Lafayette's Music Room Memphis
The original Lafayette’s Music Room was short-lived but still vividly remembered. During the 1970s, it was a small but influential venue rooted in the most happening corridor of Memphis. A key stop on the showcase circuit for up-and-coming touring artists, Lafayette’s played a significant role in launching the careers of such music superstars as Billy Joel, Big Star, KISS, Barry Manilow, J.J. Cale and Leon Russell, to name a few.
Today’s Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar evokes that storied past. It boasts live bands seven nights a week, from local and touring acts playing rock ‘n roll to jazz to blues and everything in between.

Great way to spend a Sunday morning. Joe and Art are great musicians. Service and food were good!
This is our second trip to Lafayette's Music Room....it was love at first experience! The acoustics are phenomenal.....as is the food & staff (shout out to Charity). The Amber McCain Band was friggin awesome! The first trip we fell in love with Pulse. Our hometown of Oxford has a really great music scene but it's so worth the drive ❤😎🍷
I made a reservation and got a great table. The food was ok. The wine $10 a glass. The entertainment was outstanding!! I would definitely go back.
I will order the hush puppies again.
Great food! Our server (Alec, a very efficient woman) hope I spelled her name correctly, was exceptional.
The entertainment made it that much better. Highly recommend this establishment.
Always, always, always an outstanding experience at Lafayette’s. With Jeffrey and the Pacemakers!
Had a great time, first time being there and enjoyed every minute of it.
Great service. Great band. Great food. Really enjoyed our meal. Was able to sit outside and the noise was not bad, we were able to talk and enjoy the band!
We were sad to miss out on the music - which stopped at 7pm on Sunday. The food was EXCELLENT. The service was poor, but the food made up for what the service lacked. Everything we ate was awesome: lettuce wraps, southwest chicken salad and gumbo!
It was fun!!! I love the bands!!! I will definitely go again.
Food was good and fresh. Service was attentive. We didn’t know there would be a cover charge, after a certain time on weekends (& holidays), I guess that is part of the deal.
This was our first experience and it was good. We would eat there more often if there was not a coverage charge after 5:00 pm.
We visited early for a show in the evening and ended spending 8 hours in the venue between lunch, drinks and the concert. The staff was amazing and food was phenomenal. Will certainly come back to Memphis just to revisit Lafayette's!
Food and service mediocre, we made reservations and upon arriving at restaurant were told there was a $5 cover charge per person . Better food and entertainment can be found elsewhere in the city
There is a great selection of music genres at this location. The first band was a bit too loud and they kept playing "one more number" though no one was actually encouraging them to do so. The food is pretty tasty and $$$ pricey. A grief I do have is that is they are going to have a third party book their reservations, all the information should be provided, such as Cover Charge amount if there is one and the Music act scheduled for the date chosen. I met with two other friends for a Birthday Dinner and wasn't able to forewarn them of the Cover Charge. The amount was only $5.00 but if it had been a large group, they may have been put off with the lack of information up front.
Thank you, Sandra Spragins
Food and music were great. Service was only ok. The band was wonderful and food was tasty. Our server was stretched thin, apparently, and it wasn’t that crowded. Then at some point, the bartender decided that they no longer wanted to give out real glasses for drinks (???) and swapped to disposable, even for wine.
Awesome Father’s Day brunch! Food, service, and music was on point! Can’t wait to go back!
It was my second time attending in 2 weeks time. We took our mom there for her 80th brthday..it was 19 of us and nobody complained. It was an Awesome experience. We took my son there, who was here from Nashville, for Father's day...Please go.
Great food, great service, great music. Real treat to be able to still hear a big band playing swing music.
Good music, atmosphere and food. Cant go wrong. I would definitely recommend for a date night.
I had asked for a table close to the band downstairs. They initially put us upstairs, but then allowed us to go downstairs. They told me that nothing was on their notes about my reservation. We got to a table downstairs but they asked us to move us to another table. Then we were asked to move from that table. I finally told them I would not move anymore. It was very unsettling.
Our waitress was very nice and attentive and we enjoyed the food and drinks. They just need to get their reservations straight as I had made them about a 3 weeks in advance. The band, Jeffrey and the Pacemakers were awesome as usual!
Ambiance very nice. Food was good. Shrimp and grits was just ok, shrimp did not taste “wild caught”. Service was good.
It was excellent. Can’t remember our server’s name but she was great! The food was fabulous. I love Lafayette’s and always look forward to going there.
After this last visit I would have a hard time recommending Lafayette's. The food was good, for the most part. The kitchen forgot to make one of the sandwiches for the table and therefore a hot sandwich was barely warm by the time it go to the table. The server was nice enough, however, was hard to find for refills or to ask where the food was and even to place our order when we were ready. When we arrived there were only 4 other tables with people, most of whom were already eating. Towards the end of our visit a large party came in. Had the server been more attentive we would have had a better experience. Had the kitchen made the entire order (only 3 people) we would have been able to eat and pay prior to the large party entering.
Great music, great service, people were amazing! We had a great time!
$3 cover for Brian "Breeze" Cayolle playing at 530 pm, gumbo OK but appeared to be tomato based so not what expected, service friendly & efficient
We had a great time, everyone loved their food, however wished we would have made earlier reservations. Music on Sunday night is at 4pm and somehow I missed that note on the website.
The food was ok. Music was ok. Worst of all was the chairs were so uncomfortable it was not a pleasant experience. Would not go back again
We had a nice server, but the young woman at the host stand was in accommodating and we went from sitting in the walkway in front of the door to a table next to the restroom which you wouldn’t expect for a party with a reservation. The food was good, but took over an hour to come out and the shrimp and grits might as well had been soup.
We waited over an hour after plcing our order for food, other than that everything was wonderful. I like having a table for brunch up near the bar, thats not too load, and they had a photographer for mothers day which rocked. I eat here every time I come to memphis, my only issue was a took way longewr than it should have to get lunch.
Service was poor and the food was late and cold.
Lafayette's hosted a Mother's Day Brunch. The restaurant was decorated for Mother's Day with pink table clothes and flower arrangements on each table. There was a photographer taking pictures under a ballooned arch, and the music was soft jazz. Overall the experience was fabulous.
Everything looked great for Mothers Day and our table was decorated for the occasion. Service was good and the band playing was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed our meal and there was even a photographer taking pictures for the occasion. It was an overall great experience.
Not a good experience. We first had to wait a very long time before we were acknowledged. Despite having a reservation, our table was not met until I tapped a server for help. The server that attended to us ended up being very nice but unfortunately, this didn’t make the experience any better. Our drinks were late and our food came SO late we had to practically beg the waiter to bring my brother and my moms food out because my brother had a flight to catch and we had already waited an hour and a half for our food. My boyfriend’s pizza came waaaay too early and it was cold by the time our food finally came out. All in all, this was a bad experience. I think there is a lot that goes into promoting the amenities of this restaurant but when you get there, the experience isn’t what you see online. Moreso, the food was subpar. Too bad this was for my brother’s graduation celebration.
Our Party of 20, had a wonderful time, listening to our Favorite Band, Memphis Funk N Horns. The food is always great, the crowd was fun, the Staff, attentive. Overall, a Fabulous evening of food, drinks, music & dancing.Thank you for being such a Fun Place to gather, with friends.
Great evening cellebrating our 60th with daughter. Food and music amazing.
I would recommend this restaurant for a casual evening out.. It was more casual than I expected.
Lots to choose from on the menu and the food was very good. Fun and lively atmosphere!
The music was good... the hush puppies were amazing and we had great service from start to finish!
The third Tuesday in the month with the open mic for guest musicians is quite an experience that should not be missed!!
