Very noisy, small portions for the price
Food was a little overpriced. I had the sea bass and it was small and tasteless apart from a spicy vegetable. I was disappointed as last time I rated the food 5 stars as the swordfish was incredible. The desert menu needs a little work!
The wines recommended by the sommelier were not to our tasting as we know our wines and what we like. However he was very gracious and did not charge us for one of the wines which we did not drink. The restaurant was busy but was so noisy we couldn’t hear each other ( we here was 6 of us so great to have a round table ) I do love the decor. We will go back as it’s close to home and hopefully things will improve!
Great food, service and ambiance.
I would definitely recommend it and return w friends!
We didn’t wait long at all.
My server was not attentive and very slow. We were also seated next to the kitchen and it was not an enjoyable atmosphere.
I was really disappointed after my last dinner at L'Amicio. We ordered multiple rounds of drinks, shared a number of plates for dinner and ordered a couple of desserts to share. Our waiter was nice but took his time bringing our drinks. This wasn't a huge problem as we weren't in a rush. Once our food arrived, various staff members constantly kept coming over to the table to clear plates when we were clearly still eating. The staff needs to communicate better with one another because the constant disruptions were making our experience much less enjoyable than it could have been. In one instance, one bus boy came over less than a minute after another bus boy had just been at the table looking to clear some plates. I felt that this was rude especially because we ordered generously for ourselves - it wasn't like we were sharing a salad four ways for hours on end. My guests and I were really feeling rushed. Almost immediately upon taking our last bite of dessert the hostess came over and basically told us we had to leave the table because they had another reservation waiting. Yes, we had been there for two hours, but those two hours were filled with lots of food and drinks. What really upset me was than on our way out we passed FOUR empty tables. All in all, what could have been a spectacular dinner was really soured by the terrible service.
We were really excited to try this place because we walk by it all the time. It was a great location & the food was fine. Now that we’ve experienced it however we can check it off our list.
Great lunch meeting spot
We were greeted by the hostess and manager right away. Very kind and brought directly to our table. We had a 5:30 reservation but had no problem seating us right away at 5 when we arrived.
Brandon our server was kind and attentive. He greeted us right away and took our drink order. They were made quickly and promptly dropped off at our table and we placed our food order.
Burrata: DELICIOUS. the squash was a perfectly sweet compliment to the creamy burrata and savory pesto. The bread also was super crunchy!
Grilled Octopus: one of my favorite things to order on a menu and it did not disappoint! Tender and tons of flavor. Maybe a little too much lemon but otherwise delicious.
Blackened Scallops: cooked to perfection. Super flavorful. I HATE endive and I loved this dish!!
Brussel sprouts side: sprouts are one of my favorite veggies. Complimented with sweet honey and salty guanciale? What’s not to like!
Dessert: peanut tartuffo and chocolate cake... with caramel gelato. All around amazing.
Also, the busboys were great. I usually ask for a pitcher of water when we go out because I drink so much. My glass was NEVER empty and I never had to hunt someone down to fill it. I would definitely come back!!
Food was tasty, but service was rushed. Staff were cleaning up around us while we were still eating and proceeded to bring us the bill while we still had food on the table
Even at lunch the noise level was unbearable. Could not even hear the waitress!! Otherwise all good
No complaints the food was good, wine not so much
Overall a really good experience. When we mentioned a wobbly table someone came over to fix it. The service was great and the food was great. The only draw back was the noise level and how close you were to the next table. I guess that is part of being a “hip” NYC restaurant.
Great dinner before we saw a show. Would def return to eat again!
The best restaurant in the area - the food is delicious, the service is great.
L’amico is my favorite restaurant. Food is delicious and ambiance is great. Our waiter this time was a bit grumpy but usually the service is fine.
The food is always good
My office is around the corner and this is my quick go-to place which sadly has been declining in service each time I go. Lax staff, cancelled the 2nd round of drinks because they were taking so long to come and they were still on bill. Just bad. Time to find a new go-to place for a quick lunch or dinner.
Incredible food and service!
Perfect place for a birthday brunch. Great staff!
I ate at the bar yesterday the food was absolutely delicious!
I highly recommend the yellowtail crudo, it’s a very elegant dish in taste and presentation!
Always terrific knowledge waitstaff , Christopher was the Sommelier. recommended different beer and wine.
Discovered L’Amico b/c it is located in the Eventi, my go to NYC hotel. Come back for the food. Have had special events here as well. Truly outstanding. Watching the chef choose truffles direct from a purveyor from France added a level of authenticity that was fantastic.
Food was great, sommelier was very helpful. The ambiance for a place near MSG was amazing - much better than most places around there. The service was ver slow and there was one miscommunication, but I’d still go back for food and ambiance before a midtown show.
Pure perfection! My daughter and I were visiting from PA, and had an amazing meal! Staff is the best! Sam, the manager, was amazing! She checked on us several times to make sure we were good. Best Italian food in NYC!❤️❤️
Pure perfection! Amazing food and staff!
Cool setting and tasty food
Highlight: The wood-roasted chicken entree is Whole30 friendly with no substitutes!
Last day in New York ~ a great lunch was in order and this was on our list. Every little thing was excellent!
Great lunch, with interesting choices. Friendly service, even with the lunch rush. I will definitely go again.
Waiter was great.
I love this restaurant, the food is delicious!
The seating was a bit cramped, I couldn't sit comfortably or get in/out of my seat without hitting the person behind me.
Went for the first time for a friends birthday dinner. They don’t seat you unless everyone’s there, it was only the two of us and they still made us wait. The food was amazing though. Got the clams pasta and heirloom tomato pizza (HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH) and the arugula salad. We also got the tiramisu which is not the normal you would expect - I probably won’t order that again.
Service was extremely slow/ it took a while for me to get the attention of someone to get the check or put in our order: once I realiZed that I put in our whole food order the first time our waiter came. Overall food was good but service was lacking.
Having lunch with my cousins from France
Overall Great Experience
I went to L'Amico for my Birthday dinner expecting great service and food. The server ignored us for the first 25 minutes, was rude when I had questions about wine. When he realized I wanted to buy a bottle, he was friendly for like 1 minute while he grabbed the Sommelier (who was wonderful). After that service was super slow, he checked on us once and though I sat next to the kitchen, my pizza came out cold. The Sommelier had to ask if I wanted a Birthday dessert, by that time I was so disappointed I just asked for the check. If you're looking for something special, this is not the place.
Post birthday. Sommelier was excellent. Helped us pick a great bottle wine in our price range.
Service was slow. Pizzas were average at best.
Great food, great drinks and great service. Great spot close to Penn. Looking forward to return.
We've been here a few times and always enjoyed it. This evening our server was great to start, then after the restaurant got crowded, she dissapeared on us. We waited 20 minutes to order desert, and when we told her, her response was "I was very busy." We left this as a comments for the restaurant but they decided not to reach out to us. The food and drinks are always excellent, but I remain a stickler for good service.
The food is very good, and it's expensive. So for that reason, I think the service should always be excellent. Getting your food delivered before drinks is a rookie move. This happened both times I ate here. And the first time, 3 people asked me if we wanted tap water (yes) and then it wasn't delivered for another 5 minutes after that. This place gets very crowded because of its location, and the decibel level is frightening. Since the food is good, I would recommend to a friend, with the caveats above. Also, their wine list is really good.
