What Insiders Are Saying
Finally, someone figured out that an Italian restaurant near Penn Station that serves food people want to eat would do well.
This is my go-to spot in midtown. Love the food, the menu constantly changes seasonally. Lots of great dishes to share especially the pizzas. Really fun place for groups, either a work lunch or a dinner celebration. It has a very trendy feel, but is still super casual and relaxed. I'd totally recommend!
Great place to dine prior to a game/ show at Madison Square Garden
Good, not outstanding. Portions on the smaller side. Service a little slow - they had also run out of tea on a Sunday.
Delicious, as always, and can’t wait to go back!
The Maitres D’s we so attentive they would walk around and immediately spot if you needed a drink and ask if you needed anything. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was delicious. We went there before going to MSG for an event.
The food was outstanding. Scallops were fresh and delicious
Service was very attentive.
Very busy and active place. Loud and has a classic NYC energy to it. Service was good but staff didn't seem to know who got what dishes so a few awkward moments figuring out who gets what. Food was good. Appetizers good. Not spectacular but good enough to be pretty happy for a casual work meal or night out on a date. Can't complain but not going to jump out of my seat to go back. Good place.
The staff is friendly and efficient. However you can still sit back and relax is you wish. Lunch food options were great and the portion generous but not too much.
Came here for dinner with old college roommates. Was looking forward to a nice night out and catching up with old friends over some wine & delicious food. Our waitress greeted us and offered to help with wine selection & tastings since the menu had all Italian brands. After bringing over the first tasting a few of us didn't like it and wanted to switch to something else and she became immediately irritated & blamed us for misguiding her on what we wanted. After getting our new glasses of wine she didn't come back over to our table for another half hour to take our order. When we said we wanted to split some appetizers (2) and pizzas (3) she scoffed and said "kind of light, but okay". Her rude comments made us feel like amateurs & like we shouldn't be dining there if we didn't want to order full entrees. While the food was fantastic, the service was extremely disappointing.
great food and wine
I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious their food was! The host was nice and courteous and sat us immediately. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive during our business lunch meeting. I had the Tuscan Bean soup and the Meatballs appetizer for my entree and it was just right for my small appetite. It was the best meatball Ive ever had! Very tasty and the red sauce was just divine!!! I didnt have dessert but my colleague had their banana bread/pudding and she said it was also the best she had. I will for sure be coming back with my clients as well as my friends and relatives in the near future!
Food was great! Would definitely go again. Quite noisy so wouldn’t suggest for business meeting or if you’re dining with someone hard of hearing. Great atmosphere though.
It was a wonderful evening! Loved everything about it!
good food, but extremely overpriced even for NY restaurant. Small portions. Even the food is very good I wound't recommend it to a friend, there are a lot of places with better value.
L'Amico is a beautiful looking restaurant with lots of atmosphere. A beautiful place. The staff was wonderful from the time they greet you until you leave. The food and drinks were very good.
My only complaint, and this is a big complaint, is that the portions are extremely small. I had the branzino. When I received it I was very surprised considering it was a whole fish and that fish could not have been more than 5 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. The entrée did not come with any sides. So for $30plus dollars I had a small fish with a cream sauce on it. My husband and I were so hungry at the end of the meal, we ordered one of their pies.
I had the oxtail, very flavorful
I have eaten here over one dozen times. The waiter asked us 5 times to order after we only were seated a few minutes
Felt rushed and super tight and over crowded. Entrees came out before we finished our two appetizer .. very disappointing
It gets very loud at dinner, but the food and ambiance and service are great. I love going there, might do lunch next time in hopes of a quieter atmosphere.
Not impressed with the food or the service!! And it’s was way 2 expensive for the quality they serve! Doubt I will return
The hostess at the check-in station was rude and not helpful. She made us wait for 30 mins while tables opened up or remained vacant as we were standing there waiting. I would highly recommend the food though.
Great food, beautiful space. Carl GM is so gracias and welcoming
Excellent food, service, and wine selection.
Pretty good. I ordered the salmon, and it was cooked perfectly. I asked for the side of break and literally got two microscopic pieces for like $5... small portions. I loved the atmosphere and the cocktails looked delicious
Been to L'Amico several times. Love the food and the vibe. Delicious appetizers...hard to choose
1 or 2, Great veggie options, great pizza's and the best Roast Chicken. I order it all the time.
Very pleasant and knowledgeable service.
Will definitely go back!
We dined here for the early seating on New Years Eve. Food was delicious! Festive ambiance for NYE! Service was courteous but felt very rushed - we had a pizza and 4 appetizers delivered before we even received a cocktail! And the busboys cleared plates while people were still chewing the food.
We arrived a a bit earlier than a reservation and was well accommodated .prices were very reasonable ,wine selections was good but pricey, the waitress was a little standoffish and pushy gave the impression of trying to run the check up, overall great atmosphere
Amazing first experience.
We continue to love L'Amico. The setting, the food - really always so enjoyable. For a second time we had the same waiter and he just drops the ball every time. Disappointing. Nice guy. But so distracted and goes missing for long periods of time. Also he brought me a really nice glass of Chardonnay - his pick. We were speaking about it toward the end of the glass and he offered us another pour "on the house." But of course it was on the bill at a whopping $16 for not even a full pour. We let it go. But he needs to up his game.
Superb all around!
Endroit très sympathique et jolie mais pas de grosse quantité
The service is very good. Food came out at same time. The risotto, ravioli and pie was spot on.
Food, scene & wait staff were amazing...hands-down best Christmas night dinner in the city!
Food was delicious and our waitress was amazing !! I totally recommend it
Always enjoy dining at L'Amico. My server, Lina, was outstanding in every way!
Food was definitely not worth the price. Dishes were salty. I am Italian and the sauce tasted more out of a jar than homemade
Typically crowded restaurant with little space or privacy. The food was good, but portions were small and priced extravagantly. Three small meatballs with a slice of toasted focaccia for $21 was outrageous (and the sauce was watery and disappointing). Five tiny slices of delicious tuna---at $17 almost seemed like a bargain although they were the size of a quarter coin and 1/4" thick. The entrees were fine---not great, but also overpriced.
If there is any other alternative in the area----go there. It is not the place to go for a leisurely dinner. You will be rushed out. Before ordering drinks we were asked about our choice of entree. The waiter never stopped asking about our choice of entree. It was clear that table turnover was important, yet with these prices it seemed unnecessary.
This restaurant is a good choice if you area staying at the hotel and there is a hurricane or other natural disaster outside---otherwise consider any alternative.
