Had a lovely family get together with my cousin who is visiting from the UK. Our server Aaron was fabulous. Super friendly and helpful with menu navigating and drink pairings. All of our plates were delicious, we shared quite a few. I will highly recommend this spot to others and plan to return again in the future.
Diner was ok but the regional menu for December is disappointing compared too November… just a simple salade for entree … bouff I am not blow out and it pricy for a salade
Beef was good
But the chocolate tarte the salty caramel was way way too much salty that I was not good
Decor is gorgeous & appreciated the quick & diligent vaccine passport checks. Service was top notch. Food was great overall, but crab in shellfish platter was tasteless. Ricotta dumplings incredible & the yogurt Creme brûlée fabulous. Also best restaurant drink was the jalapeño margarita. Music was pretty loud & did not at all match the vibe of the restaurant. Different playlist would have upped this to a 5 star.
Excellent menu, great service. I had the fresh foccaccia, squash fritters, oysters, and the escargots. I finished with the creme brule, which when they add the blackberries and yogurt to lighten it, has become a new favourite dessert.
Service was horrible- not the server, but the overall staff, getting us a table half a hour later than we planned ( reservations were at 8:30- we were seated at 9:00). Asked what was taking so long, hostess was very rude.
Server was pleasant, but the food took way too long.
Food was great but it was painfully slow. Not the place to go if you’re in a rush. If you’re okay with spending 2+ hours, then this is a great spot.
Delicious food. Our server made great drink and food recommendations. The outdoor patio had heaters and blankets.
My first time at this place, with a very large group... it was WONDERFUL, the food was amazing, the drinks were heavenly, the wine flowed freely. My only regret was not ordering dessert! 10/10 will come here again, highly recommend. Oh the bathrooms are super cute too!
Second time reinforces my choice to return. OUTSTANDING thank you everyone. Service and food on point.
The formula was a bit difficult to understand, but everything was perfect.
A fabulous French restaurant in a beautiful space.
I went to this restaurant for Brunch with two other friends. I should say that I was quite disappointed.
When I entered the restaurant ( this was my first time), I was quite impressed with the atmosphere and the venue. the first thought was : how come I have never been here before? my friends had the same reaction.
However, the quality of the service and also the food was horrible and below my expectations from a French restaurant on king street. T point out few things:
1- The server wasn't the politest , it felt like she did not really want to serve us. she explained the menu very vaguely and when my friend asked for clarification she raised her voice and said: I explained this to you before.
2- The Coffee was served cold and when we asked for a hot coffee she argued back that she could not do anything about the temperature, she eventually brought another cup that was warmer but it did not feel good to hating to argue to get better service.
3- The food from prix fix menu was really bad : very small portions, very ordinary quality and not enough options for vegetarian people. One of my friends is vegetarian and all she could order was beans ( How a restaurant would not consider better vegetarian options in their menu? )
4- at the end, the server brought some pastry for Deseret and said it is fresh and warm. the pastry was definitely not warm or fresh.
Considering the price they charge for brunch menu, I do not recommend this place for brunch.
Food was great, the menu was plentiful. Great wine list. I would recommend.
The food is absolutely amazing!
It was great. Our first date and everything was perfect
Great drinks, great jazz band and the food selection was amazing.
It was a fantastic experience. Our first time visiting Lapinou, it was for my partner’s birthday. The service was flawless, highly attentive without being overbearing. The food quality was excellent and the meals seemed to be a fair price with good value, as well as being delicious of course. I’ve only rated a 4/5 on the overall value because the cocktails and whisky menu seem marked up a bit too much. For reference, a Lagavulin 16 was $25 whereas I’ve had this dram at multiple venues in the city ranging between $16 and $20. Aside from that, which is minor, we had zero complaints. Everything was fantastic and we’ll definitely be back again soon!
Delicious food and thoughtful and attentive service. The only thing I would say that was mildly inconvenient was that it was so dark that it was difficult to read menus and actually see our dishes - which we could tell were crafted with such care. That aside - a perfect evening and would totally recommend this gem of a restaurant.
Beautiful Venue, sadly the restaurant was under staffed or our section was just not being paid attention too. My wine glass had a crack in it so that was an unseen detail. King West Vibes.
The whole experience was fabulous
The food is amazing, the wine pairing is great
Definitely coming back
Cocktails are unsanely good too
Our reservation was for the wine pairing dinner. Unfortunately they didn't explain anything about the wines they served with our three courses - the wine notes, the region, etc. We weren't impressed by the wines at all. The food was very good though. Lapinou is a great place to go for atmosphere and good food. Just didn't meet our expectations this time.
some items on the menu were super delicious and my table ordered second helpings! it's definitely a type of restaurant where it's mainly tapas and you share the dishes with everyone.
it was a fun experience but drinks were overpriced.
Very poor service. We didn't get the table we were told we would. It was for a special occasion and the evening was nearly ruined. The only reason we stayed was because it was too late to get reservations elsewhere.
The food was excellent though!
Food was good; service was not great
The food was fantastic. We tried the beef tartare and malfatti. The focaccia was super fresh and warm. The service, however, was slow- the waiters are not very attentive.
During what is a resurgence of active COVID cases, there was insufficient table separation from strangers such that we felt uneasy enough to decline the physical location of the table 1st offered and did cut our meal short intentionally even. The restaurant was following public health full capacity guidelines but we were certainly less than 1 metre separation from unmasked strangers
Energetic ambiance with good food! We got the squash salad and duck which was outstanding. We also got the seafood platter which was just ok. But over all, fun experience!
Live music on Thursdays, which was not too loud and added a beautiful touch to the ambiance. I’m not usually a fan of live music in a restaurant, but this was nice.
The food and service were fantastic.
$135 steak was tough and not enjoyable at all. I couldn’t eat it.
This restaurant uses brunch as an excuse to overprice eggs and beans. The portions are ridiculously small and the price for what you eat (eggs, tomatoes, zucchini and olive oil) is way too much. The place is very nice and the location good, this is actually what you are paying for.
Lovely spot for traditional French cuisine. Wonderful service. Lovely experience overall. We had the Chef's Tasting menu and we sat back, enjoyed each other's company while dish after delicious dish was served to us with outstanding wines.
Very disappointing evening. Our server was amazing, super nice guy. DJ was absolutely horrible. You’re in a French restaurant, that wants to be considered an “Experience” according to OpenTable and you have Pop music blaring in your ears.
The speakers were broken and the constant loud buzz was a nightmare. No proper manager was on site that you can speak to.
Chicken liver pâté was great, the rest of the food was a total disappointment.
Our server Emily was so lovely, great food and ambiance, definitely will come back again.
One of the best steaks ever
And great service
Amazing meal. The employees were very kind and the food was Exceptional. Also, they had a great cocktail and wine list. Will come back.
Great Restaurant - only had drinks but will be back for dinner!
Good food and wine, but a little bit expensive regarding the quantity (especially regarding the shellfish platter or for the whisky). But still a nice place to have good food and really good wine.
The dining experience was lovely. Our server (Alyssa) was very attentive and had thorough knowledge of the menu to answer all our questions.
Standout dishes were the beef tartar, lobster chitarra, and wagyu steak. The fingerling potatoes are out of this world! All meals were well executed. Cheers to the kitchen team and FOH staff!!
We've enjoyed three visits to Lapinou. It's now one of our favourite Toronto restaurants.
Not only was the food delicious and fresh, but the service was also unbelievable. The squash fritters were to die for, as was the duck and the salmon. Highly recommend Lapinou to anyone looking for high-quality food and cocktails.
