Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.
Larkins is one of our very favorite restaurants in all of Greenville
Great food great waitress!!
The bread was good, but the oil was bland without flavor. Very little seasoning and not very tasteful. You should just use butter. The food was slow to arrive and my bone in Rib Eye had huge chunks of grizzle. I'm well aware of the marveling in most rib eye cuts, but this was not marveling, this was grizzle.
Food was wonderful. Even though my steak wasn’t. Liked properly, they turned it around so quickly and make it right. They supplied more sides as well as buying us a round of drinks. Would definitely return
I always enjoy my dining experience at Larkin's for the quality of both the food and the excellent service.
Everything except the food was spectacular. Definitely not worth the prices.
Excellent service we were running late for the show and our server make sure we got out in time
Best night ever. Wait staff perfect. Would recommend to anyone who is
going to the Peace Center.
The food was fabulous and we will be back. Thanks for a wonderful birthday meal.
The food at Larkin’s is just amazing, not o My is the food good but the atmosphere and location of the restaurant is just perfect
We had eaten there for lunch once, liked it, and really wanted to try dinner. Though the wait staff was great and the table side Caesar was good, the rest of the food was a little disappointing. We waited awhile for our soup which was not as warm as I had hoped. The real kicker were the steaks. Out of three steaks ordered at medium rare, only one came out correctly. After waiting almost a half an hour between courses, my husband’s steak came out rare and my moms was medium well at best. For a $60+ steak this is inexcusable. My mom sent it back and when they brought it back, it was raw in the middle. At that point we had been there for almost 2.5 hours so we cut our losses and had them box it up. They offered her a dessert that I assume they would have given her on the house, though they never actually said that. The food was overall pretty good but for a $300+ tab everything should have been cooked to perfection. Really disappointing.
Wonderful lunch on our anniversary. The salmon and the crab cake were outstanding and our server, Anna, saw to our every wish!!!
Best food we’ve had in a long time. Service was impeccable!
Great place. Loved the food. Ask for Anna, she was amazing.
They do need to update their website. One thing I really wanted again and checked to be sure they had it was no longer available. They were very apologetic, but did not offer a comp. overall it was still a good dining experience and will go again.
Everything was great
As always, Larkin's was a wonderful dining experience...The food, grilled salmon with sautéed julienne vegetables, was delicious, and the service was impeccable. The manager checked in to be sure that all was fine, and I dine at Larkin's whenever I am in Greenville for a meal!
Fabulous service and delicious food from the shared appetizers to the huge steaks! 3rd time here and won’t be our last!
We had an excellent steaks dinner on a Sunday evening when the restaurant was less than half full. Our Server was efficient and attentive the entire evening. We would highly recommend Larkin's as one of Greenville's finest steak restaurants.
Great view of the river. Service was slow. Waiter did not mention the house specials, which we only knew about b/c the waiter for the table next to ours mentioned them....after we’d ordered! My companion had the hot salmon, which reportedly was delicious! I had a filet which was very bland. I would go again, but hope for better service and I would not order a steak.
Excellent as usual. Food was outstanding as was the service. Best steaks in GVL!
So convenient to Peace Center. Lunch menu had a good variety to choose from. Excellent service from Kim! Thank you.
Very disappointing. We made this reservation over a month ago for my wife's birthday. When we arrived they tried to shoehorn us into one of those weird u-shaped booths that sits behind a support post. We asked for one of the 4-top tables and they told us it was reserved for a party of 4. Finally seated in another u-shaped booth on the other side of the restaurant. Our server was decent but our food came out cold and had to be sent back. Not very hot when they brought it back. 15 minutes after we sat down, a party of 2 was seated at the 4-top table we requested. I would not recommend Larkins. This is not a place that feels worth the money you'll spend when you want a great/special dining experience.
Very good food. The only negative would be it took forever to get drinks after they were ordered.
We had 6:00 reservations which should have been plenty of time to get to the Peace Center for a show, but our entree wasn’t served until after 7:00. Not acceptable for a restaurant of that caliber, especially since our waitress asked if we were attending the show.
Went for a 4 top lunch meeting I planned. Service was outstanding. I ordered the salmon BLT open face sandwich which is delicious with the she crab. The location and value are fantastic. I will definitely go back when in town.
Larkin's is in a beautiful location, next to the Peace Theatre and overlooking the river. The meat entrees were just slightly beyond medium rare, as requested, but were still very delicious. Service was excellent. The wine collection is extensive.
The entrees did not live up. Our steaks were relatively dry and flavorless. Was very disappointed in the meat. My lobster tail was slightly overcooked. Our cesar salad had way too much garlic, which overpowered everything else. The appetizers, soup, and drinks were all very good. But at a white table cloth fine dining restaurant with high end and high priced seafood and steaks, the entrees were woefully unimpressive. The mashed potatoes that came aside the steaks were like dried hockey pucks. The asparagus was a lifeless after thought. The desserts were great.
My wife and I took 2 guests for a special steak dinner. One guest had to send her undercooked steak back, did not like her soup and had two mixed drinks that were awful. The other guest had to send his steak back twice and finally the manager came and started over with a new steak. The Broccolini was nearly raw, and the bread pudding was not good. The only good food was the 4 cheese macaroni, oysters on the half shell and the bread with tasty olive oil. The wine and water were were guide good. Service was slow. We waited far too long for bread, gave up on getting butter, and were rarely asked if we needed anything.
For an expensive restaurant specializing in steak this was a travesty! I was embarrassed for my guests and will never go there again. They need a new chef, bartender and bakery chef. Don’t waste your money here!
The food was okay! My husband’s steak had no flavor. Overpriced for the food.
Always spot on and just a bit old school. Great cocktails and wine list.
Took my husband here for his 34th birthday. We were recommended Larkin’s by friends that had dined here for their anniversary and were blown away by the food and experience. Their recommendation did not disappoint! We were elated with our experience. They were superb from the moment we walked in greeting us and wishing my husband a happy birthday. We were seated and told by our waitress (Neena) happy 34th birthday again. Neena was so helpful and knowledgeable about the restaurant, it’s history, it’s offerings, as well as what was most recommended and loved by other customers and herself. She made our experience so pleasant! The timing of our courses were excellent and gave us plenty of time to enjoy one course before moving to the next. We felt we could take our time and really enjoy the experience and the moment. We were even surprised with a personalized dessert at the end! We will definitely be back and be recommending to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!
The steaks are always fantastic and the sides delicious, great portions and service was thorough
Service slow, food cold, prices high - not a good combo.
Absolutely fabulous food and service! Can't wait to go back!
Larkins is one of our favorite restaurants, and we never fail to have a special night there. Saturday was no different. All of the staff are so accomodating and knowledgable, and not intrusive at all, but great service.
Would love to see your valet parking a little closer, only for spouse's health reasons. But a tiny blip on a wonderful evening!
Larkin’s is one of our favorite restaurants in Greenville SC! It was the first place we ate when looking at Furman for our kids and it’s has remained a family favorite.
It was the staff at Larkin's that made our experience so exceptional. They treated us so very special (almost every staff member came over to see my brand new fiancé's engagement ring. They went above and beyond to make sure our special night was incredibly memorable. Would definitely recommend.
From the moment we walked in the staff made us feel like their own family and friends! The salmon and risotto was amazing! Also, the was waitress happy to help accomodate my mothers special diet! Can't wait to come back!
Service was decent but the food was only ok. The steaks were chewy/tough, though the she crab soup was wonderful. The price was too high for the quality of the experience.
