As first time customers we were pleasantly surprised by Lagniappe. Other than a name that’s hard to spell, remember and pronounce, this new AI restaurant is a winner. The interior is beautiful, fresh and contemporary while still delivering on southern charm.
We were seated in a booth which overlooked a good deal of the restaurant. A variety of small groups of diverse ages all having fun, gave the restaurant an upbeat vibe.
We shared a fried calamari appetizer which was outstanding. The crispy Brussels sprouts, which we ordered to go with our entrees, yet arrived as an app, were cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. The Grouper seafood special was served with unique sauces and cooked to perfection, elevating this dish to one of the best we’ve had on the island. The crab salad was beautifully presented with an assortment of fresh vegetables. The crab was more shredded than lump, and it’s impossible to find a good tomato this time of year, yet the flavors were fresh and portion more than adequate. Can’t wait to try this again when tomatoes are in season.
Alas, no room for dessert. It was clear that our server was stretched a little thin, yet she was always there when we needed her and we never felt unattended.
It was a long time coming, but this restaurant is a keeper. A great addition to the dining scene on the south end of the island.
Outstanding service, outstanding presentation, outstanding food
There were three of us. Grouper special was outstanding. The other two, scallops and NY strip were average. The main problem we had was an extremely noisy table next to us. Left early due to that.
My husband’s food arrived very cold and had to be sent back to be heated.
This was our 4th visit to Lagniappe. Every experience has been good. Three in our party had the steak frites which was excellent. All cooked perfectly according to our requests. My wife had the featured fish special. It was overcooked and dry. Our server was fantastic. The restaurant has a nice wine selection and our server was very helpful in directing us to the proper match for our dishes and our tastes. Although, three of us had steak we each had a different red wine. Nice bar too! We look forward to our next visit.
Exceptional food and a great couple of owners. My congratulations to their well earned success!
The steak and pork were outstanding. My mashed potatoes were dry and too thick. Asparagus was perfect.
Will definitely go again.
Enjoyed dinner on all levels!
Great place to eat- food was delicious- just not sure how experienced our waiter was on items
Terrific food. We ordered Shrimp and Grits, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, L Chicken. Lovely interior but SO LOUD. We previously ate at the bar, and in the future, we will only eat at the bar. We are not fans of shouting during dinner. Also, our server seemed less than enthusiastic about serving us.
We have been to Lagniappe a few times now and it never fails to impress! My wife enjoyed the crab cakes and I had the steak frites. What else can I say the food was perfectly prepared and the service was outstanding.
This was my 3rd visit to Lagniappe and it has been consistently excellent every time. The food is spectacular, though they might consider having more "lite" choices as all the offerings are heavy and decadent. We called it "creative comfort food." The service and atmosphere are great. My only caveat is the noise level, which is too high to make it an intimate dining experience. I wish they would get more booths and/or invest in some wall or floor coverings that would result in better acoustics.
Really need more than 5 star option for Lagniappe. Excellent Amelia Island option, try never to miss. Owners/Chef A+ and good folks.
We don’t need a reason to have dinner here. Always leave happy we have found our place on the island
It is always wonderful...title pricy at dinner but still a great place to go!
The food is phenomenal! I recommend the calamari and poutine as appetizers and we got the grouper special as an entree. The ambiance was fun and lively without being too loud so you could still have an intimate date night if you wanted to. Service was incredible they gave great suggestions, they also only checked in a few times so they let us enjoy our meal without interrupting our conversations. Highly suggest this restaurant!
Beautiful place. Ate here on Valentine’s Day, so we expected a busy/ loud restaurant.
I had a cocktail called “found my thrill”. It was missing the mint garnish and It tasted bland.
I had the Filet Mignon and my husband had the cat fish. Both plates offered large portions with tasty side dishes. Both the filet and the Cat fish lacked flavor. Tasted as if my filet was simply seasoned and not marinated. My husbands cat fish lacked flavor as well. Prices were good. We will return, but will try different dishes.
Very good food. I took to long between the entrees and the main course. I order my steak medium rare and it came out “well done”
For desserts the waitress said there were no “creme brûlée” so we settled for something else. Surprise! She brought us creme brulee.
Lagniappe does not disappoint! Even on Valentine's Day with a full restaurant, the food and the service were excellent. We keep coming back!
Valentine’s Day. Large party next to us so it was pretty noisy.
It was busy for Valentine's day but luckily we had a reservation. We were nicely surprised when the hostess brought us a gift card that friends had purchased for us! We shared a crab cake for an appetizer and it was one of the best we've had. Solid blue crab meat with a tangy remoulade sauce. I was looking forward to having shrimp and grits and I was not disappointed. My husband had the pork shank. A Red Duroc pork shank on a bed of sweet potato along side pickled collard greens and black eyed peas. The staff, including the hostess, and chef/owner stopped by a couple of times to ask if we were enjoying our food. Very attentive knowledgable server. We will definitely visit again.
Outstanding food, service, and attention to every detail. A must stop when in Amelia Island. Absolutely delicious!
It is a beautiful restaurant! We sat in back room near bar. Food was exceptional, as was service!
Always good food and a great atmosphere!
Delicious mussels, shrimp and grits, crab cake. Great salad. Loved being in a booth with high sides. Two happy couples.
Great as usual .Open Table would not give me points even that I am Open Table member
Food was amazing and service was good. Asked for a modification and was told they couldn’t do it. Just wanted the calamari pan fried with no breading. Other restaurants have done this. People working there are not the friendliest but our server was fine.
They literally brought each lunch entree one by one with 3-5 minutes in between? My guest asked if there was bread with her salad & the server told her “you can only have bread service with dinner.” We have eaten here before both brunch and dinner and have had better service before.
The lunch menu isn’t the best & the food was just ok. Wish they offered a couple of dishes that were a bit lighter/healthier and still interesting.
Brunch here is great.
Finally made it to this restaurant! Great bar and atmosphere, and great food, too. We'll be back!
They never disappoint! Ambience, food and service were perfect. And, of course, Crystal as our server and resident comedian just added to the fun.
The scallops were delicious large size and wonderfully prepared. Lagniappe’s Crab cakes are full of crab not a lot of filler. The noise level can be fairly loud when the restaurant is busy. Our server Betsy went out her way to answer questions about the menu and was very attentive even though it was a Sat. night and very busy.
Excellent cuisine friendly helpful service and good wine at fair price
As usual all excellent!
This is a nice spot for any occasion.
Great meal again. Took a few minutes to get our drinks at 5:30. Not sure why but overall this is still our favorite place.
Service was not good. Took a hour+ to get food, no bread, never could get waitress to refill waters. Food was delicious but they charged for every refill of unsweetened tea. Not very welcoming when we came in ... had a reservation but kept trying to put us outdoors and we wanted inside. Also had a severe allergy to red meat waitress told us we could get several items that had we had to question and did have red meat in the sauce or cooking process. This could have been very bad.
The red fish special was outstanding
second time eating there and felt it was too noisy and the food only average. nice liquor selection. the best way I can put it is they are trying too hard. breading on catfish was overdone.
Met on a Friday night with another couple.. sat a very comfortable, roomy booth, food was great as usual, pork shank , grouper special and scallop special all outstanding, several reasonably priced wines by the glass. Skipped dessert. Great ambiance and beautiful bar.. service by Natalie was spot on, one of our favorite restaurants on Amelia Island..
