Went tonight for Reataurant Week. Wonderful dinner with wine pairing. Service was good if a bit impersonal. Hoisin glazed salmon was particularly good.
We came for restaurant week and had a fantastic experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines we asked about. The food was presented very nicely and was great.
I enjoyed the FLAVORS of my food. It was served cold and the pork chop was kind of chewy. The timing of the food was a little off. We ate 1/2 our salads when the entree was delivered. I enjoyed the KFC and watermelon salad so I’d come back and try it one more time. The Server was great and apologetic about the mistiming of the food. We ultimately had received a discounted check, which was also nice. All in all, again, I’d go for a second try.
Server very fun and attentive. The wine list includes some affordable bottles. I am one of those few people who is not a watermelon fan. The watermelon salad was over the moon!
This review is specifically for the restaurant week menu of July 2018. Our first experience with Lake and Irving was the fall/winter restaurant week which was outstanding! We have been back several times and it's always good. this season's restaurant week was not my favorite, but the food was good, just not as interesting.
We went for restaurant week because their menu said there was going to be raspberry creme brulee. What we got was an undercooked creme brulee with raspberries on top (it should not be soupy). It was also half the size of the regular menu creme brulee. Those in our party who ordered off the restaurant week menu were extremely disappointed because the meal was over priced, we didnt even get a full size dessert. Yes, it was a tasty pork chop but the broccoli was cold and bland while the potatoe puree wasn't anything special. Others got the fried chicken sandwich and seemed to like it well enough. My parents each got the fried chicken sandwich and split a creme brulee and their bill was the same as my single restaurant week meal. The service was also pretty slow and the seating very uncomfortable. It's unlikely we will return.
Waitress was excellent and was never rushed or ruffled
Menu is excellent, with something with everyone, and deserves its designation as a gastropub. Service was par excellence. Lake and Irving is unique - pub feel, excellent service with a superb blend of Asian/American cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great patio too, very close to Uptown and the Lakes.
Great place with great food and patio. Menu is not big, but everything is really good.
We are members of a group of ex-coworkers who meet monthly for meals. L&I is the only venue where all members show up. We’ll be back later in the month for lunch with another group of friends. Excellent servers!
The wait staff are all very warm and friendly, and the food was delicious (Sunday brunch). We sat outside on the patio on a lovely, summer, Sunday morning.
We were seated in the way back of the restaurant where it was dark and away from the liveliness of the restaurant.
Outdoor dining with dogs allowed. Need I say more, awesome!
If you like good food, great cocktails, and a great ambiance, this is the place for you. The price is very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Bree was our server and she was excellent. I'd recommend this place with no hesitation.
Went for the chilaquiles, was disappointed they were no longer available... ordered the ghosts bowl instead. Asked for the Ghost Pepper aoli on the side, was afraid it might have been too hot. It was a great balance of heat... allowed other favors of the dish come thru without killing my taste buds. Will be back.
Food was very good. Items a little pricey but still a very relaxing enjoyable dinner. We ate on the patio which is dog friendly. Saw three cute puppies. Fun night with a good friend.
Enjoyed a delicious Father’s Day dinner. The special was a Blackened Salmon with coconut shrimp and fingerling potatoes with red pepper coulee. Yum!!
The chicken sandwich is the best thing ever! The ghost bowl was very tasty as well. We love this place.
All our breakfasts were wonderful. We’ve eaten there many and will continue. However, on a day or time when the place was practically empty, the server himself was inattentive. We had a guest and it was disappointing as the kitchen was stellar.
Awesome patio. The waitress remembered serving us a year ago! I had the steak salad which was excellent.
Will be back when we’re in town, everyone enjoyed the meal. Recommended!
Really enjoyed our meals. Salmon with wild rice and Salmon with pasta were equally delicious. The guys had the Hanger steak which was cooked to perfection. Cheesecake was light and delicate could have easily ordered a second one as it was so yummy. Recommend a non dairy dessert on your menu. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem.
We had great food at a reasonable price.
It was a great place for a get-together with old friends. Noise level was moderate. Free parking was a super plus!
It was really cold and drafty, even after we asked to move tables.
Food is always consistently good! The chicken sandwich is a must have. The KFC califlower is amazing!
Our first date was at Lucia’s on June 1st, 1994. We celebrated their for nearly 23 years. With Lucia’s gone we searched Yelp for a suitable Uptown replacement and Lake and Irving did not disappoint. In fact the food was super tasty (I had the Salmon and she had the Tofu Asian Salad), it was quiet enough to talk and overlook Lakestreet, and the prices were reasonable. A special occasion win for us :) Thanks, Lake and Irving!
It was a spontaneous dinner date, but loved that Open Table reservation could be placed within hours of going. Staff was great, got us moved from inside to patio without a hitch. Server, Chelsia, was fabulous. Knew the menu, and the specials, gave great suggestions for wine and cocktail parings with food, and her back-up crew made sure water was always filled, and dirty dishes went away. Really great spot, with great eats with great tastes.
Had their cheeseburger - was right up there with good burger favorites. Fries were good, crispy. My friend had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and said it was GREAT! Super waitress (weekday lunch). Very attentive to making your dining experience a good one! It was! Want to go back again and try other flavorful items on their menus!
Fantastic. Didn't know quite what to expect going in. Kentucky Fried Cauliflower was great and the Luxe Burger was literally one of the best burgers I have ever had.
Highly reccomend this place for a lovely brunch on the patio. The service was great, the grapefruit mimosas were tart and delightful and I really enjoyed the ghost bowl which packs just enough heat!! Great little hidden gem!
I was sad that my favorite smoked fish appetizer was off the menu, but the Brussels sprouts are still the best in town!
The burger has GOT to be one of the best in the Twin Cities! Super overall experience.
Our server Hershel was attentive but not over present. The food was all delicious. Especially the ahi bombs and the KFC! The hanger steak special was a bit chewy but tasty. Love the patio but had to sit inside due to Mother Nature!!
Service, food and atmosphere. It's rare to find the trifecta and Lake and Irving nails it! We will be back!
Fantastic mothers day brunch. Great beer and wine list and wonderful food and service. Check out the deskside seating if you can.
Mother’s Day brunch
We were there for their Mother's Day Brunch. The food was great, especially the waffles. It is close to the Greenway so we rode our bikes there which made for a great day.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch with my husband and two children. There was a price fixe menu with smoked salmon, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, waffles and donuts. The food was very good; much of it was locally sourced and home made (Nutella donuts!). The service was great—our server checked in with us enough, but not too much. We will definitely return to try some things off their regular menu.
