What Insiders Are Saying
Lady’s is big, modern Italian restaurant a few blocks north of the Barclays Center, and it’s great for a last-minute dinner.
They are closed !!!
It was closed!!!!
This was not the original restaurant that I’d visited on a few different occasions in the past years. Seems to be under new management. Was somewhat disappointed with the wine list, menu and the actual quality of the food. Service was very friendly.
Had drinks with my girls as this place was referred to me by a few folks. We tend to get together every few months or so when time permits. We look for a place with sweet and mature ambience, excellent drinks (artisanal preferred), array of eats and always looking for outstanding service. Our waitress was excellent and it was her first day. We donned her name as “Ohio” as that is where she is from. Ohio was frogging awesome! Additionally the drinks, food and music were just what we needed. As women of a certain age, maturity, grown and sexy is what we seek. Lady’s is all that!
Waitress did not know either the drinks or dinner menu and made no effort to provide answers that simple questions such as “Do you have iced tea?”. We then orrdered 2 sodas and 2 salads with shrimp. The sodas were flat. We were overcharged for the salads a price different then the menu and upon bringing it to the waitress’s attention she responded “It’s not me fault”. Getting the bill corrected took 20 minutes.
This appears that be a cool looking place but the service was terrible, food was average. Given the many other dining options in this neighborhood we will not be returning.
Pretty place and nice servers but the young vibe, which is nice to watch, can get in the way of easy conversation. And the kitchen repeatedly sent out the wrong orders. They were good though!
The restaurant was CLOSED - yet I received two text messages confirming my reservation.
I called the restaurant and whoever answered the phone did not even apologize.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - I will not try again.
We were looking for a simple meal not far from the Barclay's Center. The food was pretty good, but we didn't venture into the unknown at all. A pizza and a salad for two. The service was horrible. Our waiter was inattentive. When he did finally pay some attention to us, he was incredibly slow. My husband ordered a second drink (neat, on the rocks). It took 15 minutes to get that drink. I could see the bar from our table. It was not busy. Then, to pay the bill, it took another ten minutes.
In defense of the staff at Lady's, however, all the other servers and personnel seemed to be on the ball. One server heard us talking about the check and came over to try to help. Our waiter already had the check, so it was a moot point, but she did try. The gentleman who sat us initially, also was tiptop. Nice man.
We'd been to Lady's before, almost a year ago around the time it opened. The menu had changed and the excellent pasta enjoyed the first time around was no longer prominent on the menu and the cocktails had changed to a selection that skewed more on the sweet side. The pizzas we're alright, we just weren't in the mood for pizza.
I think it was a special occasion, but the music was very loud as well. There was a DJ and while the choice of music was great, it was simply too loud. Or at least too loud for an 8pm-ish dinner. I could see the music getting louder as the night went on and the dinner rush was calming down, but walking into a dinner at 8pm and being able to feel the bass in my chest and barely hear the people at the table with me was a little disappointing.
The restaurant itself is still very nice inside and the lighting was a little brighter than when we originally came, which was fine (we could actually see our food better).
Service was great, waiters were attentive and on top of everything.
All in all, we went expecting to have a casual, intimate dinner with good pasta options but instead were eating in a much louder space with a pizza centric menu. Not necessarily bad, just unexpected.
We would certainly go back, just with much different expectations in mind.
A little more casual than we expected based on the website. Got sat at a table with a vent over it that was blowing napkins away when you picked up the silverware that was on top of them, so we asked to be moved and got moved to a table with another vent under us. Staff was really nice and the happy hour drinks were great. We ordered the calamari and it was decent, but 80% tentacles and a little over done. We planned to have dinner but given the food experience and the mini tornado that was chilling my wife, we left after the app and a drink. Overall disappointing but would give it a second shot, especially for happy hour and would love to try their pizzas which looked great from what I saw come out to other patrons.
Excellent vibe and so much fun! Excellent service from our waiter. Drinks are great. Love this place
Great food and kinda bad service. The waitstaff was very nice, maybe they were just distracted. Pizzas were good, burger was good, steak was good, fried chicken is good. The mac and cheese was a good appetizer. Not a huge fan of the chicken wings though.
A warm, casual restaurant with great food and cool ambience. Great music selection. A wonderful neighborhood spot for lunch, dinner or late night .
Services was extremely slow. Took forever to get greeted or have the server come back and check on us. Numerous times I had to ask someone else who worked there to get my server and provide us with basics, such as napkins and utensils. It took over 2 hours for just a casual dinner. We ended up being late for the event after dinner. The food was fine, but it appears that they relaunched the restaurant, and it is not the Italian pasta place that I initially read about.
Restaurant had a great ambiance. However we made reservations, the restaurant was empty and the staff seemed super unorganized. They did not have the steak we wanted so they charged us $10 more for a NY Strip. Food took a long time to come out considering we were the only people there dining besides a few people at the bar. Overall, good atmosphere but the restaurant has a lot to learn.
Sound system (with blasting bass) much too loud to hear conversation. Service was slow and disorganized. Staff seemed poorly trained and not well versed with menu. Pizza crust on one of the pizzas we ordered was badly burned. Had to put an order in twice and then ended up cancelling remaining order when server needed us to repeat our order for a third time. Would not return & would not recommend.
Came here for my mother 60th Birthday, the service and food was amazing
Very nice restaurant! Lots of space, great drinks. My only hesitation is Service wasn’t the best.
Came on a random Sunday night with friends. Place was empty so both the bartender and server were super attentive. I don't know why it was empty other than it being a sunday night because the place is pretty cool. It's very open and spacious which is a find for some parts of Brooklyn. I really like the old-school hip hop they were playing, but others might find it too much. Pizza was solid. Their chocolate cake thing for dessert was very good as well. Good happy hour that extends into later hours. Overall can't complain. Maybe will be different on a busy night.
It was way too loud and the wait staff was very unattentive. The pizza was also soggy and greasy.
Service was horrible. half our party got their food and it was another 20 minutes before we were all served. They add 20% gratuity to the bill so maybe no incentive to provide decent service. The pizza was very average
a very comfortable bar and restaurant. perfectly located to bam.
Very limited menu, inattentive service, seems to be trying to figure out if it's a restaurant or a lounge.
We had a lot of fun. Disappointed they only had hot wings , mac was ok. Loved the music, ambiance, good crowd of people. Definitely going back. I'll try pizza next time. Lol
This is a really lovely space. That's about all I can say that's positive, based on this - my second visit to this restaurant. The first visit (a few months ago) was much more enjoyable - the menu was pasta-driven and the ambiance was low-key and Brooklyn-ish. We came back expecting a similar experience, although we knew they had been closed for a while, so there might have been some changes. Indeed there were. (unfortunately)
The menu is totally different - not as interesting and not as varied. We arrived at 10:00PM on a Saturday night, after a theater performance. The greeting was pleasant enough, but we sat for fifteen minutes before anyone approached us at all. We knew we needed to order drinks and food together and quickly because the noise/music level was so overpowering, we felt we had to get out quickly. Had it been earlier, we would have left and gone somewhere else, but since it was late, we stuck it out. One cocktail, which was supposed to be a combination of several components was 99% gin. The food was decent enough -kind of reminiscent of the kind of food one gets at a slightly passable airport restaurant. One server made the effort to let us know our food was coming soon (it wasn't) because it was obviously quite slow. Otherwise, the service was adequate but aloof.
The music was unbearably loud. It was as if we had walked into a bar - not a restaurant.
The menu was changed
Before Lady's closed for the summer, they were our go-to spot. We loved this place! So we were so excited when they re-opened, we wanted to go right away. We got there, and the menu was really different. Specifically, there was no more pasta, which was honestly the best part of the old Lady's! No one else in the area was really doing such delicious homemade pasta, and we'd constantly recommend Lady's to our friends based on that alone. Looks like now, they're focused on pizza instead. Okay, we'll try it. We loved their pasta, so why wouldn't we love their pizza?
It was just okay. Interesting combinations for sure, but nothing really blew me away. Dessert was okay too, just not all that memorable. Too bad because their desserts used to be really great too.
I understand that places have menu changes, but I'm so surprised that they did away with the best part of the menu. Truthfully, I don't think we'll be back. There are plenty of other places in Brooklyn doing awesome pizza, and this just was a bit disappointing.
We went in for the pasta only to find out they revamped the menu and are primarily serving pizza's; my word was I glad we stayed, the sausage pizza was top of the list in all time pizza! It was a perfect balance between cheese/toppings to dough. Not to mention their happy hour goes until 8pm, you don't find that many places! Great hosts, service, bartenders, food, and price! Have already started spreading the word!
