I went there on New Year's eve with my wife. The place was very crowded, probably because of New Year's eve. I selected New Year Eve special, my wife went a la carte. I ordered oysters on shell as appetizer, and lamb shank for entre. My wife ordered Trout fillet stuffed with crab meat. The oysters turned out to be too small. The lamb shank was alright, but Trout stuffed with crab meat was a disappointment. There was a thin veneer of crab meat in the fish. The dessert, chocolate mousse, was very good. Overall, this was not an unpleasant experience. The service was good despite the crowded atmosphere.
We were there for New Year Dinner. My meal was Salmon. Salmon was overcooked and there was sand in the vegetables. I could not eat it. I ordered apple pie with ice cream. It was like bread pudding but my waitress Emily was friendly.
Oh my word, we LOVE La Hinch! We’ve been several times for different special occasions. The Friday night live Irish dance and music is the best. So, so beautiful. The Bog Band was magical this past Friday - they even sang me the birthday song! The proprietors are gracious, patient and have a sense of humor. The wait staff is always wonderful. If you want a quieter lunch or dinner away from the stage, the main seating restaurant area is perfect. And they decorate so beautifully for the holidays! The Shepherds pie (with salad) is fabulous, and they also have wonderful appetizers.
The first course - sausage roll- came out with almost a burnt exterior (how did that manage to leave the kitchen?) but with a cold sausage. And I had to wait and wait to get some mustard as the busboy didn't speak any English. My main course - the liver - arrived with a congealed sauce, and was accompanied by mashed potatoes that actually had some uncooked chunks. The other meals were passable, but nothing particularly noteworthy. My wife has been here several times and said she can't believe how poorly the kitchen performed given her prior experience. I certainly am not in a hurry to return. Good for cocktail or beer but eat somewhere else.
Great music and ambiance. Great bar scene. There is a quiet dining area in back if you prefer talking. Every time we come here there is a good band.
The food was excellent but the service could have been a little better, waiter did not come to check on us and we had to wait a very long time for drink refills. In spite of this, we would not hesitate to go back, we were very pleased with our dinners
The table they sat us on was not great, although the restaurant was almost empty. Personnel was courteous but a bit slow. Food was okay, a bit pricey for the quality.
First time at Lahinch. Fabulous! Staff was excellent especially the owner. Very friendly and down to earth. Went for brunch. Food was superb. Would go ack again gladly.
Perfectly decent Irish pub, solid food, excellent service.
Welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food
We stopped in with my daughter after shopping for a quick bite. She wanted mac and cheese of course (which was very good) and I had her try my Shephard's pie. She ended up eating most of it and loved it. The scones and butter are delicious there too. We did get to try the homemade pancake which was delicious.
This is one of our absolute favorite suburban restaurants. The food is always delicious. Normally the service is fantastic too, but this time we had a new waiter (young kid) who clearly wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. Our food came before we got any drinks (clearly he forgot about everybody's drinks and then tried to blame it on someone else). Then he disappeared when it was time to pay the bill. (And the restaurant wasn't very busy. We will go back of course, but request a different waiter.
First, the restaurant lost our Open Table reservation and relegated us to a busy table next to the kitchen.
We were hoping for a quiet dinner. Instead, I boistrous group was wildly laughing and shouting throughout our dinner.
The only redeeming feature of our dinner was our entre dinners which were very good.
It has been about a year since we last visited this restaurant. It will take about another year for this unfavorable experience to wear off.
Late lunch/early dinner for the family -The salmon, fish and chips, and lamb stew were all hits with family. Unfortunately, the "birthday boy" was under the weather and couldn't make it. Appreciated the kindness of the staff offering soup and birthday cake for a "to go" celebration, we'll definitely be back!
We so enjoyed our evening there—first time for all of us. Only complaint was too long of a wait for our first drinks!!!! Especially our bottle of wine!!! I was about to get up and go to bar. Guys drinks arrived late and the ladies like 10 minutes later.
Otherwise service was good.
My friend had been to Lahinch several times, so I thought it would be a good bet. WRONG!! The restaurant was virtually empty, but we had to ask for a server to come to our table. Our food came quickly, but was disappointing. My fish and chips was soggy, and the accompanying cole slaw looked like it had been sitting out for hours. My friend’s chicken was dry. The restaurant was so poorly lit that she could barely see to cut it.
I doubt i’ll be back.
The food and service at Lahinch never disappoints. The scallop special with fantastic. Our bartender, Dave, was pretty fantastic too. ;)
Second time where we had to wait so long for a server we left. Probably won’t try again.
We all loved the food and the service. We have vonly one complaint, the bread at dinner is always dry and mealy and none of us like it. They have a different bread that is very good at lunch, but they don’t serve it at dinner.
Our first visit. We found an authentic Irish pub, with a great band playing - Sligo Creek. Two rooms, one with the band and another without (in case you want quieter). We'll definitely go again.
We went to their to listen to a live band and 19th street and it was a great time
My wife and I have dined at Lahinch many times and have always enjoyed it. However, this time my wife's chicken was under cooked and tough. This was quite unusual in our experience with this restaurant.
Bland taste and not many vegetarian options. Menu was pricey for the quantity on plate.
I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Lahinch. Several restaurants have tried and failed at this location over recent years, so I had been reluctant to give it a go. My sister and I had dinner there this past Saturday night. Wine prices are decent, and the food is actually quite delicious! It is a great little gem of a place for the neighborhood and great for families. I will definitely be back - most likely with my entire family in-tow.
We came here for my elderly mother's birthday. Overall, I was disappointed. To begin with, the bar was extremely slow in making our drinks. My mother's drink was made completely wrong, even though we made sure to clarify it with the waitress. My drink, a grapefruit martini, was worse than mediocre. I think this is the first martini I've ever disliked. It tasted like a diet juice watered down. The service was fair. Most of the food was very good, though the fish and chips were a bit soggy toward the bottom of the basket they came in.
Went to see a friend’s band, And learned that this Irish pub features live music four nights weekly. The food is definitely two stars above ordinary pub food, and the prices are reasonable.
Arrived for reservation and asked to sit at the bar. Ignored for more than 15 minutes and left.
Solid neighborhood pub - five of us went to Lahinch for first time this past week and had a nice dinner. The service was prompt and the food was good. I would not say it is a bargain for the buck, but given the quality, the price was reasonable. We had a variety of items from the menu and everyone was happy. I know they have at least one live music night and I have heard it is a great time.
Food was good. Wye River Band was terrific.
Love that you have live music- especially Blues. And that there is room for dancing . Suggestion: the floor where the band plays is VERY STICKY..... makes it tough for dancers.
Service & food very good, waitstaff very entertaining & attentive. I check the music calendar to decide when we are coming. Been to La Hinch several times👍
Great service! Friendly staff makes this please a definite go-to. The band "Late As Usual" was outstanding and the main reason we went. So much fun.
Authentic Irish cuisine along with American favorites. Live music, though loud in the bar area, is much better than canned music. I recommend the fish dishes, all prepared with care especially the trout dinner.
The mimosas were great, so were the scones. Service was good. But fried calamari, roast lamb and fish and chips were subpar. Would not recomendó
At with our family. Beer was very good as were the wine choices. The food was good...fish and chips, crab cake sandwiches, cauliflower dish.
I've been to this restaurant twice: once for dinner on a Friday night and once for lunch mid-week. It was a busy bar scene on Friday night, very quiet for lunch. Both times the food was adequate but mediocre. I would not recommend it beyond a place for drinks and munchies for happy hour.
I had been impressed with the food on earlier occasions; this time was a bit of a let-down.
Great place, great food, and great live music. Happy specials were also very good
We brought our granddaughter to the Friday live music and Irish dancing show. The food, entertainment, atmosphere all were great. And the service is wonderful...very friendly, accommodating, and sweet to our granddaughter.
Rushed service. Poor food quality. Wait unfamiliar with the menu.
Menu has a nice variety of cuisines and the kitchen generally executes well. The atmosphere is a casual bar-like setting (the dining room is separate and less noisy), though the food is restaurant quality. A surprising combination that worked nicely.
