Landry's Seafood House - Las Vegas - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Crab legs over priced - dry and some clusters old tasting - served one cluster at time and wait time in between was long
Drawn butter - zero taste
Famous salad - didn't understand what was special about it
Mashed potatoes - hardened immediately, sticky, bland
Overall seriously disappointed in the meal.
Very attentive waitresses. The both made sure we have enough drinks and ask if there is something else we wanted. The food came very timely and hot and delicious. Our group was impressed with the service. Our server even knew some of my guests names. Overall experience was wonderful!
Our server was amazing. It was very slow and there wasn't a lot of guest but she was very friendly and made great recommendations (sorry I didn't get her name). The appetizers were the best. Crawfish bread was flavorful and filling. It was a nice quiet spot for a Saturday afternoon.
In a town where you may want CHEAP decent seafood, you don’t have many options. I think there’s only one Red Lobster and then there’s Landry’s. Landry’s is a family of many other companies like Chart House (at the Golden Nugget and a bit higher end,) and others like RainForest Café, Claim Jumper, etc.
Landry’s seafood is always solid. Their lobster bisque is great and all of their seafood platters are tasty. Their Chilean Seabass is not only cheap ($30-$35) but we think one of the best in the city for the value.
So what’s the problem with Landry’s? It’s where it is located. Let’s be honest, it’s in a low rent district which is directly across the street from a low-end, crappy of a dump casino named the Palace Station. The problem you run into is every cheap, dirty scumbag walks across the street to eat here. This is high-end and fancy for them. Each time we go here, it’s full of ghetto swine; most of them being locals too. Not much Landry’s can do about it.
If this establishment were in Summerlin or Henderson, they would be crowded and always busy. Go for the food, but be prepared (especially if you sit in the bar,) to see and hear some loud, obnoxious trash. We go about every 6-8 months, because we have a hankering for some good seafood. We would go more often is we could transport this place to a higher-end part of town.
We were there on a weekday at 5:30 so they weren't very busy. Service was fast and efficient and food came out hot. My only complaint is the server brought the mains out before we finished our salads. That's one of my pet peeves----not pacing the meal properly. Food was good, I had scallops and my husband had the snapper, nice size portions. First time there and we will go back.
Landry's food quality lacked in the simplest ways. The appetizers we had were not that hard to cook and simply were not cooked right.. the fried green tomatoes were mushy because they were cut so thin and fried in not hot enough grease. Presentation lacked completely. I used to go to Landrys alot back in the day, but it has gone down hill very much . When I called to ask when the happy hour gets busy in anticipation of trying it out, I was told by machala that it starts getting busy at 11:30a which didn't even answer my question. I asked when in the evening does it start getting busy - she still said 11:30a is when happy hour starts. I then asked to speak to a manager, and the manager said the SAME thing. I almost didn't come, thinking we wouldn't have a seat and when we got there, there was hardly anyone there. Very BAD representation of the brand. The dining room was empty too. It was very disappointing.
This was our fourth time dining at Landry's restaurant. Our meals were delicious as usual. My daughter and I had the lobster tail - wonderful! My husband had the seafood platter. He ate and ate, not wanting to stop! My brother had the red snapper, prepared to his particular taste. We had desserts - the mini sampler and an ice cream sundae - which were also yummy! Highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back for a fifth time no doubt! I do want to add our waiter was very attentive and we had excellent service.
My wife ordered an extra dirty vodka martini, with no preference on the type of vodka. When she tasted it, it tasted like cinnamon or something sweet, not as an extra dirty vodka martini should taste. She sent it back and ordered another one. The second one was fine.
We ordered oysters Rockefeller. It appeared there was sea salt on the oysters and way too much sea salt. The main thing we tasted was the salt, not the oysters or spinach. We didn't eat two of the oysters due to the salt content.
Started off with a cool (NOT COLD) bottle of Prosecco... actually, add ice just to be able to drink it. I probably should have just sent it back. After we ordered our food, I noticed a table of 8 people requested to be moved. After the move was completed, 2 employees proceeded to repair a table that required lots of banging. Finally, the manager went over and told them to stop. Atmosphere reminds me of a Red Lobster without the tactic decor.
The salads were great... the appetizer (Oyster Rockefeller) was just okay. My main course was suppose to have risotto... it tasted like a very dry wild rice. My Mahi Mahi was good but I didn't care for the cranberries added... I picked the off. My friend had the fried shrimp and he said they were good but again, not great. Free to go dessert was a nice surprise and delicious but clearly not in house made.
My wife and I eat here a few times a year and the food has always been great. So we were very surprised at how poor the food was. The Mahi -mahi was very tough and very dry, our guest had to send back his meal because the shrimp was so over cooked you could not even chew it. The waitress was great and had the cook make a new meal and it was fine. Our other guest had to send back her Fish and Chips because the fish was cold in the center. Out of 4 meals all had issues. Not sure what has happened to such a great place. Waitress was GREAT, but the kitchen needs help. Dinner for 4 and 2 well drinks 1 Beer $187.00 NOT worth $50.00
Hope they fix it. We now know why all the empty tables on a Friday night, to many other good places in Las Vegas to eat.
Also a note for the Manager, you should not argue with your cooking staff in the dinning area, take it in the kitchen!
Went for the AYCE crab legs. Could have gotten better at a Chinese buffet for a fraction of the price. They were dried out and stringy and some were even "jerky" like. Ended up with more in the bone bowl that were inedible. Potatoes served with the dinner were completely tasteless. The salad was fresh and tasty. The appetizer of "New Orleans oysters" was extremely misleading as well. I've had New Orleans oysters and they weren't even close. Like the crab legs, they were way over cooked and dry.
The service however was outstanding. Laura was very accommodating taking the crab legs back to the kitchen for remedy, only to come back slightly better. The drinks were delicious.
I treated my sister to Landry's for her Birthday Lunch. It was disappointing that King Crab Legs were no longer on the AYCE menu but the snow crab legs were delicious and filling. A decrease in price is highly recommended since we are used to paying @ $35 for AYCE snow crab legs and $50 for King Crab Legs.
We arrived at 6 it was slow paced.
The server was friendly, but we were never given her name, she neglected to offer drinks and she spoke so fast that we couldn't understand the house salad description. One meal came with a dessert which we didn't receive it nor did she mention that she would serve it mid meal. I just felt she was unorganized and needed to perfect she skill a bit. We ordered 2 bread puddings and 2 crème brûlées when they arrived they were tossed in the bag, simply tying the bag could have prevented that. Overall kind of disappointed in the service.
My husband and I were celebrating getting new jobs after relocating from Georgia. We've eaten at Landrys in 3 different states. The Vegas location by far has been the best! We love seafood, it's our favorite to order when we go out. The is portions are large, the food is flavorful and very fresh. I've never had to worry or wonder if the seafood was going to be fresh and over cooked. This place does it perfect. That's why we've always gone back to Landrys for over 5 yrs now. We raised our daughter up coming here. And plan to continue visiting. Awesome place!!
Got the Caribbean Red Snapper, the chef's special, and it was awful! Last I checked, snapper is a whitefish, but this was black meat throughout. They brought me a second one out, and it to was marbled with black, nasty meat. It tasted so fishy, like tuna fish. The staff was great, but can't believe Mr. Fertitta would let this go. Should have never been served...both times. However, I like the place very much, and will go again, but this time was a doozy.
