Love the squid ink pasta and mussels! Caprese salad too. Friends came for first time and loved food especially minestrone soup
Love the Seafoods pasta special, shrimp is not miss by me, other shellfish are perfect. meat dishes are great as well
Super friendly staff that was very gracious trying accommodate my 2 year old son's picky eating. Very traditional Italian. Highly recommended.
I'm always happy to dine here for the food and the ambience.
Lago di Como is our favorite Italian restaurant in the Bay Area. This time I ordered a pizza Margherita and it was outstanding...just like in the Old Country.
I also enjoyed a glass of Cannonau di Sardenga (grenache) which was also wonderful.
Yar, I went there on, like, New Year's Eve, so I guess that's not really typical of the restaurant, right? It was kinda busy and kinda loud. The lights were a little bit high, and the ceiling is pretty high as well - so I wouldn't go there on a first date, or when intense romance is required. But the waiter was funny, and the food was nice, and we got a booking at a couple of hours notice, which was pretty cool for NYE.
Great dinner for New Years Eve. The burata, tomato and prosciutto appetizer is delicious. Great entree and many very good things to pick on the menu. We will definitely be back. Great neighborhood gem. Worth the drive as well.
Everything was wonderful thank you so much a great place to eat!!!
The proprietor/chef Giovanni welcomed us personally and helped us select his special scaloppini of pork. He also suggested we split the lovely tender calamari appetizer, which
is far more delicious than other restaurants fried calamari. The restaurant is smart to offer
Prosecco by the glass and also by the bottle.
We come for special occasions , but the menu includes pizzas for a more casual meal. The restaurant has a friendly vibe and warm ambiance that welcomes families and larger groups as well as couples. A winner!
One of the best dining experiences we've had here in Santa Cruz. It all began ei a table, ready, at our reservation time. Immediate seating. Prompt attention to our desires for beverage and appetizer. Served by expediters with accuracy and politeness. THe owner (I guess) stopped by for a brief chat a couple of times. The food - kids meals to the specials - wonderful! Not rushed to turn the table. THe whole evening was remarkable.
Christmas Eve dinner, service was good but way too fast, we were in and out in 45 minutes. My daughter enjoyed the ravioli but the other 4 of us thought the pasta sauce was very bland. My husband and I shared a salad and they just left us one bowl, no extra plate to share. They also overcharged us for corkage fees compared to what they quoted over the phone. We would not choose to eat here again, sorry.
One of the best restaurants in Santa Cruz. Service is impeccable and the food is delish. Would definitely go back again.
Giovanni is always so great to our family. The food is consistently yummy and we enjoy going back every time.
I took my Mom to dinner and ordered additional food to take out. The server was very accommodating and the food was excellent. I had the swordfish with polenta and Tuscan salad. It was the perfect sized meal and well priced as well.
My second time and I'm excited for more. Love the Rissoto
evrything in this place is delicious, as appetizer we had the burrata cheese with tomatoes and prosciutto and it was great. I had spaghetti pescatore and was delicious. This place is highly recommended
Dinner was delicious, the service was awesome and the ambience was lovely
I loved this restaurant! I was in town for business and wanted to slip away to someplace not-too-fussy and delicious. Lago-Di-Como was perfect. I was treated like family to the wait staff. The food was delicious, fresh, and reminded me of my travels in Italy. For such a casual, fine dining experience, I was struck by the attentiveness of the staff. I had 4 waiters! One for bread, one for plate removal, one for the meal and my dedicated server. I love this. I could tell every one works together to allow you to have the perfect experience. When next in Santa Cruz... I'll see you again.
We love this restaurant. Their service is of the best quality.
Authentic Italian and the best calamari in town! ❤️
We enjoyed our dinner at Lago they Como. We ordered the seafood spaghetti dish. We thought it was delicious with a very rich sauce. We thought, however, that it was lacking as far as the seafood. It would've been very nice to have some small pieces of fish mixed in.
The bread was delicious as always and the Tiramasu was light and flavorful.
Lago Di Como was a delightful surprise. The food is excellent (I actually found myself quietly moaning after forking up a mouthful of Spaghetti del Pescatore. It is an exceptional neighborhood treasure. We plan to return SOON!
We came here based on the Yelp rating. It was my wife's birthday and she loves Italian food.
Our reservation was booked through Open Table and when we arrived we were greeted warmly and seated.
Our server was friendly, and explained the specials clearly. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and when it was served, she let us know it was their last bottle, so if we wanted more we needed to think of a different one.
We started by ordering the Polenta Uncia as an appetizer. When it was served, it was their Buratto cheese special, not the Polenta. We decided that was fine, maybe when I said polenta she heard buratto. It was delicious.
Next we had Caesar salad, which was okay, not outstanding.
We then split a risotto dish, which our server said was not allowed but she would bring us two plates. The rice was under cooked.
For our main dish we each ordered the Veal Scallopini and a bottle of Petit Sarah. The veal was tough. The side of potatoes had been nuked and I had to cut them with a knife they were so hard.
When we had finished our meal, the staff came over with a taramisu with a candle and sang Happy Birthday. Which was nice, the dessert was very good.
Overall our experience was mediocre. The setting was nice, except that the bar area is open to the main seating and the TV is a distraction. We could not recommend this as a good Italian restaurant to our friends, which is too bad as the staff are very nice and helpful.
This was a really delightful surprise. We've been coming to Santa Cruz for 33 years and never knew about this place. We had a large pre-Thanksgiving group and they were quite accommodating and the food was wonderful.
Good food just make sure you make reservations We had them but still waited 45 minutes Food was great when we finally got to table
Legit Italian food, generous portions, good service. Kitchen continues to have minor difficulties getting the entrees to arrive at the same time, not a big issue usually.
Had a great time and the food and service was excellent!!
It was a very good meal!
Outstanding food prepared in the Northern Italian manner. Wonderful choices with all seafood cooked perfectly. They adjust for special requests (for kid dining) and the wine choices are great. We had a seafood stew (kind of like a cioppino), a risotto with white fish, a special of swordfish, and octopus salad, as well as fried calamari for the young one. Wine: a lovely, full valpolicello ripaso.
Service is excellent and accommodating.
The only negative is the noise level. It overwhelmed our youngster and prevented our diner with a hearing issue from hearing any conversation. All subtle conversation is lost in the hard-edged reverberating sound in this place. We tried to come early to avoid it, but the place jumps and when we left at 7pm, all the tables were filled. I wish that more restaurants would go for a quieter ambiance and save their patrons' hearing.
We love this restaurant. The food is excellent. The staff are friendly. The menu has something for everyone.
Wonderful food and service! Good portions and bursting with flavor. Pizza is also incredibly delicious! The staff is so courteous and attentive, including the two gracious owners. Don't miss out on some real Italian cuisine! And don't leave without desert!
we went for our anniversary at the recommendation of friends who live near the restaurant and were sorely disappointed. the waitress did not speak english well, so could barely communicate the items on the menu or what were good choices. the carpaccio was scant and buried under spinach the hid the less than generous portion. the chicken with polenta was very overcooked, dry, lacking in the rosemary spice that was promised on the menu and the polenta was mushy and tasteless.
tiramisu desert was ok but ice cream was delicious, although she couldn't tell us where it came from!
we did however, run into friends there, which eased the pain.
Great food, wine and deserts. Service was fantastic.
Good food and our friends who had never been loved it!
This was a nice dinner with another couple and we had a great time. It was very leisurely and we were not pushed at all to leave the restaurant.
Our server was wonderful, so friendly and helpful.
We thought the food was delicious and the tiramisu was excellent.
We will be back again soon as it was a great experience.
Solid and getting better!! This was my 3d or 4th time at Lago di Como and each experience has gotten better. A basket of kitchen-made chopped foccia was heaping and refilled, the waiters were great and I don't care for al dente pasta so asked for my baked Mama Gianna a bit more done and it arrived hot, crispy and wonderful. Decent wine list and fair prices for everything. I want to mention the Burrata which was huge, rich and The Best I've had here in Santa Cruz. On the downside was the swordfish, not as fresh as it could have been and again their penchant for waa-ay undercooking pasta (the smoked salmon ravioli were chewy/dry). Overall, I would return in a heartbeat...and will!!
It was a pleasant experience, Staff were extremely friendly but the food was no better than a host of other Italian restaurants
Good value for the money, Italian cuisine plus fresh local fish
