   A very solid BYO restaurant in Center City. Friendly and attentive service. Takes credit cards, unlike many BYO's in the city. Started with the soup du jour, which was a very flavorful vegetable. Seafood Linguine in white sauce was an excellent main. Definitely a reliable and tasty Italian spot.

   Exceptional Italian dishes as you would find in Italy with every flavor of homemade, with attention and affection. If I lived closer to Philadelphia, I would be here many nights.

   Extremely loud dining room with tables very close together. Food was good, although portions were small. Service was attentive but fairly aggressive — the staff tried to remove our bread basket three times during the course of the meal, even though it was not empty. I had to keep telling them to leave it because we weren’t finished with it. Overall, it was fine but not special enough for a return visit.

    Have been dining here for years. The food is amazing and moderately priced. Great service. Friendly wait staff. Was here last Saturday and my husband ordered the salmon. It was out of this world! Unlike most restaurants where the salmon is usually wafer thin and the size of a quarter, this salmon was the thickness of a T-bone steak and a generous portion. I had the signature orecchiette dish that was cosmic! With so many fine, established restaurants in Philadelphia closing or closed, e.g., Branzino, Alma de Cuba, etc., it is comforting to know that this tried-and-true winner is still thriving after 22 years!~

    Another delightful meal at La Viola. Before the Philadelphia Orchestra Thursday evening concert. We both had pasta, and the plates were superb. Just a fine time at a very good dinner, served with care, with the best expresso ever after the meal.. A consistently delightful place to eat, and inexpensive too, with the byob policy.

    Always a great meal at La Viola West! This time we shared the mussels in red sauce recommended by our waiter & it did not disappoint. Bread is always warm, fresh & delicious. I hade the spaghetti Adriatico & it was amazing. My friend enjoyed the gnocchi followed by the cannoli cake (it looked amazing, unfortunately due to allergies I could not partake). Waitstaff was awesome & have good recommendations. Will return again for sure! 💜

    I’ve eaten here many times and have always enjoyed my meal - and I enjoyed my meal this time. But it was too crowded - not there fault, in fact I’m happy for them. I’ll be back, the food is always so good.

    Overbooked reservations- restaurant could not accommodate reservations. And we were not the only ones, multiple parties - who also had reservations- were spilling into the street waiting. We left.

    Lovely evening. First time at La Viola. The food was delish and came out super fast. Love the byob option. Was able to chat with the proprietor Dominic. It’s clear he is passionate about making dinner a wonderful experience. A lot of character. How restaurants should treat quests. A step back in time. Loved it!!! Will be back again soon!

    Perhaps it was my mistake but there are two restaurants of the same name, across the street from each other. I had a reservation at the nicer of the two, but didn't realize it and checked in at the other (the Bistro). They took my name and seated me and I never realized I was in the wrong place until my meal was over and I walked outside. I'm assuming the food is the same, which was nothing special. I can only speak for the Bistro but there's not ambiance, tiny tables spaced a foot away from the table next two you, and so loud you can't have a conversation.

    We got there and only then realized the restaurant was BYOB so my date left to grab a bottle of wine from up the street (good thing there was a close shop). So there I am in front of god and everybody looking like my date just walked out on me while she ran to grab wine, but that’s really on me. Overall the food was really good and I would absolutely eat here again. The ambience was a little strange. Between the Christmas lights still hanging in one corner, having been sat at one table in the dining room that was just a folding table with a cloth on it and the music playlist (which shifted between Italian opera, symphony pieces and electronic covers of such hits as “The House of the Rising Sun”) the vibes were sort of rancid. Overall 4.5/5

    Staff was very helpful and friendly. We were there for my husband’s birthday. Arrived at a great time for choice of a table for two. Chose nice quiet spot in back. Food delicious! Only thing I would add would be quiet music in background. Hope to go again!

    This was our first time at La Viola. The service we great, as was the food. The only negative thing I have to say is we were unaware of the cash-only policy. They need to make it more noticeable if it is on their website because I did not see it. It just happened that my Wife had enough cash on her.

    Another delicious dinner at La Viola. Homemade arugula pasta was excellent-better than the pasta I had the week before which was also delicious. Dominic was super sweet & friendly. Will definitely return & highly recommend!

    So bad. Didn't know you have to bring your own wine. We were brought downstairs, which was extremely noisy. People were drinking a lot - bring your own wine.... Tons of bottles on the tables, the noise level was extreme! We left right away. Dreadful. Never again...

    Ordered: Veal Marsala. Arrival: Food arrived within 5 minutes of finishing salad Food: Veal- Rubbery texture, didn't taste fresh, different temperatures throughout the meat Potato- maybe 2 ounces of potato, also different temperatures throughout the two pieces Red Cabbage- 3-4 slivers Sauce- saltier than flavorful, didn't taste much garlic Shrimp- Two shrimps, 30-40 size, didn't taste fresh Interesting notice: I saw two other dishes delivered to two patrons that were steaming, that's when I realized that my dish was prepared in a different way. I didn't like the meal.
