Landry's Seafood House - San Luis
First time there. Cocktail was fine. Calamari was good. Salad was fresh and crisp. Liked the honey mustard vinaigrette . I had the fried fish platter. The stuffed crab was excellent. Fried shrimp good as was the oysters . However the piece of fish I had was just blah. It was catfish I was told. No flavor. The stuffed shrimp was fine too. The big disappointment was The bananas foster. Every restaurant I’ve ever ordered banana fosters was always prepared at the table. I was excited to have this dessert prepared at my table because it was my birthday and I just retired and moved to the island.
I will come back for sure to try some of the other options on the menu.
I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman who waited our table. He was outstanding. The experience was all him. Food was excellent, would expect no less from such an establishment. The server was the crown jewel of our visit.
I wish I could remember his name. If Landry’s is reading this, look for who waited on us, that is who deserves a pat on the back and acknowledgment for a job well done on such a busy and hectic night.
What a great experience. We will return.
Reservation was on time and restaurant decor appears to mimic fine dining. Our waitress was very attentive and willing to suggest her favorites on the menu. I took her suggestion of the crescent city snapper, my wife had the mariner’s platter. The snapper although cooked well lacked seasoning and flavor. The rice pilaf side as well as the steamed vegetables were bland and comparable to what you might receive at a hospital. The white noise of conversation is overpowering and other than the ambiance this place is overpriced and disappointing. All things considered we will not be returning to Landry’s. Do yourself a favor while in Galveston and visit Fisherman’s Wharf instead.
Unfortunately, like most beachy tourist places, the food was far below the quality of other locations because the seasoning is muted for broader appeal. I have eaten at several Landry's locations and really enjoyed them. This one wasn't close in taste or presentation.
Meals were decent, as usual. Some felt it was a bit salty.... Service more spotty than usual.....
Carlos, was easily one of the best servers we’ve ever had. He made the entire visit amazing. We have 3 small children and one older child so we aren’t exactly an “easy table” but he handled us like a pro!
Enjoyed meal and evening with friends. Was noisy in restaurant and we were seated next to a linen service area which decreased the ambiance a bit. Overall good experience
Landry's is our favorite place in Galveston and it did not disappoint us on our latest visit there. We went on a Saturday night against my better judgement because I knew it would be crowded. We made a reservation and got in within 5-10 minutes of our reservation time even though it was VERY crowded. Our table was great - the service was excellent and the food as fabulous as always! We will be back - this time we promise to leave room for dessert!!
Table available as requested.
Excellent timely service.
Large food portions, prepared as ordered.
Banana Fosters, very tasty.
The service started slow but someone came, brought us water and let us know our waiter would be by soon. After that we had a great dining experience. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. Thank you for a great anniversary dinner.
Had dinner with my granddaughter while we were on vacation in Galveston. The ambience was nice for a tourist area. We had a warm welcome and we’re seated immediately. I tried a sparkling lavender cocktail that was way too sweet so I sent it back. We had a crabcake appetizer and it was delicious - possibly a little undercooked.
My granddaughter ordered the Landry fettuccine with chicken. Fettuccine was had an odd taste and she wouldn’t eat it. I took a bite and head to agree. I ordered grilled salmon with a butterfly cut and it was delicious.
The pricing was a bit high for the quality we experienced.
For the money, I was not impressed. We had to ask for bread to be brought and they forgot the baked potato. My shrimp was served with ranch dressing instead of tarter sauce. It wasn't horrible food but I will go elsewhere next time I'm in Galveston.
Waitress was great. Noise level horrible and we were even placed out of main room because of that but ended up by kitchen.
Not sure I would come back here.
Wanted a nice dining experience but really didn’t hit the mark.
The waiter was fine up until we asked for the check and then he totally disappeared. After waiting 15 min and not seeing him come back out of the kitchen, we had to find a manager to pay our bill.
The restaurant was really loud and crowded but it was definitely worth going to. I wanted a medium ribeye but I got a medium well steak which was like 35$. I didnt want to send it back cause it would have took so long and I was starving. Even though it was over cooked it was still a decent steak. Other than that the rest of everything was great and our waiter was excellent.
We were so happy we had made a reservation through OpenTable! Saturday at 6:15 on a weekend with beautiful blue water resulted in a large crowd waiting. But we were shown to our table by a window immediately. We had refreshing drinks, delicious spinach artichoke appetizer, and fresh crisp salad. Our entrees were all top notch! The only negative is that we didn’t have time for dessert as we had to rush a bit to get to a show at 8.
Our food was good as always and the server was awesome
Food was average. For the prices I expect better food. Server didn’t bring our drinks to the table they would sit at the bar waiting to be picked up. By the time you get it you’re pretty much done & just want to go home.
All four meals were nicely-prepared! Service was good. Lobster bisque was quite good! Also like that they accept reservations!!
One of the best steaks I’ve ever had; can’t wait to get back to Galveston; this will be my first stop
Service was impeccable. Juan was terrific and may be the best server I have ever had at this restaurant. Food was well prepared and the sea bass I had was excellent. My family and friends enjoyed one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time.
Service and food was all absolutely fabulous. Celebrated our 31st anniversary and it was wonderful.
first first non-5-Star review... from Scottsdale to Dallas and this place was worse service than fast food on the drive in
Used open table and Arrived on time. Was seated 30 minutes late and was asked to sit outside. Took over 90 minutes to get our food and my triplets ordered fried shrimp, 2 sliders and fries. Adult meals was fried cod, fried shrimp and two baked fishes. The hostess was suppose to get the manager and the manager never showed. Server ignored us and we had to go get our own to go boxes. Server brought them but we had to get up three times to go inside and ask for them. Sad since it was my triplets first meal on their first vacation and my 2 little girls fell asleep waiting. Waiter brought out food and asked me to split the plate cuz he has to serve another table but didn’t have a plate. Food came out very cold.
Avoid this place. Cost me $135 for food we left on the table.
Manager never showed up. We did talk to him and he basically told us Tough Sht with a free app coupon like I’d go back to this joke.
Look at my other reviews from Scottsdale to Dallas. Congrats on being that bad!
Food was average at above average prices. It’s a tourist trap
Keelan was our server for both visits to Landry's, he was friendly, courteous, professional, knowledgeable of the menu and made our visits worth coming back. The food and deserts were outstanding.
This is our second horrible experience at this Landry’s location. Manager was rude and unfriendly, service was atrocious and extremely slow and the food was sadly mediocre. We generally love Landry’s and most of their properties are some of our favorite places to dine. Skip this one and go to Fisherman’s Wharf. When I am paying $25+ a plate I expect decent service.
We have a favorite Landry’s restaurant in Denver, CO and decided that while visiting Galveston, TX we would have a nice dinner. We were sadly very disappointed when after making the reservation in Open Table and requesting to sit outside and have a gluten free menu, the maître d’ was extremely rude and acted like we were putting him out when we reiterated our initial request. Part of what we love at the Oceanaire in Denver is the hands down one of a kind service we get, along with the amazing food and gluten free options for one of our members who has a severe allergy. To say the least, this set the night off on the wrong foot. The setting was beautiful and Landry’s never disappoints with their food; however, I would not go back to Landry’s Seafood House on our next visit.
This restaurant was fantastic and I love the service. I enjoy being to spend quality time with family’s a Landry’s restaurant. The food was delicious.
Not bad, oysters not so good, but overall ok.
Ordered catfish and very disappointed.
Always pretty reliable service, even with the tourist-trap crowd always walking in with sweaty tank-tops and flip flops. Had some bad snapper last go-around but they took it off the check. We'll try it again.
For the price. My food was not worth it. Very unsatisfied with my visit . Plus the waiter didnt even ask how our food was. I did not want to be rude and just tell him
I had the blackened shrimp fettuccine. While the blackened shrimp was good, I didnt like how my whole pasta dish tasted blackened. I couldnt taste any flavor but that. Very upsetting for paying $20 for something that was terrible
Excellent food. Great looking restaurant. Very busy and filled with beach vacationers
I ordered the filet and lobster tail.. tail was overdone, and steak was cooked to order but had way too much gristle, not worth the money I paid for it. Daughter wanted angel hair pasta with alfredo and was told she couldnt have it. Wife enjoyed her crab legs.. other daughter has a seafood salad or something.. she was disappointed. We had fried squash and a seafood appetizer. Both awesome. Sweet tea was great. Overall, we paid 208.00 plus a 45 .00 tip.. totally dissatisfied with the overall meal..had to wait almost 45 min for main course.. but the service and cleanliness was great.
I enjoyed the wonderful ocean breeze at covered patio
The food was delicious as we had expected and using the reservation app really helped us get in quickly. I will say though, the atmosphere was extremely loud. After being sat at our table, it took an unusually long time to have anyone come to take our drink orders. Then another long time to get our dinner orders in. There were several large groups and apparently they had gotten all the bread and were heating more. (We never received any). Overall though, the restaurant had great food, we were happy with the food. It was just a difficult night to be there as a small family when so many large groups demanded the wait staff’s attention. Our toddler did fairly well despite having to wait so long for food and luckily my phone service started working because the WiFi password didn’t work. The waiter was so busy with his other tables that we couldn’t flag him down again to get the correct password.
It was very expensive for the atmosphere/service and food. The best part was the salad bowl, so that’s not saying much. The fried shrimp, which should be amazing due to locale alone was not great, served without lemon and ketchup for the French fries etc.
we waited for a long time btwn water refills and waiting for the check and a box. It was not great. I definitely will not be going back.
Restaurant was beautiful, but the food is a bit overpriced.
The place had great food, a spectacular view and good service but I give it a low rating because of the problem with getting a table and the hostess. It took getting super mad and complaining like crazy to get our table. We waited an hour and had a reservation.
