What an excellent restaurant! From ambiance to food to comfort to service and to price. Perfect in every way, even very kid friendly with crayons and paper. We loved it for our family brunch. THANK YOU
Lobster Bisque was interesting, Scallops were outstanding, Lamb was tasty and tender, Filet and Mushrooms was excellent. Tito's and Belvedere at the bar was on point, as was the Tempranillo. A very good night made better by Adrian our wait person.
We love Lalimes - however it was really noisy on Saturday night
The food, service, and ambiance was excellent. It was the perfect Saturday morning brunch. It was both elegant and casual. And I always enjoy my spontaneous conversations with Cindy Lalime. It was a lovely experience.
The only problem is the noise, which has always been the only problem--but it gets worse as the population ages. Terrific food.
I feel fortunate that Lalime's is a short walk from my house. It is an elegant space, the food and service are always great, and I can mostly hear to have a conversation. I have complicated hearing issues so I appreciate that there is no background musc! When the room is full I do have trouble hearing but the whole experience is worth it. And the bar makes an excellent kir royal.
For the second time in consecutive visits, everyone else was served, but my food was seriously delayed, this time (maybe last time too) because another guest was served my meal.
Lovely experience! Thank you 😊
Lalime's has been a reliably great restaurant for such a long time. It's an old friend.
We had brunch/lunch with our friends at Lalime's on a Sunday. It was delightful...many food choices, beautifully prepared and delicious. The dining room is open and has lots of natural light and the seating and space is attractive and comfortable. Great service, great food, great time. We'll be back!!
This was our first visit to Lalime and what a lovely surprise it was. The ambience was warm, the service quick and helpful but not hovering and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back again.
Great Mediterranean menu. Warm ambiance in a craftsman style bungalow. Friendly and attentive service.
We have come here over the years and our visit this Sunday will be our last. In the past this has been a restaurant with good food, service, and atmosphere. No longer. Service was beyond awful. We ordered a salad and two entrees. The Caeser's salad lettuce was very old but otherwise the salad was good. I ordered the halibut burger which was awful. The halibut was not fresh and the breading was terrible. I asked for a glass of wine with the halibut three times and it never appeared. On the third occasion our waitress showed up finally for the third time during our one hour and fourth five minute dinner and asked if there was anything else we needed. I noted nicely I
had asked for a glass of wine on each of her appearances at our table and asked if I might have it. She was very apologetic a d rushed off (presumably to get it?) but after 20 minutes still no wine. She finally walked by our table and I asked for our check and containers for our leftovers. She complied but when she appeared we asked her for the container with the rest of the salad. Again she apologized and told us she had thrown it out! In fairness she offered to have the kitchen make us a new salad. We made the judgement that we didn't have another hour to kill, paid our bill, and left. The waitress was truly very pleasant but either overwhelmed (didn't look like it however) or incredibly incompetant. Not going back. Ever.
Great setting and excellent food; service was a tad slow, but not bad... highly recommended!
My party arrived 20 minutes late, but the restaurant accommodated us quickly and things went smoothly. We had a good table so the noise was moderate. The food and wine excellent, and we were the last patrons out the door. The place was busy, and we had an attentive waiter.
A great Berkeley establishment. highly recommended.
Excellent wine list- why do you leave this out from a review...
But LaLimes provided a totally outstanding dining evening for us
Good to see them totally on their game
Excellent experience, went for our 26th anniversary, might well go back for 27, 28, 29 and 30 should we be so fortunate! Thanks!
Lalime's has become a shadow of its former glorious self.
Caesar salad way delicious and enough to share with three salad lovers. Halibut "burger" also yummy. Service was professional and attentive. Very loud, but it was full of diners. Lights doing something weird - dimming and rising. Not sure why; server seemed vexed by this too. It's my neighborhood restaurant (I can walk) and seems like a very good deal for a special occasion like a birthday. Glad it's still here!
Have been coming to Lalime's for almost 16 years. It's our first date and wedding anniversary place!
Wevhave been going to Lalimes for many many years. Went there for a birthday celebration the other night and was sorely disappointed. I ordered a lamb chop and was served four thin quarter sized slices that were so badly burnt on the edges that all I could taste was grit. My daughter said her hamburger tasted like it came from Denny’s and my husband was just as disappointed in his meal. Will not be back!
The atmosphere is very “Berkeley” , food is okay.
I love Lalime's and I have used the restaurant a number of times in the past. This time however there was one disappointment. No oysters!! I always order oysters..... Otherwise it was once again very nice.
We had a 7:00 reservation, and were seated at 7:30. It took about 10 minutes for anybody to approach us. We had to ask for water and for bread. We ordered as soon as the waiter came over since we didn't want to wait until the drinks were delivered to order food ; he was very nice but not sure if they were understaffed or this is just how it is. The lettuce in the Caesar salad was old - you know how when you have old romaine it turns red and brown? It was red and brown. Asked for another one and waiter apologized and said this was the only lettuce they had. You really SHOULD NOT serve a salad like that. That is the stuff I throw out at home. Two people in our party had the filet. Both said it was both chewy and burned, it depended on what part of the filet you were eating. Not a good piece of meat. My daughter said the salmon was good and my pasta was fine but unremarkable. I had really wanted to like this place; the bill was $200 for four of us and I think you can find somewhere else to dine.
great meal, lovely server, but a little slow in bringing us our wine and main course, which it really a small thing. we also found the maitre d' to be terse. seems to me it's an important thing to have warmth when one walks into a restaurant. the food was great though. perfect greens, lovely baba ganoush, main course too, beautifully plated. we'll be back.
Very pleasant and relaxed time for 6 at brunch. Nicely varied menu, plenty of drink options, tasty dessert options. Light-filled, comfy space. Unhurried atmosphere.
We were celebrating our anniversary. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a table of men who were drinking heavily, speaking loudly, and cursing up a blue streak. The service was really slow, as the restaurant was packed. They were out of my first-choice dish, which was disappointing for a 7:30 reservation. When our food came, I was served the wrong dish - lamb kebab - and I'm a vegetarian. It took time to get the right order. Overall a poor experience.
Lalime's took nearly 2hours to serve up a salad there was a big problem in their kitchen.
Taste level of food was excellent. Dining Room is small and cozy, so you are quite close to partner tables. Cocktails were creative. Food never disappoints!
Excellent and friendly staff, the food was amazing- great choice for a lovely dinner date or birthday celebration.
Lalime's is a favorite for personal celebrations or just an especially excellent meal. It has been so for at least a decade, and has gotten better over the last few years.
A real treat. Wonderful service and Ambiance. The price fix MENU was tasty and unique.
Highly recommend for bday or date night. Will impress.
Service was extremely slow we sat for over 30 min before I had to go ask about our server. Been here a few times but this time I don’t know what happened.
Wonderful food. Not to busy and fairly quiet the night we were there, but can be quit noisy.
So glad we found this hidden gem in Berkeley! Excellent food, perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. Delicious leek salad, and amazing mussels and scallops.
Incredibly delicious food. A perfect marriage of quality ingredients and skilled preparation. Our waiter and the owners were all very gracious and genuinely welcoming hosts. A truly wonderful dining experience for my spouse’s birthday.
Lalime is my "go to" restaurant for special occasions !
We revisited Lalime’s after years of not going. Our long-ago impression was that the food had been too rich, the atmosphere too close and loud. We were pleasantly surprised by a quiet ambience (early evening, on a Thursday) and an uncrowded feeling at a table for two. The dinner choices were appealing. We both chose the same bean stew, featuring garbanzos, fava beans, tomatoes, onions and garlic. We agreed it was tasty, but the proportion of garbanzos overwhelmed the pleasantly spicy stew. We ordered the peach pie for dessert and it came, without being warmed up, with ice cream and chantilly. It looked good, but warming it up would have lightened its density and enhanced its flavor. All in all, we enjoyed a pleasant meal with lovely table service. We decided we would return but not order anything we had tried.
