We make British food with a classic or modern slant. We source our ingredients from the local fields, woodlands and waters. Everything is cooked on the premises, including the sourdough bread and the icecreams.
The Good Food Guide (2023) says: "A fittingly quaint old building, complete with original features, given a suave modern twist via grey panelling and contemporary furniture. Chef-proprietor Martin Peacock has built his menu on classical French traditions and impeccable sourcing and there’s real creativity and originality on show here. The international wine list offers a decent but not overlong selection, with accessible pricing.

Vegetarian: we will always offer at least one starter and one main vegetarian choice. However, we cannot cater for vegans.

    Due to current government Covid-19 rules, we cannot welcome a party larger than 6p. We welcome parties 8-12p on a general basis. However, for Saturday nights we are only able to accommodate a maximum of 8p. For larger parties (13–32), we are happy to create special menus which you and your guest preorder from. The latter would be available Wednesday to Friday, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch.You can only book a maximum of 6 people via Open Table. Please call us if your party is larger than that and we are happy to assist to find a suitable time for you.

    We have eaten in the Landgate many times as the food and service are exceptional. Once again, the service was very good and the food was delicious. However, they were very quiet and it shoeds as we felt rushed through our food. We were actually in the restaurant for just over an hour which was not a relaxing experience. We will be back though!

    Landgate Bistro is my favourite place for a meal which is always special, beautifully cooked local and seasonal ingredients and every dish created with skill and care. It's consistently excellent and we have never had the slightest disappointment. The staff are charming, efficient but not too efficient, and knowledgable about the food.

    We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Landgate bistro, and the food was incredible. The service was also brilliant. Not intrusive, but regular check ins. The complimentary bread and amouse bouch (?) were a lovely addition and also delicious! It was a special occasion dinner for us so not somewhere we could afford all the time, but definitely worth it.

    I was really impressed with the richly flavourful and skill-fully put together dishes, as well as the lovely atmosphere created by the charming interiors, warm and friendly staff, and the perfectly matched music playlist in the background. I’d recommend the sea bass as the standout dish, but I’m excited to return to try more of the unique ice cream flavours made in house.
