Fantastic experience, one of the best restaurants in Toronto hands down.
Pali oh is simply one of the best spots in the city. Food and service are impeccable, the patio is beautiful. The interior is amazing (when that’s allowed again). This place is a must visit for everyone in the city, can wait to go back again.
Hi Mike! Thank you for the kind words! As always, an absolute pleasure to host you for dinner! Looking forward to welcoming you back soon! Cheers, Lauren Hall General Manager
We had the smoked ham and beef tartare. The ham was excellent. Patio was cozy with heating and candles.
What a great patio space! The food was fabulous and the servers amazing. They’ve done a great job with COVID restrictions - felt very safe.
HARD PASS. 0/5
This was a shockingly bad experience. We should have paid for our drinks that came very late into the meal and eaten literally anywhere else.
We were seated at the front of their alleyway which was uncovered and marginally served by their heat lamps - and wait staff. The lights on the tables had blown out from the wind. There was no other real lighting, so we ate dinner in the dark - this isn't O.Noir. When we asked to be moved inward to another table under the awning, where it was warmer and well lit, we were shrugged off by two separate staffers. And then saw that other couples were moved into the tent upon their request.
Our table almost fully tipped over mid meal bc of a significant wobble and the real surprise cherry on top, the server kindly let us know that we had order SO much food and how could we possibly have room for dessert considering the very large amount of food we had ordered. We didn't eat dessert and tbh being fat-shamed by a restaurant is surreal.
This was a very bad experience. We will never be going back here. It was horrific and the food was pretty mediocre to boot. How could it taste well when you felt so judged for wanting to try things?? Absurd.
Lovely staff, delicious food and a delightfully romantic ambiance. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Great gin cocktails & french onion soup. Decent atmosphere considering COVID restrictions.
Food, wine and presentation was excellent as well as service (if a touch flighty). One small gripe is that we went in November during the beginning of the second covid wave so it was outdoors, in the alleyway, which was charming with the lights set up just so, but it wasn’t fully enclosed which meant a very chilly and constant draft for those sitting at the top of alley, closest the sidewalk (no way you could take off your coat).
We got there early for our reservation and we were seated at one of the empty tables up front instead of one the empty ones near the middle which also had the benefit of outdoor gas lamps. It wasn’t a big deal at all when I asked to switch to one of the other tables further back, but I’m feeling like that could have been offered from the start. Long way for a minor nit but I offer this for future consideration.
Gluten free options safe for celiac available! Both our hostess and server were amazing. Beef tartare with gluten free cracker substitute was great. Other guests didn’t have allergy restrictions and very much enjoyed the French onion soup, homemade bread and fries as appetizers.
Lapinou has created a beautiful, cozy, warm and safe outdoor dining experience and their service is excellent. Looking forward to going again soon!
Thoroughly impressed. Great and attentive service. Really great heated patio setup in the alleyway so it blocks most of the wind (still have to dress warm). Really enjoyed the food. Some dishes were better than others. Will definitely be coming back.
Wonderful food and atmosphere on the patio. Great place for a date, especially the couch style seats. Terrible service though. Waited 20 minutes for our table. The host seemed to forget about us and the table unnecessarily sat empty. The waiter wasn't too much better, rarely came over, spilled water all over my phone, then brought me a dirty napkin to wipe it off with.
Hard to knock the food though. The squash fritters were amazing, such a unique flavor with the lime and coconut cream. Focaccia rolls were so good too!
The food is very average. The oysters were fresh and tasty. French onion soup...hmm. It is not a French onion soup. The baguette that was used as a toast for the soup was dry. I mean that it was not toasted bread, it was dry bread.
Service was excellent. Our server was very charismatic.
Service was top notch once again, as was the food. We were acknowledged as repeat customers and thanked for returning to Lapinou. Once again Lauren (one of the main reasons we returned) paired wines perfectly with each of our courses and even treated us to a special dessert wine. We will be spreading the word about the exceptional experience that is Lapinou.
Patio was so lovely and warm! Food, cocktails and service were all stellar. Would really recommend for a safe evening out. Looking forward to returning.
Fantastic food and service and such a cozy setting! So appreciate how hard the staff are working in this challenging context. French onion soup highly recommended for cooler nights!
Great food, great drinks, great service, great ambience. We had a great time
The food was excellent. We loved the steak Ricotta Gnocchi, the striploin and the sea bass. They were all amazing. The best part was the margarita!. Never have I ever had a cocktail that was so amazing. It had the right amount of alcohol and the the spicy twist was simply superb. The only thing that was below par was our server . The guy was Curt and not very polite which almost spoilt our experience. He seemed irritated and grabbed things from our hand even when we were paying our bills. When dining in a fine establishment like this the service is as important as the food. I hope the restaurant takes our feedback seriously and trains that server a bit . I would definitely go back for that margarita!!
Lovely setting and great food. Would definitely recommend and going to go again.
Very cute patio with heaters that make it possible to enjoy the last bit of the season. The service was great and the food even better.
Ricotta gnocchi was delicious, perfectly paired with a malbec. Friendly and attentive staff. The chef made an amazing hot sauce to go with the oysters. I will definitely be back.
Given the impact of Covid19 on restaurants they’re set up safely and responsibly
Food and service was very good.
First time here. Came because of the heated patio since indoor dining is not allowed currently. Overall good experience.
Service was excellent and responsive.
Food was okay. Spinach fritters were greasier then I would desire Zucchini dish was not as hot as I would like. My friend’s squash dish was hotter.
Overall pretty good. Would come back and try something else.
Nicest covid patio in Toronto. The seats are a bit too close together (not 6ft apart) but beautiful and warm with a fully covered roof and heart lamps. Ends are open so it fits the government requirements but they might consider removing a few tables to be safer. Lovely place for a romantic pandemic date LOL
The place is really nice but the food is too expensive and not enough.
Delicious food and excellent portions. Our hostess had great recommendations and we loved our food and experience. Can’t wait to return!
Gorgeous outdoor patio. Cozy and romantic. Food exceptional and service fantastic.
The food was soooo good!!I really like it. It‘s good to sit outside
Wonderful night and service. We planned for a upscale evening and it met the mark
We dined outside in the sexy private lane way which is well away from the busy traffic on King Street. We had a great experience a loved everything we ordered.
The one thing some may find a problem is the menu is very small so choices are limited. It wasn’t a problem for our party of 3 - but I could see that it might be a challenge for others. I would return.
The patio is very cute with the little light bulbs hanging on the top. Their ham plate and the cucumber appetizer are amazing!
Delicious, gorgeous and exactly what my heart was longing for. We made a reservation for the next Sunday before we even finished out brunch. Live jazz was huge bonus and surprise.
Very nice place and value for money, nice food and nice people
Anniversary
Great food, great atmosphere. The lighting was a little too dark.
In the covid environment the tables although outside were too close together. The server also had a habit of leaning in too close. He had a mask on but still it was too close. The menu is very small
Lovely spot for brunch. Having live music is an elegant touch to the bistros ambiance. Servers are super friendly and the food is delicious.
We had a lovely brunch for the first time since Covid lockdowns (March) and Lapinou didn’t disappoint. We were pleased to discover the Jazz quartet playing as we arrived. The music was fab and the ONLY criticism from all of us was the volume level of the music as it was difficult to carry on a conversation during brunch. Our server was amazing as was the venue and food (chef made me a special vegan dish) !! Thank you !🙏
The alley of Lapinou just transports you to a whole different place and you feel like you're not even in Toronto. I love that they have invited Michael Louis Johnson and various local jazz bands to play their beautiful music and adding a touch of ambiance you just can't get anywhere else!
