L'Ami - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The food was great but the service was a joke. It was so bad it was actually comical. I thought I was on a tv show about to be punked. It was very unfortunate. I would like to list the amount of things that went wrong but I don't have the next 27 years to do so. I've had better service at a middle of no where truck stop diner. It's a shame something so pretty can actually be so ugly. Good bye forever L'Ami.
Dined here for Mother's Day brunch and loved the Mediterranean decor. A majority of the tables are in a patio-like atmosphere surrounded by fountains, greenery, and white and blue accents. It is a gorgeous place for a date, birthday, bridal shower, etc. The food was fresh and tasty without being overpriced, and service was fantastic. We split the Waffle (delicious) and I had the smoked salmon benedict (superb). My parents, who had never been there before, were already planning their next trip back to try dinner. I found myself taking photos of the restaurant on the way out because it's so charming. Will definitely be back!
We asked for quietest table possible and were seated at a lovely 4 person table at the front of the restaurant which was separated from others somewhat. It was perfect for talking and we were happy they remembered our request. My husband had the couscous which should be famous, it is the most interesting and delicious couscous we have had, and he is a "foodie".
I had seabass which was great, the mezze appetizer was really good, and you don't need bread after that. We followed with chocolate souffle which was wonderful. Highly recommend!
My wife and I eat at L'Ami on a regular basis, usually once per month. We have tried most of the choices on the menu, and find both the meats and the fish to be excellent- both in taste and presentation. Each time we visit, there are certain preparations that have been altered, slightly, which makes each dining experience an adventure we look forward to. The service has always been a highlight for us, as at each visit we are treated like special guests.
Food was fantastic! Chicken was cooked perfectly and the strawberry rhubarb dessert was delicious. Service was attentive and excellent. Great vibe and cozy atmosphere with a vibrant night scene. Will definitely return to this neighborhood gem.
This is just a great local neighborhood restaurant serving wonderful food in a beautiful setting.
Service is always friendly, warm and welcoming. The food is always tasty, prepared with love!
Had a lovely brunch last Sunday and everyone was very impressed with the quality of the dishes. The Parisian Omelette and the Scrambled Eggs with French Toast were true hits!
Haven't been here since the restaurant changed its name and was very happy with brunch for a group of 8. Waffles with fresh berries and eggs with grains/veggies were especially tasty. Service was very good. Love the indoor/outdoor ambiance and will definitely be back.
This was Valentine's Day dinner. Food was excellent - quality all the way, prepared and delivered to the table just right. Waitstaff seamless.
Only 'blemish' was that on a cold night, some of the open air tables were cold, despite the portable heaters. Tough balancing too hot at one table and too cold at another, but they came close to pulling it off.
Pricey, but the value was there.
An historic building...still very pretty, although some of the remodeling choices are so-so. In particular, the interior wood paneling near the entrance looks a bit cowboy-themed and doesn't seem to fit the country-French character of the place. We couldn't figure out why the ambient music was up-tempo disco, which also seemed a mismatch...how about Edith Piaf or Francois Hardy? Really good steak frites, though. We'll be back again.
We went for dinner during Dine LA to try a new place and were pleasantly surprised about how good it was... great ambience and the food and drinks were excellent. Excited to try it again. Bacon wrapped scallops with roasted Brussels sprouts to start then grilled sea bass as the main course. All superb!
I have driven by on multiplications and considered stopping in; so when they advertised dine LA we decided to give it a try. It was raining that day so we weren't able to enjoy the lovely patio but they had a nice cozy fire going and it felt warm and inviting in the bar area with the sheepskin chair covers. Our waitress was French as were most of the customers so I'm sure the food besides being great was very authentic. Our waitress was good natured and attentive and I plan to return with my daughter who is a foodie when we can try out the patio.
We had a great experience, as usual. There were some new items on the menu, which were terrific- especially the bacon wrapped scallop with roasted brussel sprouts and balsamic reduction.
There was also an excellent offering on the prix fix option. And, the pricing was very fair.
We were so pleased when we finally booked dinner at l'Ami to find that it still retained the same interior & ambiance of Chez Mimi, the original restaurant founded & managed by 'Mimi.' Wonderful, beautifully prepared dishes with touches of French and Mediterranean influences. High quality ingredients (the filet mignon can be cut with a dinner knife & practically melts in your mouth). We will be back very soon. Highly recommended.
From the beginning to end this was a lovely experience. We sat in the covered outdoors patio, with plenty of heaters, so it was very comfortable. The service from everyone at the restaurant was excellent. It was raining heavily and the busboy ran out to feed my friend's meter. The owner found us an umbrella to get back to the car. The food was excellent and I will definitely go back there sooner than later!
Thank you for a lovely time spent at your restaurant.
I hadn't tried this restaurant since it became L'Ami, but had gone to the prior restaurant for special occasion dinners for years. I couldn't be more pleased with L'Ami. The food was wonderful, the noise level was just above a whisper (OK, maybe that's an exaggeration), the service was superb and invisible!, and they make great chocolate souffles.
I finally decided to make a reservation during the week day, after not being able to make a reservation over the weekend since it was busy. My girlfriend and I had dinner on Tuesday night. It was a very nice dinner! Food was great and our was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back! I highly recommend this restaurant.
