get food out. Very long delay for entrees compared to all other tables.
No manager checked table at any point.
We went in with a table of 10. 7 of the dishes came out together but 3 did not come. We had to find the waiter to tell him that the 3 didn't come out. He seemed unconcerned. It was 10 more minutes before they brought everyone's meal. Total lack of concern by the staff and extremely poor service. We will never go back.
The taste and quality of the food was impeccable. The service was average at best and that is very disappointing for a place like this. They struggled a lot to find the wine we ordered, rarely checked on us after getting our order and brought us a glass of water that was dirty. From there it goes substandard, the air conditioner doesn't work so my wife and I are sitting there sweating in our nice clothes trying to get through dinner so we can go outside where it is a descent temperature. This probably accounts for why the wine they finally brought us tasted off since they store it in the dining area where it was over 80°. The music from the wedding party upstairs was very disturbing. I will not be going back to Larkin's as there are several better restaurants in town.
Overall experience was fine, service was good, great location,Food is usually Very good. On this occasion the lobster was not edible, stringy and chewy!
Poor AC in the dining room. No one likes to sweat while eating an expensive meal. Was told that was the best they can do.
Wife’s birthday and Father’s Day combined celebration.
Server was excellent. She took her time. We were not rushed. Plenty of time to enjoy the appetizers before the meal. Only concern is the large increase in prices. Some meals were not worth the price.
I visited Larkins for my 43rd birthday and I enjoyed the restaurant and the food.
Thank you so much for a great evening for our Michelin Aircraft Tires Team - our boss from France was here and he kept ordering more bottles of wine - the Stags Leap Artemis was a winner. We even had a little birthday party for one of our team members. Our Server Guillermo was excellent! - Best Regards - Marcia Schweitzer
Salmon was delicious and cheesecake fabulous. Service was very good
Good food. Delicious blue cheese encrusted filet. Wonderful she crab soup. Perfect dirty martini. Attentive service by Anna.
Larkin’s was excellent overall.. great place for a romantic special occasion..our food was simply outstanding..our waitress seemed like she would rather be somewhere else..nevertheless, I would still highly recommended Larkin’s
I'll start by saying we went on July 4th, but I don't feel like the overall experience would have been much better on any other night.
The food was OK, but definitely not what we expected from a $50+ per person meal. There are several other restaurants in Greenville that this didn't measure up to.
Our server was so nice & super sweet, but was either new or overwhelmed. We sat for almost 10 mins before we saw her for the first time, asked for bread and never got it, ordered a second round of drinks that never came...you get it!
The patio is amazing, and definitely a great place to sit for the TD stage!
Outstanding. Loved the service. The food was wonderful.
We had a great experience at Larkin’s! The ambience was romantic and cozy with brick walls and big windows overlooking the river. On a nice day, the patio would be a prime view! Their steak was really good, but definitely would recommend taking advantage of their add-ons to give some extra flavor. The Mac and cheese and Gouda potatoes were incredible as well. We got the chocolate torte with ice cream for dessert, both delicious, and the staff was kind enough to bring a birthday Creme brûlée! Overall amazing experience and would highly recommend for a date night, evening out, or business dinner.
Pre-show dinner which always rushes service. We slowed it down by only ordering salads and entrees.
The Caesar salad was make table-side and was fresh and full of flavor, albeit a little too much garlic which overpowered the balance of the dish.
Our entrees were fish dishes. One was a hot smoked salmon which was well described by our server and was delivered as described. The smoked presentation was interesting and the dish was well prepared.
The sea bass was perfectly prepared and was a standout dish.
The servings are very large and the overall value of the good is good.
We enjoy each visit to this restaurant and will be back.
Fabulous food and service!!! Larkin’s has a wonderful atmosphere!
Best she crab soup ever. Also the tres leche cake is divine!
We always reserve for dinner here before the plays at the peace center
Excellent food, service, atmosphere and location. You can't go wrong.
We had dinner at Larkin’s for our 57th anniversary and it was delightful and delicious! Serenity took good care of us and we were extended good wishes by several employees. The evening was made more special with a complimentary dessert decorated with an anniversary greeting.
Food was absolutely delicious and Anna was a fantastic server!
It used to be a quality restaurant, but I was disappointed overall.
Larkin's is always a great place to go. I have never had a bad meal there and the service is always good.
I had never had a less than spectacular meal at Larkin’s until this weekend. The waitress was awkward and hovered a lot and when we took our time she started offering unwanted suggestions. Soup was forgotten. Lobster was over cooked and chewy. Steak was just ok. I left disappointed on all fronts.
The food was excellent! Ahi tuna and NY Strip. We had a really fun time together and our waiter helped make it a special date.
Wonderful food and service as always. Larkin’s never disappoints!
My wife and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. Our table was in a very good location, had a view outside.
Larkin's gave us an anniversary card, a glass of champagne to toast our anniversary and desert.
All in all, with the food excellent, a very enjoyable experience. The little things Larkin's did for us enhanced our celebration.
The crab soup is like a crab cake soup -- plenty to share with 2-3 people and rich and delicious. Nice wine selection with all price ranges. Husband ordered a filet and it was perfectly cooked with option of several difference sauces, but didn't need it. We had tres leches cake for dessert and were thrilled at how amazing it was (again enough to share with a table of 4). Our waitress, Ashley Cofer, attended to our table as if she was the sole proprietor -- totally vested interest, helpful, charming, and what brings people to Greenville. Great place to people watch on the patio, too! Won't disappoint.
The food was outstanding as always and the setting was beautiful. Our server Adelle was excellent.
Great as always with regard to food, wine and the presence of Bruce Wise
Sat outside - beautiful surroundings by the river. The food was excellent and our server was quite good. Lovely time.
Never previously have I been disappointed with Larkin's. My steak was overcooked and service was rushed and impersonal. Lot of money for average meal. Larkin's was not busy and no reason for this type of service or meal. Hope this is helpful. Larkin's is a positive force in the community
The grits are too hard. And dry. Shrimp and grits is a southern staple that should be treated as such.
The service was top notch, and Larkin’s created such an amazing anniversary experience for me and my love. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing, and every special request I made was far exceeded. We had an amazing evening.
