Lalime's Ratings and Reviews
Very fresh and tasty food, my friend had the rib eye steak, he said it was cooked just the way he
requested, I had salmon and it was perfect, dessert was o.k. Service was outstanding,
will go back for more. Lights went out while dining - made ambiance even better. My tequila
cocktail was one of the best I've had.
LaLimes is getting very popular, we must have had the last place at 6:30, as it was completely full. One needs to make a reservation longer in advance than I did. I was surprised that Open Table did not tell me that the restaurant was not even open on Mondays, merely saying that no reservation closer than 2.5 hours (to 6:30) was possible for "Monday 6th", which was why I made it for the preceding day.
the service and general welcoming atmosphere was lacking on this occasion. mentioned that we are celebrating a birthday in my opentable reservation. that seemed to have been overlooked.
i really think that lalimes is unique and very special. unfortunately on this occasion i was quite disappointed.
While we have had good experiences at Lalime’s on many occasions over the years, this was definitely not one of them. It started off on a bad note when the host was obviously unhappy to find one of our party of 5 was our 18 month old granddaughter. The wait staff, on the other hand, was very pleasant. More important, the food was uneven. The lamb tongue appitizer
Lalime’s is our go to place for any occasion. It’s the first “Fancy” restaurant that we took our daughter to and has never let u last down.
A nice wine list and a wonderful menu. Although the dessert menu this time lacked chocolate, it was a delightful meal.
For our 57th Anniversary we had another couple join us. The table I requested (quiet corner) was spot on. Service was impeccable. Our shared two appetizers were simply delicious. Each of us loved our entrees as well. The end of the evening we, again, shared two desserts. Yumtious!
Two of us are vegetarians, and all were pleased with the options, even though somewhat limited. The service was attentive, and the waitress got one dish wrong so she comped it, which was generous. There is an interesting combination of an informal menu with a fairly formal but comfortable feel to the restaurant, which we all liked.
I love Lalime's. It is so quaint looking from the outside, like just another cute little home in the neighborhood. Once inside, it is a pleasant surprise how elegant and cozy. The menu is seasonal, always something different, but something for all pallets. It is always delicious, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. The unique custom cocktails are fun to try. Save a little room for dessert, because they are another delightful surprise, even if you are like me and don't usually care about the dessert. They are perfect.
We had early dinner after a saturday football game. We were seated in a separate room next to the bar which was perfect for our group of 10. Our waiter was great and the food was very good. Everybody really enjoyed their meal. My wife and I had been here before but most of the rest of our group had not. All agreed LaLime was a very good choice for our dinner.
I invited family for a birthday celebration. We were eight people, including a toddler. and sat at a long table with a cloth divider on both sides of the table. The service was superb and the food lovely. The restaurant never got noisy! We had a great experience. All my guests were happy, including the well behaved toddler.
We have been to Lalime's a few times in the past for special occasions. This time the food was just okay. We consider this restaurant in the fine dine category. The padron pepper appetizer lacked flavor, my salmon dish lacked flavor with the lemon cucumbers topping was a good idea but, it wasn't the best, and my date's rib-eye was just okay extraordinarily fatty, and we know rib-eye steaks must have some fat so that wasn't it. For dessert we ordered the fig tart with vanilla ice cream- that was outstanding. I am probably not returning because there are just too many restaurants in the surrounding area that do a better job.
The food tonight was pretty good. But sadly, the service at this visit was atrocious. Not at all up to the usual standards at Lalime's. Our server was loud and brusque, poured our water like she was slopping pigs - after practically grabbing it out of our hands because SHE wanted to do the pouring (she even said so)-, then huffed and ran off when we weren't completely ready to order (that alone would be fine, we did need a few more minutes, but no need to be rude about it!), and didn't even look at us when she was taking our orders. And in the end, every single item that came out was served to the wrong person (there were four of us). For every course, including wine and coffee. Also - she never asked whether anyone wanted another glass of wine - just whisked the glass away and ran off as soon as it was set down.
I'm hoping she just had a bad day, or perhaps several coworkers called in sick and she was majorly overworked, but at this type of restaurant, I do expect a little more professional service.
The service was terrible on our last visit. Did not take a drink order until 15 minutes after we arrived. 20 to 30 minutes between each course. The food was very good but not as warm as it should be if it had been delivered right after it was prepared. This was the first time we had such a bad experience at this restaurant.
Lalimes has long been a favorite standby and I've had great, memorable meals here but I have to say this one was a bit disappointing. the service was uncharacteristically off, with our initial drink order taking quite some time, perhaps 15 minutes to arrive. our first course (simple, a dozen oysters) took another few min to arrive after that. our mains, all ordered together, arrived about 5 minutes apart, with our wine order arriving another 5 min after that. the oysters were delicious, my dinner date's main was also, but mine (a steak) was undercooked, and overly salty.
For what it's worth, our first round of drinks (the one that really took forever) was comped, and that's much appreciated. But my standards for Lalimes are deservedly high and this meal didn't quite reach them.
We have been dining at lalimes for years... often a go-to for anniversaries and Birthdays. Our experience this week was underwhelming. The service was not as it used to be, even after explaining it was my husband's birthday no special acknowledgement, took a long time to take our order and spotty service with times where it Felt like they forgot about us. The food was good, not great, and we bought a bottle of wine. It was not even crowded but lacked the old touches it used to bring. Underwhelming would be the perfect word to describe our experience and we won't be back anytime soon.
