Landry's Seafood House - San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
We had a good time, and the food was great. Our server was ok, and we are used to getting really good service when we go. He forgot the spoon for my friend's gumbo and said he would be right back with it, but we had to flag down a bus boy to get us one after 5-7 minutes. He only came back 3 more times to bring our food, ask if we wanted dessert, and then bring our ticket. Like I said, we are used to really good service, so this was not typical. The band playing in the bar area was fabulous!
Food was good. Fish is flashed frozen. U can’t tell it’s not fresh. It was delicious. Waiter was a little overwhelming trying to sell everything on the menu. Place is also very loud, but we had a river view table which was nice even though we were all locals I’d go back.
We arrived for Happy Hour at the Riverwalk Landry’s and enjoyed excellent bar service with very tasty food options. A trio arrived. At first we were concerned about noise level. However, we were absolutely delighted to enjoy the sounds of three time Grammy winner Joe Posada . We went downstairs and enjoyed an outstanding meal. My husband’s pan seared Ahi was just right as was my Crab stuffed Mahi. We decided to go back upstairs and enjoyed more drinks, met some interesting folks from Sacramento celebrating birthdays and conversation with Joe Posada. We enjoyed a perfect evening , closing the place dancing to great music. We couldn’t have planned a better night celebrating my husband’s birthday.
My husband and I were in San Antonio for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and I belong to the Landry Club and wanted to start my visit at Landry's on the Riverwalk. It has a wonderful vibe, friendly, lively music upstairs while we ate downstairs and a great menu. Our fresh oysters were amazing, plump, fresh and very good. My husband's Cedar Planked Salmon was perfectly cooked as was my Grilled Trout with Jumbo Crab Meat. We drank J Lohr Falcon Perch Pinot Noir that went perfectly with both dishes and shared a delicious Creme Brulee with a Latte and Capuccino for dessert. Great service from Lorenzo who was knowledgeable about the wines!
The restaurant was very busy and we were seating quickly so that’s always appreciated. The meal was good not great and the service was attentive but not really trained well. For example, the waiter pulled out a crumb catcher to clean the table cloth. Cool move but he faked it - he just moved the crumbs around. The food was standard fare steak and seafood and my ribeye was a 6 outta ten. It’s in a busy spot so it’s a touristy spot and stays busy. Location location location.
The evening started out fine. The server was responsive, but as the restaurant grew crowded, the service dropped to poor. Apps and first drinks were delivered in a timely manner. Entrees arrived with a slight mix up as to who got what (there were only three of us). After the first check in by the waiter, he became invisible. Long wait for second drinks, delivered sporadically. One of two desserts took a long time to come out. At the time the first dessert was delivered, we were told the second dessert was unavailable. My dining partner's after dinner drink was delivered with the second dessert which took long enough for the first diner to finish his dessert. I never got my coffee that was ordered with the first dessert after it was promised when the second dessert arrived. Entrees are way overpriced for the quality and presentation.
Very ordinary meal for equivalent of Red Lobster at a more expensive price.
Seafood tower tasted frozen not fresh except for the oysters which were delicious.
Seafood salad for $27 should have had some shrimp at least in it versus frozen snow crab. Lettuce was fresh with nice dressing.
Excellent server checked on our party discreetly in a quiet setting on a weekday afternoon.
I am honestly not a picky person when it comes to eating out. This place was terrible, the food was disgusting. I would never come back and my husbands meal was worse than mine. Tasted like everything had been frozen and then heated up for the meal. My lettuce from my salad even tasted frozen. We took our leftovers just to give to the homeless around the area and were hoping they wouldn’t beat us up for giving it to them.
In addition the service was bad as well.
Great service from Ricardo! Very attentive and very accommodating! Made sure our wine glasses were filled and brought the food without delay. Grilled shrimp was delicious along with our shrimp appetizers. An added bonus was the band playing in our area. Thanks for a fun evening!
We had been given a $50.00 gift card for Christmas to Landry's. We love sea food so were excited about eating there. While the restaurant is located on the River Walk in San Antonio, it is not located at a level where you can see the River Walk unless you get a table next to the windows. The building is old and not very well maintained. I had Red Fish and my wife had stuffed Flounder. We thought the food was good, but not exceptional. We have had better sea food in Laredo, Texas at both La Lagoona and and Puerto Palenque. We ordered six fresh oysters on the half shell for an appetizer and drank water. We had Chocolate cake and Key Lime Pie for dessert. The bill was $90.00. We did appreciate the waiters service.
Well worth trying for our Christmas trip to Texas... Ryan our waiter was outstanding.. very personable, gave great recommendations based on his ability to communicate and read his customers!! Excellent service by him even though he was extremely busy, he just kept moving with a smile!!
Overall we had an excellent experience. For adults and one child. The server brought out drink and then dinner for my grandson while adults made up their minds, ate their appetizers, etc. Entree’s were varied; swordfish, shrimp enbrouchette, grilled oysters, and I had Oysters Rockefeller (appetizer)for my entree. The Oysters were over cooked and I should have sent them back. I mean really crispy. I just didn’t want to delay others who would have been finished by the time I got a replacement. Everything else was delicious!
The service made the evening just took the experience to the extra star.
Perfect timing on each service.
Great location loved watching the crowds walking along the Riverwalk.
Definitely worth trying good for almost any ocaisson
Standard wine list is about average but there is a select list be sure to ask for it - even if you are just wine shopping
Landry's food has always been good. We went there for Christmas dinner. It was excellent and so was the service. The one thing that I thought was disappointing was that they no longer include the salad with the main course dinners. It is now an option. I thought that Landry's would be above "cheap" little tricks to raise the bill. They are better than this.
