LH was perfect place for pre Christmas lunch - ambience and setting got us in the Christmas spirit and the luncheon menu was delightful - we has the butternut squash veloute (best ever), smoked trout (innovative and so tasty) but the best was the beef shortribs (the wine jus was perfectly flavored, the beef just melted in your mouth and the croissant bread pudding was a wonderful surprise for 2 ladies who hate bread pudding but could have eaten another slice of this for sure)...the piece de resistance was the plum pudding dessert - have never tasted a pudding so bursting with flavor) The cab sauvignon was light and perfect accompaniment to our lunch. Bravo to the chef and the LH service team! LBN
Experience from second annual December lunch. From the time you enter the front hall you can't help to notice that all of the staff are caring, attentive, mindful without being over solicitous. The fireplaces add charm, the views from the many windows are outstanding. The bartenders who mixed our pre-dinner drinks were efficient and seemed to add a creative twist to old time favorites and new cocktail inventions. The dining staff were not only very professional but managed to create a special meal by straying as bit from the set menu, what a nice surprise. Must say, the taste experience cannot be matched, kudos to the chef.
We had a wonderful time and already trying to schedule our next visit, really want to come again to the summer outdoor events. Thank you for making my Moms 77 B day dinner a hit.
Phenomenal meal, service and ambiance! Visit approx. twice per year and will continue to do so.
Beautiful place, delicious food, so well presented like a piece of art
My favourite special occasion destination. I’m never disappointed.
On oasis of excellence in southwestern Ontario.
Excellent cuisine served with superb attention to detail. Amazing wine cellar.
Great table with very attentive, professional service.
The breakfast buffet is very good, loved the abudance of fresh berries, the scones were heavenly!
Great! Recommend to everyone. The best in Ontario
My family and I enjoyed celebrating my birthday at the Langdon Hall dining room. We had a wonderful time and appreciated everything. Thanks a lot.
We have dined on several times at Langdon Hall and always enjoyed our meals. This was my husband’s 65th birthday and I wanted it to be special. I was a bit disappointed with where we were seated, however the service was impeccable. Some of our guests would have preferred a few more menu options, however we all enjoyed our meals.
We had a nice experience, but the cadence of the service changed when another couple that were clearly “VIP” sat down next to us. The serving staff that were previously chatty and easy going suddenly became stiff, more formal and less attentive. That was a little disappointing for such an upscale and highly rated establishment. No one guest should feel less important then the next, especially when guests are seated in such close quarters and can clearly see and feel the distinction. Nevertheless it was still fun, the food was original and the architecture of the main house very charming and cozy.
Food and service was good but we were seated so close together and all i can hear is the conversation next table.
Loved everything about the dining experience at Langdon Hall except all the patrons were seated right next to each other and there were a lot of empty tables throughout the restaurant. We were sitting arms length away from the couple sitting next to us. Too close for comfort.
Fantastic food, cocktails, service, atmosphere and experience. Greatly enjoyed dining at Langdon Hall and would absolutely recommend it.
This was one of the worst $800 dining experiences we've had in Canada. After reading that Langdon Hall is Canada's number 4 restaurant, we traveled two hours excited to experience gastronomical excellence. The hostess and the person seating us were most gracious and welcoming. We selected the tasting menu and from that point on we were extremely disappointed. We were at a table for two; however, on both sides of us within inches, there were other couples at tables for two, depriving us of quiet conversation and some modicum privacy. The food was amateur, salty, and, in some cases tasteless. The sommelier seemed hurried and his delivery was rehearsed. We would suggest, if you want to experience a tasting menu prepared properly, try Alinea in Chicago, Hisa Franko in Slovenia, or, closer to you, Restaurant Initiale in Quebec City.
Looking for the most sophisticated menu? this is definitely the place, it never disappoints and always surprises whether at brunch or for a tasting diner...
the best restaurant in the area, and one of the best in canada. if you haven't tried it, find someone you like and go. compared to others in the area who claim to be "fine dining" this place actually is at the same prices. awesome cocktail lounge to start in, then be taken care of with the best service, wine menu and food. never disappoints.
Thoroughly enjoyed another meal experience at Langdon Hall. Although butters/mayonnaise type items were delicate, previous meals were more inventive. With "fall harvest" I guess we were expecting a greater variety.
I typically never write reviews when I dine out. I feel I need to after our underwhelming brunch today. It was our 23rd anniversary today. We came for brunch with one of our daughters. The staff at the front knew that based on our booking, however our server was unaware and nothing special was done for us. We have stayed at Langdon Hall many times and have had wonderful dining experiences. We were served our first course without cutlery. One of the servers (not our main one) served our dishes to each of us incorrectly (mixed up who ordered what). The servers didn’t seem to know much about the dishes, nor did they describe them to us well when served. The quality of the food is exceptional at Langdon Hall, however our dishes today were not delicious. We expected more based on our previous amazing ones there before. We had to ask for bread and several times more water. We also poured our own wine a few times. We noticed other tables were disappointed with the service as well. We ordered wine that we love and are very familiar with. The wine was rapaciously priced (more than double the average price). We love Langdon Hall and plan to return, but today was definitely not up to par. We have stayed and dined at a wide array Relais and Chateaux as well.
The dinner and the service were outstanding. Our server, CJ was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Only disappointing aspect of the whole experience was that while the restaurant was nearly empty, the hostesses kept putting people right beside us. What’s with that? I understand if it was a busy night, but it wasn’t. And... they were even served by different waiters, so why?? The restaurant manager needs to train the hostesses better so everyone can enjoy a more relaxing time.
My daughter and I shared a lovely breakfast. Delicious meal and an elegant but relaxed setting.
Was delicious with excellent service, but a little louder than expected
It was truly a beautiful experience, from the ambiance, to the service ...AND then the incredibly delicious FOOD! I am planning my next visit. It reminded me of both my California experiences and as well the South of France.
I have been wanting to eat at Langdon Hall ever since moving to Cambridge 13 years ago, it was well worth the wait. Great food, per service and a fabulous dining experience. I would definitely recommend Langdon Hall to anyone who would be looking to experience one of the finest dining experiences in Canada.
Having been in the hotel / restaurant industry my entire life it was a real treat to experience this restaurant and exquisite menu, I will definitely not wait another 13 years to return.
Stunning restaurant with precision perfect plates make Langdon Hall a special place for special occasions. It’s pricey but worth the drive into Cambridge. Spend a short while walking the grounds.
Of any high quality food experience Langdon Hall cannot be surpassed for food, service, ambiance, friendliness, going out of their way and I could go on an on...absolutely love this place and this is why we keep going back.
Did the prix fixe tasting menu. The wait between courses was too long, and took us out of the experience completely. Take two bites, wait 20 minutes for the next two bites. It took 3.5 hours for 8 courses. Each course was between 1 and 8 bites, with most being around 2 or 3. Dishes were mostly under-composed but gimmicky: e.g. a few pieces of watercress with some aioli to dip the leaves into, served in a stone chalice with dry ice to create fog. Sommelier just read the label to us: “This is a vintage X varietal Y from region Z. Enjoy.”
We had two minor criticisms. One of the serviettes was damp. The iced tea was too weak.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary Dinner at Langdon Hall. The service, staff, food and atmosphere was outstanding. We also enjoyed walking through the grounds and enjoying the garden.
Lovely brunch with our family to celebrate a special birthday.
At our visit yesterday for lunch the dining room was not busy while we were there, and a corner table was free which would allow my wife and I to sit beside each other; our preferred configuration as we are both hard of hearing. The waitress told us that this vacant table, which had no 'Reserved" sign on it, was reserved for 'VIP Guests'. Instead, she seated us at the next table where we struggled to hear one another during the meal. Alas, no "VIP Guests" came during the time we were there so the table sat empty. We have been dining and staying at Langdon since the 1990's, but now that I understand that we are a lower-tier of guest, we'll be visiting less often.
Any choices of vegan menu?
Any non dairy milk for coffee?
I would like to see vegan menu in my next visit
Overall everything is super and the chefs are putting their hearts on the food, really appreciated
The whole dining experience was excellent. Two of us had the halibut which was delicious and everyone enjoyed their dinner. The ambience was perfect and the service was great.
Excellent overall. Only lost stars due to fellow patrons who were FaceTiming obnoxiously, and because they are considered “regular VIPs” it wasn’t addressed by staff.
Great overall experience. The appetizer, main plate and wine pairing were great. The service was outstanding!
With regards to ambiance, it always depends on who is dining. On our particular evening, it felt a bit on the posh side....the opposite of a Joe Beef or Liverpool ambiance.
I think that I would return with a larger group to do the pairing menu. The menu looked very promising...
Lunch with friends from Toronto. They loved the freshness of the dishes and spoke with the chef that was on hand.
We had the chefs tasting menu. Some of the most creative and delicious courses I have ever had. CJ’s service was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Was a great way to celebrate our anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make our night special.
