Food was good quality, not spectacular. Would recommend the mushroom pizza. Helping sizes could have been a bit larger for the appetizers but the entrees and desserts were well proportioned. The server was very friendly but relatively new so not overly knowledgeable about the menu.
I arrived a few minutes early for my 7 pm reservation and the noise in the restaurant was so bad that everyone was shouting to their companions, and it was so crowded that there was no place to wait. They seated me in a part of the restaurant where some kind of an alarm was going off, piercing my ears. I asked to be seated elsewhere (I wasn't the only one; most of the people in that area were trying to bail out of the area). However, they were overbooked and no tables were available in the outdoor area, which was the only place that was moderately quiet. So I left without being served. It was a bad scene.
Great experience. Beautiful setting. Servers were friendly and attentive. Dishes from apps through salad and main course well presented and delicious. Definitely recommend this gem.
Food is outstanding; service can sometimes be a bit too relaxed ("Oh waiter, oh waitress, where art thou?), but a fine place to dine nonetheless
Food good. Surprised no Jack Daniels .
Tables small. Very busy.
My bf said the prosciutto antipasti was the best thing he’d ever had in his life
Lively atmosphere, great service, good food. A very nice choice if you’re in the theatre district
One main complaint - portion sizes were extremely small. Ordered the scallops for $36 and received 3 medium sized scallops. It was the size of a small appetizer. Son ordered filet mignon which also was terribly small for $40. 2 very small pieces. Recommended the restaurant to friends who also complained to me about the serving sizes - they ordered pasta. Afraid I wont be coming back after enjoying the restaurant for years. Penny wise and pound foolish.
I do not recommend this place. We booked this restaurant for our Thanksgiving dinner and it was not money well spent. We arrived and had to wait 45 minutes before flagging down our waiter to order. The first part of our 72 dollar menu was focaccia - this never arrived so we eventually had to request it ourselves, and it was not focaccia but just toast bread (a small triangle per person). We ordered our menu choices - the appetizers were very good and the mains too. Unfortunately the only vegetarian option for the main tasted the same as the only appetizer on the menu (both were butternut squash dishes). With the fixed menu came 3 family-style sides - we received two bowls of mashed potatoes and the Brussel sprouts and spaghetti squash never came. We asked the waiter and he informed us the spaghetti squash was finished and no more was available - he never informed us when the potatoes arrived that this dish was never going to come. We waited more and the Brussel sprouts also never came - we asked again and they said the kitchen was also out. After we finished our mains we were also informed they no longer had apple pie, meaning 2/5 of our table didn’t receive the desert they requested. At the end of the night we had paid 72pp for a fixed menu which was missing 3 components, and where we had to flag our waiter down 7 times to request missing or “delayed” items which were never going to arrive anyway. When we requested our wine to be crossed from the bill the waiter informed us the menu was “cheap” to begin with and that he was waiting for our whole party to arrive to take our order (we still waited for 30 minutes to order as a whole party before we had to finally request our order to be taken). Very disappointing for our Thanksgiving evening - our experience could have been salvaged with a pleasant customer service at the end of the evening, but sadly that was not the case! Good food but not what we paid for or expected.
Fantastic Thanksgiving dinner! The sformato was unbelievable.
This place is lovely (specially inside). The thanksgiving dinner was amazing and the service was 10/10! I strongly recommend the raspberry and pomegranate spirit.
Thanksgiving dinner with family
Food and service was good, mostly efficient
Always amazing food. The pizza and meatballs are insane.
Excellent food, great service, and beautiful space.
Always a good experience at L'Amico. However, The outside corner seat was a bit drafty.
Food is excellent, must try the Brussels sprouts and the French toast !!!!
Good service too
Nothing special to me. Good food. Service ok…………..
The food was excellent! The pizza and branzino were fantastic! There was some confusion with our order and our server seemed a bit unsure of the specials. Over all, the other staff more than made up for it!
Sat outside - food was excellent
Sat in their glass enclosed outdoor dining space and it was very comfortable. Food & service always good!
Pizza was burned. They were too anxious to get us out.
Excellent dining experience and the staff were particularly accommodating and actively helpful with one of our party who was in a wheelchair.
Staff is awful. Food is good.
The food was stellar. Each person in our party was pleased with their meal. What bothered us though, was the wait and bus staff lurking around our table the entire time. They would swoop in and grab plates and silverware whenever they deemed it was time - not necessarily when we were finished eating. Several times we had to ask someone to bring a plate and silverware because the person was still eating yet their plate had been cleared. It was also very weird to have several people just standing around our table watching us eat. L’Amico will be a a restaurant we return to frequently if they can get the service side fixed.
Great meal, great service!
Had a great lunch. The waiter was energetic, pleasant & attentive. The food was delicious. But it was very loud which made it difficult to carry on a conversation with my business guest directly across our small table.
Great atmosphere, good food and earnest,if not polished, service. Will be back. Solid choice
The ambience and food was outstanding!
Very good pizza and salad, served quickly. Waitress was inexperienced and in a hurry, broke water glasses and made a mess. Should have offered us something for getting us set at a business meal.
A great place for lunch not far from Penn Station. The omelet soufflé was absolutely delicious and came with a lovely side salad.
Exceptionally rude waiter who guilted/shamed us for not ordering alcohol or appetizers. He also ridiculed/humiliated my teenage daughter who is on a strict low-Fodmap diet for serious GI issues and smirked that she possible can’t be sensitive to all those ingredients and she’s making it up b/c she doesn’t like certain things. (I would rather be told that the chef can’t accommodate changes, which is understandable, versus a nasty, condescending waiter.) I went with my family to celebrate a milestone birthday and we were all upset by the experience.
We had the burrata, yellowtail, mushroom pizza with truffle oil, san daniele prosciutto to start...then the main course: chicken, pasta with clams, bronzino...for dessert the tiramisu, incredibly delicious pudding, and ice cream...all shred between 5 of us..IT WAS FABULOUS!
Took forever to get a glass of water and the server did not check on us and our Meals until we were almost done. 2nd course arrived before we were done with our first. I am super bummed to write this as I have always enjoyed L’Amico. Food is still good if you don’t mind crap service.
Wine was excellent and wine sommelier was excellent and made fantastic recommendations. Noise level was high. Food fine but not great
always great meal, love the selection and service is very good.
went for brunch. excellent food and decor. sat next to the open kitchen.
The food was great but service was terrible. Will not go back.
Five stars from start to finish. Each course was absolute bliss. I don't think you could get a menu item that wasn't good at this restaurant. I left wanting to return and try more of their delicious offerings. An excellent culinary destination worth traveling to, but also central to Herald Square, Madison Square Garden, and the Garment District. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, it does not disappoint.
Really great food and wine list. Server was a good guy but MIA for most of the meal and the AC was blasting even though it was 55 degrees outside. Would go back again though.
