Food is always amazing and he service is beyond good. A must do when i am in town. I just wish they would accept credit cards.
Food edible but not what you would expect from a good Italian restaurant. When we asked for crated cheese, we were told they ran out. Service was rude. Cash only.
Outstanding service and food quality!! Felt like Italy.
We sat outside in an alley way.....not very pleasing, Loud family with a dog and screaming child...
Table was not steady.
Food was OK...........had a better meal here years ago.
This was my first and definitely last time at La Viola- East (never been to the West location, so my review is for the East restaurant only).
The place is small and shabby, the service is mediocre. The menu is limited and the food was blunt, with tomato sauce overshadowing most of the dishes. For the first time in my restaurant dining experience I was served bread toasted in an oven.
And....they accept cash only...
Great food and service!! Highly recommend trying La Viola WEST - when we arrived East was very busy and we were offered going across the street to West and it was great!!
Very good food.
RW lunch menú is a great deal, 20 bucks including appetizer, main course and dessert
Love coming here. Love the staff and love the food. Never had a bad experience.
While the service was good, the food was of poor quality. Canned green beans served as the accompanying vegetable. Chicken breast was tough and the tilapia with shrimp was as well. I'm not sure if it was because it was restaurant week, but I'm not sure if I will go back.
Enjoyed lunch and the quietness of the room. Nice that tables were far apart and it wasn't too crowded. Food was good and plentiful and much value for the price.
Overall good. Food was very good, mussels appetizer and orricchette with chicken and sausage was excellent. Tiramisu, although great flavor- kinda soggy. Lost power prior to is getting there-wound up sitting outside on tilted sidewalk/ little awkward.
We were a party of four dining on the Restaurant Week menu which offered so many delicious choices. I had Caesar salad, pea soup and some delicious past a with shrimp. For dessert I enjoyed tartufo which was great. Other members of our group equally enjoyed their dinners. Management let us sit and chat for a long period of time. Totally a great choice for Restaurant Week.
We really needed the night out. Enjoyed going into Philly and had been to La Viola before. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and just wanted to make the best of the nice night out. They took us early and were very pleasant. The menu choices for restaurant week were nice (4 courses) and being a BYOB was plus. I had the pork chop which was supposed to be stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella but wasn't. My wife had the veal and thought it was a bit dry. Enjoyed our meals but not a "great meal" we'd return for. Glad I had cash on me as notifications of cash only aren't obvious on the website. The staff was great, attentive and extremely courteous as they were very busy. Still enjoyed ourselves.
We felt very rushed,. we did not even finish our dessert when they brought the check and severs were standing behind us waiting for us to get up. It was very uncomfortable
Enjoy the closest I can get to authentic Italian without actually going to Italy. The food served falls lower on my list of faves. Not bad, but I would most likely not return
My husband ordered the pasta capo di mare , they ran out of papperdelle and didn’t tell us. They just brought him fettuccine and when we questioned it they seemed puzzled. After the meal was over and they saw he didn’t eat much they did offer to make another meal but by then it was too late. It seemed a little disorganized. I understand with covid all the changes that need to take place, however it seemed all last minute thrown together. We kept asking for ice but since we never saw the same waiter twice we never received it.
Also We did not know it was cash only till end of meal.
Delicious meal can’t beat the food, value, service.
Nice little restaurant, small inside but lots of outdoor seating. Superb caesars salad and 2 great veal dishes, ala viola and ala sud. This will be a restaurant we will go back to many times.
The food and service was good. I thought I was going to still be hungry with my meal not coming with pasta but I was. I definitely recommend
Food was good but not great. Restaurant very busy and they made it clear they wanted us to finish and get out!
The experience was absolutely amazing. The wait staff were so attentive (my water was never below half a glass). Everyone was so kind as well. The food was to die for. The portions for restaurant week were huge and so filling. All and all an amazing experience.
Dinner was excellent . Server was very friendly and helpful.
Amazing as always
The service is amazing and the food comes out very quickly!! One of my favorite places to eat in Philly.
The food is good but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The staff is also surly.
Overall was a good meal especially for the value / price. The food this time was good but not top notch. rib eye was a bit too much gristle and antipasta was a bit underwhelming (heap of lettuce with few slices of meats, cheese and red peppers scattered on top). Service was a bit slow at timestoo
The food was amazing and the service was perfect. Go you won’t regret it.
This was A+ experience- First time for me and I’ll definitely go back!
The staff was eager to accommodate us when we arrived and preferred to eat inside the tent with the heater. Many of the wait staff immediately responded and truly cared about our request.
The service was outstanding. The waiters and waitresses are friendly, happy, professional, and expert in the business! The food was impeccable and memorable.
Thank you to all who worked hard to make our night out so special.
Wishing you all a safe and healthy spring.
We were certainly make reservations again to dine at La Viola.
So wonderfully accommodating. It is byob and cash. Good to know!
Best BYOB in the city. Most attentive service staff ever. Food was phenomenal--I had the chicken with lots of cheese, asparagus and prosciutto. Grilled calamari was okay--mussells were much better!
Food was amazing!! I have been coming here for years and they never disappoint
Wonderful service, great food!!
Late lunch outside. Bistro is one of our regular outdoor dining spots now. Great heaters and the same wonderful pastas as always. Dining out in February in Philly, who knew. We’re comfortable there and it’s fun. Special salads and pastas are always unique. Tony has been taking great care of us all along.
We weren’t told ahead of time that there’d be a special menu for Valentine’s Day. We showed up excited to try what we thought would be on the menu to our disappointment. My wife placed her order for it to arrive missing items that should have been included. Our server never told us they’d ran out of the specific noodles and substituted them with spaghetti noodles. Also, they’d run out of scallops which should have been on her plate as well. As for our server he said hello.. and goodbye. He. was missing the whole night never checking back on the table.
I dined here for Valentines Day dinner, the food was absolutely delicious. The service was great. We had many waiters/waitresses approach the table either to bus or to serve food. Our server was great at recommending dishes and overall everything was perfect.
Great restaurant. I loved the food, staff, and ambiance. I would definitely go back.
For the value, one of the best restaurants in the city. Food is ALWAYS good, variety of specials, super friendly staff.
Great food just as I remembered, friendly timely service and so affordable for a group!
