What Insiders Are Saying
Finally, someone figured out that an Italian restaurant near Penn Station that serves food people want to eat would do well.
Food was great! Service was AMAZING.
There was a wine expert that recommended us the perfect wine for out taste.
Overall experience was terrific!
To much wait for everything. The food was just ok.
The quality and presentation of the food is amazing. I especially appreciate their attention to detail.
Trés bons plats, un peu chers pour la taille de la portion.. Une très bonne option si vous n'avec pas une grosse faim. Produits frais et plats relevés !
Great first time experience
Great food. Veal meatballs and short rib were superb
We loved our experience at L'Amico. Its a beautiful place! The service was absolutely wonderful, our waiter was so attentive. The food was terrific, the wine was exceptional. Our only concern was how tightly packed the tables were. Otherwise 5 star all around!
always a lively and delicious experience for a business lunch and/or a social gathering after work. We really enjoy the ambiance as well as the eclectic food options for a place so close to the office.
Food: The food was extremely salty. Both the salad and pasta I ordered were heavily seasoned. My date ordered the skirt steak which was prepared well.
Service: The wait staff was knowledgeable but a bit curt. The hostess was very kind and welcoming.
I had a decent experience but the food was not what I was expecting. I will likely not return.
The food and service L'Amico are both equally amazing.
Would come back over and over again.
A fabulous place to dine - this was my second dinner experience and I have yet to be disappointed. The attention to detail from the presentation, food, and service is impeccable.
Love the atmosphere and menu but disappointed in this visit. We chalked it up to being Super Bowl Sunday.
Sent fennel salad appetizer back as loaded with pepper and spice with no lemon dressing. New one arrived but wasn’t able to eat it as the entrees and pizzas arrived so no room on tiny table for 5 people.
The Bolognese pasta entrees were far spicier than in past. Why ruin such a great veal sauce with all that other spice?
The sopresatta pizza had a speck of cheese on it. Globs of sauce. Not really edible.
Mushroom white sauce pizza was much better.
Desserts of peanut butter crunch, gelato and torte were very good.
Service was indifferent as server was overwhelmed by having either too many tables or sheer ineffectiveness.
Every one of the servers and waitstaff were so personable that it made our dinner a really pleasurable experience, especially one of the busboys.
Great food and a bit easier to get in for brunch than other nearby places. That said, a little pricey.
The food here is great. I had an Open Table gift certificate I was using. The first time I went, the service was so bad, that my dinner guest complained. The manager agreed the service was appalling having sent our server home in the middle of our sitting due to illness, there just was no follow up, no one checking in to take drink orders etc. The service was so bad, they comped the whole thing. The second time I go to use the certificate, they firstly had issue trying to process the certificate. The waitress brought over the check, and when signing off, I was so busy talking and genuinely tipped on the balance and not the overall balance before applying the certificate. I totally understand that many servers depend on their tips to live, but the service was not outstanding in any shape or form, it was just ok. But the waitress, came over to the table and asked "Was everything ok with the service tonight?" "Yes, why?" I responded. to which she stated: "Well you left less than an 18% tip, and I just wanted to make sure everything was ok with the service you received tonight?" Now bear in mind I left a 15% tip on the entire balance and 30% on remaining. Firstly, a tip is exactly that, no one is ever entitled to a tip, but to complain about it is in my opinion rude and wrong. While I was having dinner with a long time colleague and friend, the waitress approached the table not knowing were we on a first date or a business dinner, but had no issue in coming to the table to take issue with her 15% tip and potentially create a very embarrassing scenario. As I said the original tip was a genuine mistake, and I ended up tipping well over 20%, but I personally think it is rude for a server to approach the table in such a manner regardless of the situation. Did your mother never tell you not to pry in other people's purses? While the food is AMAZING here, I won't be back as fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Service is atrocious!!
We had like 3 different servers which made it confusing for them and us. But the food was great!!
Fanastic mid-town eatery for business lunches, fine dinner out, and creative fare.
We arrived early for our reservation and the restaurant didn't seat us though there were tables available so that started out meal off on the wrong foot. While I understand that other factors may be involved, it truly felt like she was waiting for our reservation time - as best as I can tell the table we sat at was empty for at least 30 minutes before we were seated.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious so I can understand why it is crowded and hard to get a reservation.
Most delicious Meatballs. Pipe pasta is little over price but still very good. It does get packed here with limited waiting staff.
This is now the 4th time we have been here due to its proximity to our home. I think that I need to describe my last visit and how horrible an experience it was. To start our reservation was for 7:15. Unfortunately our guests didn’t arrive until 7:40 and we consistently asked to be seated and they refused to seat us until all were there. They said they had a table available and we told them that our party was just outside parking and they gave our table away. We then waited for over a half hour for another table. NOT WORTH THE WAIT. We were then seated in front of the open kitchen. The waitress did not mention any special s. And we didn’t even know they had any. The food arrived 3 of the 4 meals were good the Salmon was horrendous. I asked for medium well and it was fine on the thin end but literally raw and mushy in the thicker areas. As I was eating and looking into the open Kitchen area I noticed a worker handling someone’s salad with his bare hands. Very disappointing. He then made a second plate which was for him and he squared behind the counter with his head above the counter and ate right there while below the counter. To make matters worse after he finished he then turned his back to the restaurant and started picking his teeth. He did that twice. Disgusting. He did not leave the area and I didn’t see him wash his hands. At that point I had to ask for the check and wouldn’t touch another thing in that restaurant. I did not tell my guests they ordered dessert. The restaurant did take my Salmon off the check and did send a rather bad Tiramisu which was rather watery to the table for no charge
Excellent food, service and extraordinary flavor....made for a great dining experience!
We went before going to see a show on Broadway. Great for kids and diners with food sensitivities.
Amazing food!! A little bit on the expensive side though.
Service at the bar and the table was terrific. Delicious food too.
I think our waiter may have been new and so there was someone “watching over him” who kept interrupting what our waiter was doing which was unpleasant, our guy was doing great! Only other thing is that I wish the salmon lunch dish came with the salad that the chicken had. If there was the option it would have been great but overall great food and experience.
always great to dine here - great service and food
My boyfriend and I got two of the pies and an appetizer, great customer service, a little noisy, but overall great experience. Best if your looking for a sit down wine dinner, lots of great choices for alcoholic beverages.
Loved the decoration and the seating arrangement. The food was tasty and the wine list was extensive. The waiter took a while to take return to take our order, so if you are in a rush to go somewhere, this might not be a place for you to go to.
This is my go-to spot in midtown. Love the food, the menu constantly changes seasonally. Lots of great dishes to share especially the pizzas. Really fun place for groups, either a work lunch or a dinner celebration. It has a very trendy feel, but is still super casual and relaxed. I'd totally recommend!
Great place to dine prior to a game/ show at Madison Square Garden
Good, not outstanding. Portions on the smaller side. Service a little slow - they had also run out of tea on a Sunday.
Delicious, as always, and can’t wait to go back!
Top restaurant. GOOD food, great service
The Maitres D’s we so attentive they would walk around and immediately spot if you needed a drink and ask if you needed anything. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was delicious. We went there before going to MSG for an event.
The food was outstanding. Scallops were fresh and delicious
Service was very attentive.
Very busy and active place. Loud and has a classic NYC energy to it. Service was good but staff didn't seem to know who got what dishes so a few awkward moments figuring out who gets what. Food was good. Appetizers good. Not spectacular but good enough to be pretty happy for a casual work meal or night out on a date. Can't complain but not going to jump out of my seat to go back. Good place.
The staff is friendly and efficient. However you can still sit back and relax is you wish. Lunch food options were great and the portion generous but not too much.
Came here for dinner with old college roommates. Was looking forward to a nice night out and catching up with old friends over some wine & delicious food. Our waitress greeted us and offered to help with wine selection & tastings since the menu had all Italian brands. After bringing over the first tasting a few of us didn't like it and wanted to switch to something else and she became immediately irritated & blamed us for misguiding her on what we wanted. After getting our new glasses of wine she didn't come back over to our table for another half hour to take our order. When we said we wanted to split some appetizers (2) and pizzas (3) she scoffed and said "kind of light, but okay". Her rude comments made us feel like amateurs & like we shouldn't be dining there if we didn't want to order full entrees. While the food was fantastic, the service was extremely disappointing.
great food and wine
