Lake Road Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Located in a changing neighbourhood of Hamilton. Interesting art on the walls provided by local artists. The restaurant was quite noisy. It may have been caused by voices bouncing off the tin ceiling and there were a couple of large groups near us. The service was excellent. The food creative and locally produced. The wontons provided prior to the meal are addictive. For the main course I tried the pork jowel which was delicious. My husband had the lamb shank which he really enjoyed. We will definitely return.
Chose Lake Rd to celebrate our friends birthday, was happy to be seated in the front room, it was warm and comfortable, our server was quite enthusiastic and patience as we had to wait for a friend that arrived late. He went thru the features and was able to answer all of our questions. The food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious, would definitely visit this restaurant in the future and would definitely recommend.
This was our second visit as a group. Once again the food was fantastic. I tried the sweet potato and banana tart. I had no idea what to expect. It was a very filling meal garnished with a nice selection of veggies. For dessert we shared all three offerings. Our favourite was the butter tart.
Food was amazing. I had the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection. The only down side is that it's very expensive. I had one glass of wine which was $17 and an app and an entrée and with tip, my bill was $97.00...just for me!! Ambiance was very cozy and comfy and our waitress Tina, was great. I'd definitely go back.
It was a bit loud but there were a few celebrations the night I went. I'm sure on a regular day the crowd noise isn't so high. The service was amazing, the food beautiful to look at and delicious! High end on the prices. $17 for a glass of wine is a bit much but still a great place.
Our server wasn’t overly attentive leaving us without drinks for a while. The new bus boy was great ensuring our water was always filled however we could see that the rest of the staff was frustrated with him. We felt terrible for him. Twice runners brought the wrong food to our table in error. Simple mistake but our entrees took over an hour after our apps had been cleared. The food was just ok. Not a great dining experience.
Great place. Service was awesome. Callamari was a bit over-salted. Sat in the front area. Dressed for AC and the front area had the window open so we got quite warm....but that's no fault of the restaurant. Overall, was quite pleased with the experience. Wait staff was engaging, knowledgable, while being professional and curt.
Would love to come back and try the lamb.
We were seated quickly. Server was great. Explained the menu and drinks. Tried some of her suggestions which turned out great. Meals were excellent and allowed some minor deviations. Dessert and coffee were good but unfortunate that the espresso machine was broken. Will try it again.
An anniversary dinner, and seems we go back each year to Lake Road. Always a great meal, great service too. Although we miss the braised octopus appy and flank steak main! Nevertheless still an excellent meal and evening. Shaun our server is always great too.
The server was a bit off with her timing even though her table load was light. Main was very closely served on the heels of the appetizer when we specifically requested a leisurely pace (the restaurant was quite empty). The server (a different one) confused two of our four drinks, all of our mains and two of three desserts when brought to the table. My husband and I loved our meals - our friends are picky without justification so I'm not sure how they felt about their meals. We will be back but will probably visit Twisted Lemon first :)
Menu items are so creative, well presented and delicious! Special requests were accomodated with a smile.
Everyone ordered something different so we were all able to taste each of the dishes.
Lamb, trout, steak, paste feature....it was all great! Thank you!!!!
My husband and I happened to be in Hamilton and found there was space available at Lake Road on Open Table. The restaurant was recommended by my sister plus we had eaten previously at Twisted Lemon.
My sister was right. What a fantastic meal. The server Kathleen was very helpful with describing the options for the evening. In fact, the staff was attentive and friendly. The food was creative and delicious. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will definitely be back.
A delightful little gem with a limited but very good menu if a bit heavy on steak. The dishes we like best were the chorizo stuffed kalamari served on a sort of ratatouille , the cumin scented lamb shanks and the rainbow trout. The trout was perfectly cooked with crisp skin and just cooked flesh served on creamy lentils with roasted tom thumb tomatoes and sauteed radishes.
Wine selection is well balanced and reasonable. Cocktails are unusual and delightful.
Ambiance is a bit noisy in the front section open to the road and the lack of curtains means the person facing the street was blinded by the sun. The street noise and smells also invade this small area.
We have been to Lake Road a few times now, both with friends and for date night. It is our new favourite dinner place in Hamilton. We enjoy sharing entrees and desserts. The atmosphere is friendly and casual with a touch of class. Everything on the menu is worth trying!
From the time we walked in until we left the whole experience was amazing. People are so nice, helpful, courteous - excellent service.
And the food was outstanding as well. My mom who is a vegetarian and has several dietary restrictions was with us. Unfortunately, she couldn't have the soup on the menu and the restaurant had run out of the Avocado Flan (which I too wanted to try). But the restaurant was king enough to prepare a special pasta for my mom..truly appreciate that kind of service.
Our starter was Quattro Tuffo - you have to try this one!! This comes with five different dips and the Carrot-Harissa puree is out of this world!!!
Hubby ordered the Steak and I ordered the Stuffed Confit Chicken - both of which were perfectly cooked and outstanding...Absolutely loved the chicken-perfectly crisp and tender!!
Our server, Shawn was very helpful, courteous and the girl at the bar (did not get her name) was very good too..
All in all it was worth the drive , despite the rains!!!
And we will definitely go back!!!
