Always, always, always: high quality, great service, friendly staff -- and that little extra touch. Whether it's that first glass of sparkling wine, the insane cheese tray -- constantly changing -- or the freshest local produce, l'Albertros presents classic French bistro fare without being stuffy. For business, for catching up, for celebrating, it is a high quality, better feeling establishment.

First time at L'Albatross for birthday lunch on a Wednesday. Atmosphere was perfect; cozy, rustic and modern all at the same time. Some dishes were better than others, but all food was tasty. Very nice wines by the glass menu. Service was disappointingly unsophisticated overall, with a couple of glaring missteps...a busser asked if he could clear our plates when we had just started eating. Will definitely return, but hope that wait staff will improve.

We were in town for a meeting and found L’Albatros in the neighborhood. What an amazing discovery, especially since it was so well reviewed on Open Table. We arrived on a Monday night and the place was very busy. The noise level was not horrific because there are many different rooms. The food choices are eclectic and numerous. We split an enormous bowl of pate’ as an appetizer, which was absolute creamy goodness. The salads and main courses (I had veal shank) were also large and well-prepared. The wine list was lengthy and had numerous affordable wines as well as high-end offerings. The waiters were attentive and obviously used to the crowded conditions. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. I believe reservations are a necessity.

With this being our first time to L'Albatros, we were excited. Many friends have recommended this particular location and we finally found a time to try it. The food and ambiance were fantastic. The service, however, was surprisingly slow. We sat at our table for 15 minutes before water or any wait staff greeted us. When we finished our meal, it took 20 minutes for anybody to clear our table or get the check for us.

Do we plan to test this again? Yes. I believe this was a one time fluke on behalf of the staff. Still, it was impressively slow while we were there this time.

Unfortunately, this did not live up to the nearly 5 star rating I had seen on reviews. I had high hopes, but didn't feel like the food was as unique, flavorful or matched the high end expectations. I enjoyed the oyster appetizer. Unfortunately, the cod, sea scallops, hanger steak and lamb were not as spectacular as I had expected.

We are always pleased with L'Albatros as a dining option. It's one of our go-to restaurants. Make sure to try the French Toast appetizer. It's amazing.

Arrived and table was too small for our party. They quickly adjusted tables to accommodate us. Food and drinks were excellent, although one drink needed to be repoured. Pleasant and accommodating service.

Easily one of our favorite places.
The service is impeccable, friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
The food is a very good mix of convention and innovation.
The prices are very reasonable.
A great experience!

Love L’albratros over the years. This was by far the worse experience. Service was mediocre and food seemed under seasoned (for things I’ve order multiple times before). Love the space but was underwhelmed this time

As always, everything we ate last night at L'Albatros was delicious. I had with me two visitors -
one from France, and I was vaguely worried about bringing him to a French bistrot. I of course shouldn't have been concerned. He raved about the salad, and praised the pasta. The pork belly in my choucroute garni melted in the mouth. Our cheese selections ranged from acceptable (an interesting chevre) spectacular (delice de Bourgogne, a salty dense blue whose name I failed to catch). If only the bottle of Madiran I selected had been in stock ...

Service from our specific server was a 7/10, but the service we received from everyone else was 10/10! Food was absolutely exceptional! Both my mom and myself ordered the Saturday special (a beef stew) with escargot as an appetizer. Everything was delicious! Our entrees came out hot and they did not rush us when eating the appetizer. Would absolutely recommend and will be back!

Food was good, but they put a table right in front of fireplace. They finally had to turn it off as I was almost sitting IN the fire!!!! Have zero clue WHY management would put a table there. Then, it ruined the fire for the tables that were actually seated in nice distance. Lose that table. ASAP!

The service was the best I have ever received. The manager was very generous, kind, and welcoming. We are frequent diners here and always enjoy the food and drinks.

I travel to NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco and enjoy the finest each has to offer. No restaurant compares to this one.

Whenever we have family in from out of town, this is the number one choice.

One of Cleveland's classic restaurants for a reason. As a Bistro, the menu is extensive, creative, and the dishes are well curated and executed. It's a fun space in a reclaimed older building, so the seating is spread around a series of sections. The only real qualm I have from our recent visit was that the music was a little too frenetic and a bit loud, so it distracted some from easy conversation. Still, very much worth a visit, and for us, repeat visits.

We had 5PM reservations for 7PM Orchestra concert, a 2 minute drive. Service was initially prompt, profession, informative. But after cocktails, salad, appetizers, much time went by ....no dinner, no server, as all tables around us ate and departed. Eventually, a manager (I presume, since no name, title or business card was presented) informed us , that as the kitchen had overcooked the chicken entree, it was being re-made, and all entrees would be presented shortly. He was aware that we had Orchestra tickets.
All of the food was quite good, but we were late to the theatre. We never saw the manager again, and there was no offer of any compensation for the stress and inconvenience that was caused. We regularly dine here, so we were all very disappointed and surprised as to how this was handled.

My nephew really enjoys L'Albatros and this is his favorite restaurant, when he is not in France. While my son and nephew were in France, my nephew highly recommended the restaurant to my son. So I took my son to L'Albatros for his birthday and both of enjoyed immensely. We will definitely return and recommend to friends and family. The food was absolutely outstanding!!! The service was awesome and not only was our server attentive, so too were all staff members. If something needed done (i.e. clearing plates, more water, etc.), someone was always there to do that. The entire experience was fabulous!

We love this restaurant. Each time my husband and I are in Cleveland, we make a point of dining here for dinner. I enjoy the French influence, especially the chicken liver and foie gras terrine, as well as their ability to serve a moist chicken dish with just the correct crispness in the skin. It’s a robust menu with enough selections to whet anyone’s appetite.

Most importantly, the food was spectacular . Our party of 6 went for the special menu Beaujolais Nouveau. The Frisee Salad and Burgundy Beef Shank could not have been better. Our server started the evening graciously and for those of us not doing the wine pairings offered one complimentary glass of red wine with our entree. Then he disappeared. We never saw him again until after we had all finished our entrees when he brought out the wine, saying only that they were short on wine glasses and had to wash ours. It would have been nice if there was some explanation of what was on our cheese plates. A serving assistant simply brought things out with no explanation. Those getting a wine pairing simply got a delayed glass of wine with no explanation of what it was. A manager stopped by to ask how our meal was and we told him what was going on, but it didn’t change anything. We love L’Albatross but come on guys, good service is an important part of the dining experience. Overbooking with too many tables assigned to each waiter does a disservice to both your guests and your staff.

My only critique of my recent experience is that people seemed to have been packed in small room. Perhaps it was due to the cold weather so nobody ate outside. As a result, it was louder and more crammed in.
