Service, food and atmosphere. It's rare to find the trifecta and Lake and Irving nails it! We will be back!
Fantastic mothers day brunch. Great beer and wine list and wonderful food and service. Check out the deskside seating if you can.
Mother’s Day brunch
We were there for their Mother's Day Brunch. The food was great, especially the waffles. It is close to the Greenway so we rode our bikes there which made for a great day.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch with my husband and two children. There was a price fixe menu with smoked salmon, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, waffles and donuts. The food was very good; much of it was locally sourced and home made (Nutella donuts!). The service was great—our server checked in with us enough, but not too much. We will definitely return to try some things off their regular menu.
Excellent service and great food. We will return. A very pleasant experience.
Consistently excellent and satisfying by every measure.Staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. Food is sourced from reputable suppliers/always tasty and made with care, and the drinks are top notch pleasures. Glad nice weather is back to enjoy the patio/deck.
L & I is a nice place. It is a little loud, which i am sure is OK with the younger Uptown group. It is hard to have a real conversation between 2 people.
The food there was excellent. The food temps were right on the salmon and hamburger. The Mussels are plentiful and big, by Minnesota standards. The service is attentive, but not overly, and OK with an additional request.
I will return but will ask to sit in the far back, away from the noise.
Service at the bar is slow... they just aren’t attentive.
Food was fantastic as always!
I used to love this restaurant, but they got rid of my favorite dish and replaced it with something that had very little taste. Please bring back the Quinoa Salmon Salad. Instead they replaced it with some pasta that was flavorless. We also love the fried chicken sandwich, this time the batter tasted full of salt. We complained about both, the waitress was apologetic, but no one came and talked to us or said anything. The fish we ordered was good, but it also sat on the bland pasta. This was my go-to restaurant and I was very disappointed.
Found this neighborhood hangout on Yelp with a 4.5 rating and had to try it. Bingo. My wife & I enjoyed the menu, food and service.
Lake and Irving does everything well. I've never had anything I didn't like but the chicken sandwich is perfect. Good beer on tap, and the bartenders make great cocktails. The staff is always attentive but not intrusive. The vibe there is comfortable and "real". Parking, reservations available, and patio make it a place that has everything you need.
Matthew our waiter was amazing! Food was also excellent! Not loud ver easy to talk! Great place!
Always very attentive and thoughtful service !
Fresh Vegetables !!
Yummy Menu and dinners.
We love 20 miles away. We have made the trek only four times in the last three years.... but now I want it to become a more semi-permanent favorite ! I grew up in a steak house and they nailed it. Cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional ! Overall .... a gem.
We've visited many times and have had a pleasurable experience every time.
We see the same staff and, to us, that implies a good place where the staff likes to work. They are friendly and helpful with menu questions/suggestions.
It's on our list of 'go-to' places.
Great beverages, food and service!
Totally love the burger! YUM! Service was professional as always.
Always great food. Casual and comfortable atmosphere. Friendly employees. Should be on everyone's list for Uptown dining options
AMAZING every time!!!!! Service, drinks, food! Yum!!!
We love this neighborhood hangout. The food is consistently top rate and the staff is quite responsive to your every need.
Snow day in Minneapolis so very little people out on the road. Great spot in uptown for a drink, brunch and good company with excellent service.
Best burger and buttermilk chicken sandwich ever ! And the margarita is AMAZING !
Cozy spot for a casual dinner with friends on a snowy night. Cauliflower app was wonderful, as were burgers.
Breakfast/Brunch was great!
Herschel was our waiter, he did a great job and was friendly and fun. He made a couple great recommendations and we were all pleased. I should also include that Lake & Irving is priced very reasonably.
L&I doesn't disappoint. While the menu seems small, it had something for everyone, and one of the best burgers I've ever had. Not to mention the Whiskey and Fig, and Gimle cocktails! Delish!
Awesome dinner! Everything was great, especially the Ahi shot appetizer!
Great free parking in the back was a huge bonus.
We really enjoyed our lunch and were please that unlike many brunch spots in the area, it wasn't totally overrun at noon on a Saturday!
The brisket hash was out of this world! And the fact that have parking? In Uptown? 'Nuf said.
Great small plates, fantastic service. Perfect place for creative light fare. We especially enjoyed the Korean Fried Cauliflower and the roasted beets. And the service staff were excellent and friendly.
Lake & Irving has been our favorite restaurant and we continue to find it to be a source of comfort and relaxation. We find ourselves going at least once or twice a week and sometimes more. I would strongly put lake & Irving at the top of your list for an awesome dining experience
Easter Brunch. Excellent! The selections were great, service was great. Had a very nice meal. Would do it again!
Easter this year happened to fall on my Mother's birthday. We don't celebrate easter, however, so it was just us there for her birthday. I checked the website before making the reservation, and it mentioned that there would be a special easter brunch menu, but I didn't see anywhere saying that they weren't going to be serving anything off of their already very small regular menu.
So we were somewhat forced into the easter brunch menu by circumstance. It was expensive. $26 per person. The options seemed good, so we consigned ourselves to it.
I'm just going to get it out of the way that our server seemed irritated/irritable and hasty throughout our service. She wasn't one for chit chat or happiness, but it was a family holiday she couldn't attend herself, so I'm giving her a pass.
My complaints were the food.
- The salmon on toast with creme fraiche etc. was the size of my thumbnail. We got one each.
- The fruit plate was composed of cheap produce fruits. The orange slices weren't even peeled, and we didn't even get a whole section of an orange between us. There was far too much cantaloupe.
- I don't eat scrambled eggs, so those were a waste. We got two slices of bacon, nothing special about it. The hashbrowns were actually excellent. One of the few really good things about this meal.
- The biscuits and gravy were good, but nothing that knocked our socks off. One per person.
- The nutella french toast was a little lackluster, neither of us finished it. The bananas foster waffle was excellent.
All in all, it was excessively heavy on cheap carbohydrates, and almost no protein in the meal. I needed a 3 hour nap afterwards because of the carbo coma.
The only thing that we loved, were the drinks.... which weren't included in the price of this tiny buffet.
I think it was a nice idea, but they were definitely working to churn a heavy profit. I would've been so much happier if we could've just ordered a simple lunch instead.
Absolutely loved the service and the food! We had the Easter brunch and it was the best! Moderate portion siZes and amazing food!
We had Easter brunch and loved it. I liked that the food was served family style and not a buffet - the quality was much better than a buffet would have been. Everything was delicious and the portions were just right. The vibe was casual but classy and our server was cheerful and attentive without being annoying. Loved that we were in Uptown but didn't have the too-cool-for-you hipster feel. Outdoor seating wasn't open yet, but we imagined ourselves enjoying food and drinks on the patio on a warm day. We'll definitely come back for a regular meal!
Wonderful meal. Great neighborhood restaurant. The burger is one of the best in town; the chicken appetizer is really really good; and the salmon entree was delicious. We will be back.
L&I over the past few years has become one of my favorite restaurants! I’ve always had great service and yummy food. Most recently, Herschel, took care of us and he was outstanding! Fun, informative and professional.
Only disappointment was the large ice cube in my handcrafted gin drink. I had this last time and I think the pour was very slim this time. The ice cube was quite large and the liquids barely covered the cube. Four a 10 drink I understand you get a shot of gin but the mix could had been more generous.
We loved it, and should have come here a long time ago. We will definitely be back. Excellent, creative food, ample portions (though another scallop or two would have made for a better review), the opakapaka was superb, and the sauces with both entrees were mouth-watering. Lots of energy in the place (Saturday night), great atmosphere (loved the lighting), creative cocktails, plenty of wines by the glass (average pours at best), and the casual/local neighborhood feel was great. I only wish we could walk here! Excellent service from Dina, and the staff works extremely well as a team. Highly recommended!
