Absolutely LOVE La Viola! This wasn’t our first time there. I really needed to get out (because of Covid). They really were very good with their precautions. So, we went out for my sons birthday. We both had the fish soup (special) which was fantastic. I got the black ink pasta with seafood special & it was so good! My son ordered the stuffed pork chop special and he said it was very good also! His wife ordered a chicken dish from the menu & said “it was the best she had”! It’s a bring your own bottle restaurant. I always tell people about this restaurant. One of the best in a great area!
Fantastic food and the staff was great! We will definitely go again the next time we’re traveling.
Great food, great service! Everything was perfect! Will definitely go back.
We came a party of 5 and they accommodated us in a very safe area the tables were in a good distance from one another, the food was excellent, tried the pasta special with seafood everyone loved their dishes. Service was great will definitely come back.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Philadelphia. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Philly. Highly recommend! They have the best tiramisu, hands down!
Felt rushed- food came out way too fast
Food was just okay
Haven’t been dining outside since Covid started and we chose La Viola to make a comeback. Covid restrictions were well respected, felt safe and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Food was delicious and service was exemplary. Will be back!
Intimate and awesome setting with great food and service. Def recommend!
My friends and I really enjoyed our dinner at La Viola. Everything from the food to the service was perfect. The guys were very attentive, and we really had a great time. I saw a lot of comments regarding COVID and I am surprised by how negative people can be. We really did not have any concerns regarding this issue, the guys were wearing masks at all times, the tables were far apart so no problem there. I feel like some people don't understand how hard it is for restaurant workers to keep their masks on and try to make everyone feel safe. I would definitely recommend La Viola to all my friends and family. The food is great especially their pasta and they have the best bread I have ever had.
One of my favorite BYOB restaurants in Philadelphia. I love going here, the staff is so nice and welcoming and the food is exceptional. Every time I am in the mood for Italian food La Viola is my to-go place. I usually try to get different things from the menu every time, but my favorite is Linguni seafood. During these difficult times, restaurants have been suffering the most, but I felt like they were doing a great job. Their tables were 6ft apart, and it was definitely not crowded. The staff was wearing masks at all times and they also had hand sanitizers at the entrance so I definitely felt safe and really had a good time. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great Italian BYOB restaurant and they do accept both cards and cash.
I went here with my husband after so many of our friends recommended it and I have to say we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. I had their famous caesar salad and the tagliatelle pasta. I love the consistency of the pasta sauce, very creamy and nice. Our waiter was really nice and made us feel really comfortable. Everyone was wearing masks and all the tables were very far from one another. We both felt safe considering the current situation we are in. This will definitely not be our last time here, we will return for more visits for sure. Last but not least I loved their bread and oil. The bread was nice and soft. Overall great experience.
Valentine’s Day was way over booked. Service sucked because of it.
Food was disgusting!! The service was even worse . The sea bass was raw and when I asked to replace my meal bc it was a set menu , I was brought the same course back also raw and under cooked . I was bumped from the main restaurant and sent across the street bc they over booked for my reservation. Terrible experience all the way around . The lobster bisque was very good .
Waited 40 minutes for a menu then rudeness. Party got up and left.
Very crowded for “50% capacity.” We dined out for Valentine’s Day and were seated about a foot away from another couple. The restaurant was full.
The hostesses were friendly, but the waitstaff was not. Our waiter did not even greet us - just asked right away if we were ready to order.
Unfortunately, for this being my first time going to this restaurant I was pretty disappointed. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who has really good taste in food and local restaurants in the area so I was pretty excited to attend.
They had a prefixed menu which was fine by me, but the quality was subpar at best. Food did not come out on time and several dishes were warm some even cold.
The service was my biggest issue. Our waiter was inattentive at times blatantly ignoring our requests for service! He often forgot little things that requested and after our entrees came our table seemingly became invisible. He managed to serve the surrounding tables with no problems, but never checked in our us. He did clear our plates but never came back to discuss desserts or even the check. We waited for over 45 minutes before we managed to get someone to attend to us for desserts and to pay.
The evening started out great but that feeling quickly dissipated once we realized just what we were in for. Maybe I will give them another chance, but it’s unlikely.
Terrible experience. First off we were unaware that there was a pre fixe menu of $50 pp. Second, all of the dishes were meat and seafood. There was no option for pasta, unless you wanted seafood in it, which I don’t eat. Third, there were no covid regulations being followed. Tables were sat right on top of one another, the room was absolutely packed, it was like going back in time to 2019. Would never ever go back to this place or recommend to anyone.
We went here for Valentine’s Day, so the pre-selected menu was to be expected.
Things started out fine during our reservation but as the restaurant got more and more crowded they started seating people closer and closer to us. I don’t know how they were able to get away with what they did with all of the Covid regulations. At one point there were 3 tables seated in six feet of space. My husband and I felt extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I were there for Valentine’s Day and had to order the 3 course meal as there was no other choice, but we had to order our dessert to go as we just weren’t comfortable staying there any longer. Not to mention that my husband’s pork chop was raw (as was the tables’s next to ours). Both sent it back and when they both came out the outside was charred but the inside was still raw. The table in the other side of us said their bread was frozen. Of course we could hear all of their conversations because they were both seated within a foot of our table. The whole experience was not good.
This restaurant was not following the COVID protocols of having 50% capacity. When we got there, it was empty and we felt good being seated. However, after 15-20 min, after our first course, the place was packed. They filled up their upper and lower dining room to easily 80% capacity, with people sitting side by side and not 6 day apart. We were so uncomfortable that we asked for our entree and dessert (we were paying for a prix fixe menu) to go. So we paid, took our food, and left. But it definitely was not safe and they were putting everyone at risk. I understand restaurants are struggling, but that wasn’t right. And it sucks because the food was actually tasty. It’s just not okay to not follow the protocols set forth to keep both staff and diner safe.
Perfect valentines day dinner. We are definitely going again next year!
Great BYOB with fantastic service and wonderful food. But it is CASH ONLY so either bring cash or go to the ATM around the corner. There's also a wine store around the corner since it is BYOB.
It’s not covid safe . The seats are not 6feet a part . It’s cash only and byob I think that’s tacky . The food has this chared taste like burnt smh.
Everything from the food to the service was great. I loved the ambience, will definitely be going back
La Viola West is just a great as La Viola East - great food & attentive service!
Excellent service, ambience, and food! We were visiting from out of town and very glad we chose La Viola for our anniversary dinner. If you want social distancing though, you need to opt for the outside dining.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent experience. We have been eating at La Viola for years with consistently great experiences.
Food was delicious! I had gotten the soup (a vegetable based soup puree) and the orecchiette pasta dish. Flavor was very full and delicious. Friend got the Veal marsala dish and was disappointed on the size (given 2 very thin slices of Veal and a side of vegetable. No pasta) and was left feeling hungry.
Pasta dish and an app is the only way to go if they don't correct the sizes.
This is my first review of La Viola Ovieste. However, we have been coming here for years. Dining in Philadelphia during the winter of the pandemic is a challenge for restaurant, staff and diners. La Viola did a great job making us comfortable outside. Food quality was excellent and always a good value. Service was attentive and friendly. I will always return here for a great casual meal.
The food is great and the prices are reasonable! The service was great and our whole party had a great time!!!
Wonderful service and wonderful
Always a great time here. The food is superb and the staff are always a fun time! We also had our rehearsal dinner here and it was amazing. Guests had a3 course meal and lots of options to choose from and it was all delicious
Fantastic in everyway - highly recommended - thank you!
The best place to gather! Such warm vibes abs fantastic food.
Great spot. Only issue was the Lamb Chops special was cooked medium-well instead of medium-rare as asked, but still very tasty. Good service, would go back.
La Viola is always great. I had my rehearsal dinner there as well as birthday dinners and bachelorette parties. They never fail in pleasing everyone.
We really had a great time. The food was excellent . Can’t believe we have never been there . Definitely on my radar for a return visit ....
The food was delicious, came out in a timely manner and the restaurant staff were welcoming. Also can’t go wrong with BYOB!
We had an amazing diner at La Viola Ovest. Never had that kind of pasta dish, the sauce and flavors of the seafood melted to perfection.
Strongly recommended, the service is excellent always. Grab your wine and don’t miss the chance.
Keep up the good work guys!
We were a party of 4, everything was handled very good. The fungi and mussels red were so fresh and good, my pasta special was very tasty and fresh. Service was amazing wonderful staff and food.I highly recommend this amazing restaurant.
