Vibrant decor and abundant fresh tropical flowers. Wide selection of chicken, fish, and vegetarian dishes. We shared spring rolls as an appetizer, then enjoyed entrees so large half of mine went into a to-go box. Presentations with bowls and piles of food on wooden slabs plus a small-ish side bowl left me uncertain how to combine the ingredients and which sauce belonged on which. A little introduction would have been welcome, so if you're unfamiliar with the dishes on the menu, be prepared to ask for a lesson.
We had a glass of wine that had spoiled. But it was replaced promptly, without any issues. (We weren't comped for the bad wine, which would have been nice.)
No heat lamps, so outdoor dining on a cold night wasn't an option. Would have been nice.
The food itself was excellent, however! Close to Thai, but distinct.
Amazing food! One of the best Laotian restaurants I've ever been to.
They don’t know about this reservation at all. Service was so bad we waited 2 hours for a fried rice. The waitress and the waiter does not seem to care and sometimes a bit rude.
Staff was great. Service was prompt. Excellent food
Got sick from the food within about an hour of leaving. Attempted to contact the rest and was put on hold twice , hung up on after. The food was bland and strange taste with chicken appetizer. Both entrees Portions small.
The food was great, beautifully arranged and the atmosphere was good the waitress forgot that my co-worker had ordered on the happy hour menu and was trying to charge him more.
Portions are small for the price - avoid the recommended steak at all costs - it was incredibly tough and low quality meat for the price.
Was a hip place but way overpriced. Ordered the Crab and Noodles for $28.95 and got a piece of crab which was 3 inches long we couldn't believe this. The server was not friendly and impatient, left a 10% tip an now feel that was too generous. Food was okay but their presentation was very good. Never again.
Good food and excellent service. Highly recommend this place.
This is my second visit to Lao Table. The menu has an array of options and your bill can run up if you're curious to try multiple dishes. The service is good and the food comes out exceptionally fast, but the portions don't seem as large as before.
I recommend both the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Khao Mun Gai Chicken & Ginger Rice. Each bite is full of flavor!
The papaya salad is delicious and beautifully served with lots of veggies! Dollar oysters during happy hour are worth going for. The calamari was way overcooked, the crispy pork a bit overcooked too but it was tasty.
Prix fixe Valentine’s Day menu was NOT worth it at all. Small appetizers and tiny entree. Definitely not coming back for V Day again.
Worst dining experience I have had in a long time. We arrived before the lunch time rush and were "greeted" by the most unfriendly server. No smile. No pleasantries...just "do you know what you want"? We ordered calamari appetizer and an entree for each of us. The entrees came out in five minutes but no appetizer. We asked her about the appetizer and her response " yes, that appetizer takes longer".
Seriously? I understand if that is the case but in all my dining experiences, the staff communicate this and also ask if you want them to hold the entrees until after. She never came back to check on us, ask if we needed anything and then just brought over boxes and the check and walked away.
I WILL NEVER return. I was entertaining a client and was mortified. I've had better experiences at a fast food counter....and better food to boot.
Food was a little too sweet and everything came out at once instead of staggering the appetizers. Overall great experience.
Service is so so. Food is so so. Price on the high side for what you get c
Everything was delicious! The ceramic bowls and tableware were very unique giving a very Laos/Thai experience. And we happened to come in during happy hour for $1 oysters!
Fun night at Lao Table. Dunes alone at the very packed bar. Reserved a table for one, but had to wait 20 mins to be seated. The place is packed and very loud. The food was great. Portions were beyond generous. You could easily split an app and a entree and have enough for two.
Got there at 7:30 for dinner and the place was packed. Everyone having a good time, lots of conversation at all the tables, it was pretty loud. Everyone was enjoying themselves, party atmosphere. Service was great they explained things on the menu we weren’t sure about. Food was outstanding. Will definitely come back when we are in town.
A must-do for those who love Asian food. Authentic ingredients, diverse menu and outstanding taste.
It was my daughter’s birthday. Everything was great. We had a lovely evening.
Waitress did not really speak English but know how to
Ask customer orders the most expensive dishes.
We went there on time to the restaurant but they told your company said we missed reservation. service is very bad.
Love the food, fast service..
Had high expectations for the food based on the reviews but was really disappointed. Lamb in the curry was really overcooked and the flavour overall was disappointing. We also had the chicken satay which which was pretty boring and the a vegetarian noodle dish which had zero vegetables. I wish she would have explained that vegetarian did not mean substituting meat for veg it just came out as fried noodles and fried tofu which was cold and tasteless.
Excellent service. Great food.
The food was absolutely flavorless.
The food was good. The place was almost full, and the service was very poor...it took two reminders to get a water refill, for example, and two reminders to get the drinks menu. The noise level was so high that one could not hear from across the table, even with only 4 people.
I got good poisoning from the HH oysters :(
The food is awesome!
Best coconut ice cream in SF!
Poor service from the outset - the person who greeted us was rude and that set the tone for the rest of the evening. The severs were rude uninterested and basically slammed the food on the table.
The waiters tried to make up for it but the poor service had marred our experience. They didn’t acknowledge the birthday celebration at all.
I would not recommend this place anymore, at least not on Saturday night. It was like a night club in there. Loud music, loud people, nonexistent staff. We were given the worst possible table in the entire restaurant, right by the exit door. As you can imagine, lots of people used either to leave or to enter the restaurant. It was very annoying and cold. Our waitress decided we weren't worth her time, she even admitted out loud that she was too slow taking our order. We only saw her three times and the third time only because we managed to flag her down to ask for the check. There were people congregating by the bar which was also close to us, the whole dinner seemed rushed and uncomfortable. The only good thing was the food - excellent pineapple fried rice (enough for two meals btw, so great value for money) and roasted chicken with sweet chili dip and sticky rice was okay too. We shared a bottle of Riesling which was nicely chilled - thank you. However, due to the terrible ambiance and the lack of service, we will stick to Osha next time.
Great food, good drinks and efficient service. It’s a loud and lively space but that comes with a full house. Probably not ideal for a quiet date but great for a group.
Great food, but a little pricey. Mentioned on OpenTable that we were celebrating a birthday, but they didn't acknowledge.
Had a great time at Lao Table. Service was good, especially at the bar where we started with happy hour and proceeded to dinner afterwards. Quality of the food was good but I’ve had better for the prices that they charged. Ambiance was good but the noise level can make it challenging to have conversations with the people in your party. I still would recommend this restaurant and plan on going back. The location makes it very easy to get to whether by car or Bart.
Great food and even better service. Truly lovely people. Thank you for a wonderful evening
Sucked, they placed us right next to the door and left it open
Good food, but the noise level was intolerable. I could not converse with my friends, and left with a bad headache.
Food was poor compared to others tried very noisy Hip hop style music drinks expensive would not recommend
Too loud for a biz lunch but presentation of food on every table looked great.
Lao table has been consistently wonderful and one of our favorite office lunch spots! Service is consistently great and the food has been excellent. However, this time around, the food was sub par. The fish was warm and had gone bad and the chicken basil, fairly greasy. Very surprising.
