Where did this restaurant go? It used to be cool with a broad menu, good steaks, interesting bistro sides and salads. Now, the menu is way pared down - no more hangar steak or ribeye, frisee salad, many other things. The lighting is a bit brighter now so it seems less cool. Slipshod table service although our waiter was fine. This place has gone to the tourists. It needs to close and be reborn as something special. (I used to go to this restaurant both downtown and uptown since both opened, so I've seen the steep decline.)
As a long standing customer and fan of Landmarc, I have been disappointed the last several times I've eaten here. Recently at lunch I added grilled chicken to the caesar salad- it was ice cold rubber. The new menu has eliminated many of the vegetarian options. The customer to wait staff ratio is very off kilter. After 15 minutes we placed our drink order. A server then swooped by our table dropping off a crudite platter, which we thought was complimentary, until another server swooped back and grabbed it - the table next to us had ordered it. Disappointing food and service.
I have had great times at Landmark but this was not a good experience. Lunchtime on a Monday and the restaurant was nearly empty which made me sad. Even though it was not crowded, the kitchen got our order wrong twice. Overall I would say it is slipping.
Normally the food here is reliably good, but last Sunday our food was cold and ordinary. We usually love the bone marrow starter but it was nauseatingly cold when barely cooked when it was served to us.
The waiter overcharged our friend. He would paid in double if he didn’t notice. The waiter knew about the mistake and didn’t correct before we complained. Too bad!
Good service and food . Had a very nice table by the window
Great dinner and excellent wait staff!
It's not super common to find a place that offers good food, good drinks, and is truly kid-friendly. There's also room for strollers! They don't pack people in like sardines, and they offer crayons and paper for the littles to scribble on. Add to that a truly fantastic French toast and a yummy Bloody Mary and what more can one ask for?
The restaurant doesn’t do any substitutions. We also asked them 3 times to put a candle on the dessert and they forgot.
Great food and location! Try to get a table facing Columbus circle.
Very disappointing, eat here often and was so surprised by the greatly reduced menu. I’m a vegetarian and there’s literally nothing for me to eat on the menu. Wait service is great.
I love Landmarc, and Chef Murphy. The staff is gracious and professional and the food is top notch! The Mediterranean salad is chock full of goodness, as is the classic tartare (my fav).
The homemade caramels at the end of your meal are a sweet added touch.
Nice atmosphere and pleasant service. Food was good, but not great. Very expensive for what you get. It was disturbing that they would not substitute one side for another (of lesser value) because of a strict 'no substitutions' rule. I think it's better to make the customer happy that stick to strict rules like that.
Food is delicious, service professional, noise level almost unbearable.
Food was fair, menu limited, had to ask two or three times to get a birthday candle in a skimpy dessert. You have to ask for bread or it is not offered.
We always love Landmarc. Staff is terrific. We thought the menu could have more variety, however.
I rarely write reviews but this experience was so bad. We sat with no one greeting us for more than 20 minuets. The waitress was so busy we were barely able to flag her down to get some water refills. Food was lukewarm, diner quality. Overall it’s not worth the $250 bill. One restaurant to cross off.
What a disappointment. My sister and I went prior to an event at Jazz at Lincoln Center in the hopes of starting our night with a special meal. From the service (charmless) to the food (unremarkable) the whole experience was a letdown. Even the restroom was messy! Next time, we'll be visiting one of the other excellent neighborhood options.
Landmarc is one of our dependable, favorite spots. It’s upscale enough that the adults enjoy it, and the perfect kids’ menu and giant picture windows keep our kids happy. The food is beautifully prepared every time. The cocktails are fun and the wine list is well-planned. Looking forward to our next visit!
Good food, nice atmosphere, service a bit slow and more vegetarian options would be welcome.
