Landry's Seafood House - San Luis
Food was average at above average prices. It’s a tourist trap
This is our second horrible experience at this Landry’s location. Manager was rude and unfriendly, service was atrocious and extremely slow and the food was sadly mediocre. We generally love Landry’s and most of their properties are some of our favorite places to dine. Skip this one and go to Fisherman’s Wharf. When I am paying $25+ a plate I expect decent service.
We have a favorite Landry’s restaurant in Denver, CO and decided that while visiting Galveston, TX we would have a nice dinner. We were sadly very disappointed when after making the reservation in Open Table and requesting to sit outside and have a gluten free menu, the maître d’ was extremely rude and acted like we were putting him out when we reiterated our initial request. Part of what we love at the Oceanaire in Denver is the hands down one of a kind service we get, along with the amazing food and gluten free options for one of our members who has a severe allergy. To say the least, this set the night off on the wrong foot. The setting was beautiful and Landry’s never disappoints with their food; however, I would not go back to Landry’s Seafood House on our next visit.
This restaurant was fantastic and I love the service. I enjoy being to spend quality time with family’s a Landry’s restaurant. The food was delicious.
Not bad, oysters not so good, but overall ok.
Ordered catfish and very disappointed.
Always pretty reliable service, even with the tourist-trap crowd always walking in with sweaty tank-tops and flip flops. Had some bad snapper last go-around but they took it off the check. We'll try it again.
For the price. My food was not worth it. Very unsatisfied with my visit . Plus the waiter didnt even ask how our food was. I did not want to be rude and just tell him
I had the blackened shrimp fettuccine. While the blackened shrimp was good, I didnt like how my whole pasta dish tasted blackened. I couldnt taste any flavor but that. Very upsetting for paying $20 for something that was terrible
Excellent food. Great looking restaurant. Very busy and filled with beach vacationers
I ordered the filet and lobster tail.. tail was overdone, and steak was cooked to order but had way too much gristle, not worth the money I paid for it. Daughter wanted angel hair pasta with alfredo and was told she couldnt have it. Wife enjoyed her crab legs.. other daughter has a seafood salad or something.. she was disappointed. We had fried squash and a seafood appetizer. Both awesome. Sweet tea was great. Overall, we paid 208.00 plus a 45 .00 tip.. totally dissatisfied with the overall meal..had to wait almost 45 min for main course.. but the service and cleanliness was great.
I enjoyed the wonderful ocean breeze at covered patio
The food was delicious as we had expected and using the reservation app really helped us get in quickly. I will say though, the atmosphere was extremely loud. After being sat at our table, it took an unusually long time to have anyone come to take our drink orders. Then another long time to get our dinner orders in. There were several large groups and apparently they had gotten all the bread and were heating more. (We never received any). Overall though, the restaurant had great food, we were happy with the food. It was just a difficult night to be there as a small family when so many large groups demanded the wait staff’s attention. Our toddler did fairly well despite having to wait so long for food and luckily my phone service started working because the WiFi password didn’t work. The waiter was so busy with his other tables that we couldn’t flag him down again to get the correct password.
It was very expensive for the atmosphere/service and food. The best part was the salad bowl, so that’s not saying much. The fried shrimp, which should be amazing due to locale alone was not great, served without lemon and ketchup for the French fries etc.
we waited for a long time btwn water refills and waiting for the check and a box. It was not great. I definitely will not be going back.
Restaurant was beautiful, but the food is a bit overpriced.
The place had great food, a spectacular view and good service but I give it a low rating because of the problem with getting a table and the hostess. It took getting super mad and complaining like crazy to get our table. We waited an hour and had a reservation.
Took the family out on Independence Day for dinner, it was a little crowded but service was great and food was delicious as always. Always try to go when we are in Galveston.
Had to wait half hour for a table, when one third of the restaurant was not being used. Terrible service, had to ask three times what we ordered, dropped wine glasses on the table.
At times we could not find server.
Asked for a quiet table, got a booth on the path to the restroom, constant traffic. NOT QUIET.
Won’t go back. Won’t recommend this place, and I’m a me,bee of Landry select club.
Food was subpar for what we normally experience at Keemah. Had to send a steak back and fish was below average.
Our waiter was friendly and doing his best to overcome some obstacles.
Hostess was somewhat rude upon our arrival despite us having reservations. Seems she wasn’t being supported well by other staff.
My wife and I love Landry's on the Galveston Seawall; we had delightful early dinner food/service there this year on the 4th of July and then enjoyed the Independence Day parade in front of the restaurant afterwards!
Everyone said their seafood was really dry.
Very disappointed in the manager and good, but loved our server!
The food was average at best, With 5 star prices. Salt was substituted for flavor. Cocktails were good, try the lavender martini with Prosecco.
Lovely venue. Juan was our server. He was great and had wonderful suggestions. We enjoyed everything!
Unfortunately the service wasn't the best. We had to wait on drinks... complimentary bread was never brought out until we asked for it.
Excellent food and service
Happy hour menu was varied and delicious.
The dinner was very enjoyable. We had a large party and was seated comfortably. Service was great.
Most of the food we had was mediocre
The waiter broke a beer glass and dumped beer all over my white clothes. I had cuts on my legs and thumb and A manager didn’t even come to see if I was ok. We went there with a party of a 8 for a bachelorette party the night before we got married. It ruined the night.
Food tasted like it was frozen and reheated. Overpriced. Forgot our reservation. Nice building in a good location, but I’ll never go back.
The manager stepped.up when server was no where to be found.
The food was great and the pricea are pretty good considering restaurants similar. The ambiance is great if you like the ocean close to you. The noise level was normal and the restaurant was busy so me and my wife could hear each other easily.
Great food! Great service.
The food and service were wonderful. We had a reservation and were seated right away.
Landry's on the Seawall is a great spot for getting your seafood fix. Wait staff are attentive, food is delicious and comes pretty promptly for such a popular spot. A reservation is essential to cutting through the throngs at the door.
Amazing. Well worth the money..MAKE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION
Service was great.
Service was terrible! After appetizers were served, our waiter disappeared and we had to get our own plates and silverware and napkins. Totally messed up our drink order and overcharged. This after the manager told us that she was his "top" server.
BS, we won't be going back. Should have gone to Gaidos instead.
Overall the food was good, but we were crammed in next to a large party and the wait staff kept bumping into us due to lack of room. Also I had to return a Bloody Mary as the spice was ridiculous. You couldn’t taste anything the heat was so bad.
Gustavo / Gus was great and gave awesome service. The food was properly prepared and taste was great - as you would expect from an Landry's Restaurant....
Dining area was loud so a personal conversation was hard to have - it was my wife's birthday....
Dress code was relaxed, but if you plan on spending the money you spend at a Landry's Seafood Restaurant, you would expect people not to be in a bathing suit cover-up - they should be dressed accordingly. Too many shorts / t-shirts / flip-flops and sandy clothing for the experience you should expect at Landry's.
