Best BYOB in the city. Most attentive service staff ever. Food was phenomenal--I had the chicken with lots of cheese, asparagus and prosciutto. Grilled calamari was okay--mussells were much better!
Food was amazing!! I have been coming here for years and they never disappoint
Wonderful service, great food!!
Late lunch outside. Bistro is one of our regular outdoor dining spots now. Great heaters and the same wonderful pastas as always. Dining out in February in Philly, who knew. We’re comfortable there and it’s fun. Special salads and pastas are always unique. Tony has been taking great care of us all along.
We weren’t told ahead of time that there’d be a special menu for Valentine’s Day. We showed up excited to try what we thought would be on the menu to our disappointment. My wife placed her order for it to arrive missing items that should have been included. Our server never told us they’d ran out of the specific noodles and substituted them with spaghetti noodles. Also, they’d run out of scallops which should have been on her plate as well. As for our server he said hello.. and goodbye. He. was missing the whole night never checking back on the table.
I dined here for Valentines Day dinner, the food was absolutely delicious. The service was great. We had many waiters/waitresses approach the table either to bus or to serve food. Our server was great at recommending dishes and overall everything was perfect.
Great restaurant. I loved the food, staff, and ambiance. I would definitely go back.
For the value, one of the best restaurants in the city. Food is ALWAYS good, variety of specials, super friendly staff.
Great food just as I remembered, friendly timely service and so affordable for a group!
Amazing as always! Food is delicious and fresh and service by Sid was impeccable. Love this place.
A wonderful place - great food and service - we will be going back.
Best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia hands down. Everyone treats you like you’re part of the family. It’s absolutely my favorite spot to go to.
charming Italian BYO with old country feel right in the middle of town
I booked this one for our anniversary. We had reservations for 7PM, we arrived late I did call the hostess 10 minutes prior our reservation to let her know we will be late by about 10 minutes.
We arrived at 7:09 PM. We waited maybe 2 minutes or so for them to clear the table, no worries anyway we were late. We were seated promptly after. The menus were brought over and we had time to discuss what we would like to order before the waiter came.
He was polite and courteous. Told us about the specials, but we decided to go with what we wanted.
We got the bistro salad- little heavy on the vinaigrette but I still enjoyed
The frontenta- mix of mushrooms, was amazing don’t sleep on this one
The pollo Marco Polo- was great, we got it without the pork because we don’t eat the pork, but it was amazing I can imagine it with the pork.
The linguine and salmon- probably the best salmon that has touched my tongue in years. Outstanding and compliments to the chef on that one.
Chocolate mousse- amazing to say the least, it was light and not heavy, you could probably eat two even if your full.
The lemon sorbet- was creative and delicious as it was in a lemon.
The water was never empty or half full. Great service and the wait time for the food was perfect from appetizer to main dish to dessert. I will be back here again on another occasion to try your other dishes.
Best place to come to for date night or special occasion. Reasonably priced and some of the best food in the city.
Loved how accommodating the staff was! Food was delicious.
Amazing experience. Food was so fresh. Will definitely be returning! And I love that its byob!!!
Amazing food. BYOB. Best Italian restaurant in the area.
Great menu, service and prices. Love it here, it's like family!
Food is always great and service impeccable
The food was really good amd out server was great. We, of course, sat outside so the ambiance was you would expect. I would definitely eat there again.
Great restaurant and I’ve booked twice! But I refuse to go back if they only accept cash. That was an inconvenience and made me have to walk across the street to use an ATM. Please fix this! Thanks.
Excellent food and excellent service.
We booked days in advance, got there and there was a giant line outside of other people with reservations that we were required to stand in, surrounded shoulder to shoulder, in the middle of COVID. We waited for 45 minutes and then left. I get that mistakes can happen, but how you deal with them matters, La Viola epically failed.
Great way to experience restaurant week! Would def go again
I was really pleased eating at this restaurant. The salad was great, the lobster ravioli was phenomenal! I would recommend to friends and I will be back!
Amazing food, busy street though. Best place I ate for restaurant week! Amazing mussels and ribeye!!
We had restaurant week menu and it was fantastic
Good thing they are BYOB
Only one warning: is a cash only establishment so be prepared
The mussels were fresh and delicate prepare in white wine and garlic sauce
Penne a la Vodka was excellent
And the Tiramisu superb !
Looking forward to return soon
We had the best time and our waiter was so nice and funny! Will definitely be back!
Just went for restaurant week with friends. Our servers were great. They were on top of everything without over crowding us. Food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be going back
The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. However, be warned that the restaurant is cash only. We had + $500 bill, and at no point was it made clear that the restaurant only accepted cash. This left us scrambling to assemble enough money to pay.
I went to La Viola with a group of friends during Philly Restaurant Week. We were seated outside along the side of the building, in a beautiful area lit with string lights. It gave the feel of outdoor dining without the vulnerability of being right on the street. We received four courses. The portions were adequate, the presentation was very good and the food was delicious! The service left a lot to be desired, but I suspect this was due to them being extremely busy over Restaurant Week. Beautiful setting, great food and good portion size for the price. I would come here again!
Did not realize it was restaurant week when I made the reservation but we were pleasantly surprised. They served a 4 course meal that was absolutely fantastic. We all got a salad, then soup or another app, then a huge portion of pasta or fish & topped off with a delicious dessert. What more can you ask for? We loved that we were able to eat inside & it's a BYOB. Everything that we all (4 of us) was so fresh & delicious. We will definitely return.
We had a lovely night our first time back in the city since Covid. Delighted with our choice everyone was so inviting and friendly our meals were perfect. Loved the smoked trout salad. Looking forward to the next time.
Super friendly staff in convenient location. Great authentic Italian food! Consistent!
The veal parm was fantastic!! So thin and tasty! Service was great. I went on Saturday and I’m already planning to go back this coming week.
Fantastic meal and service!! Lived around the corner for years and finally came here and it was great. Will be back!
The food was fantastic and the service was excellent!
Dining outdoors. Service & food were excellent. Sidewalk is a bit narrow, but otherwise fine.
La Viola's food is always good. I was very impressed with their outdoor space during this pandemic. The waiters were also very friendly and helpful with our meal.
