The atmosphere and energy was amazing the music had a good feel. My friends and really enjoyed our seats which was so comfortable. We really wanted to get dessert a particular but was disappointed to learn there wasn’t an option for vanilla ice cream to go along with it.
Ashleigh was a wonderful server. Everything we tried was great. Atmosphere was very nice. Unique decor. Great views. Highly recommend this place. Can’t wait to go back.
What a gorgeous restaurant and a fantastic menu! Our service was great and we enjoyed everything about it. We shared appreciates (calamari misto, shrimp casino, burratta) and all were amazing. We also really mixed it up on the entrees (halibut, lamb, mussels) and we were all very pleased! Highly recommend!
Such a great time, staff is super courteous, will be back!
Excellent vibe. Superb service. Great food. Only wish they had options for kids
A birthday party
Poor food quality, but great space and view
Food was good and prices are reasonable. Would appreciate warmer service and attentions to small detai
One of my new fav restaurants! Would like to come back during the day to get better lighting in pictures. Overall, great experience.
Food was great, view is wonderful and staff were excellent.
I reserved this restaurant for my husbands birthday and requested a seat at the window overlooking the water. We were seated at a table at the window overlooking the boats and the people with a partial water view. When I requested a seat at the window the hostess told me they were expecting a large party and I couldn’t get the seat that was empty at the window. 10 mins later a couple was seated at the table I requested!
I wanted to go back to the hostess and get an answer of why another couple was seated at the table I was told was waiting for a large party! My husband asked me not to so I didn’t.
I informed the waiter what happened and he COMP my husband a non alcoholic beverage and dessert for his birthday. I was very disappointed with the whole ordeal.
The food, decor, and views at La Vie are good. However the service we received was shockingly bad. We arrived for our 5pm early dinner reservation (eating early because I was performing at Arena Stage at 7:30), and the two hostesses literally looked us up and down as if judging whether we were trendy enough to eat at La Vie. The restaurant was almost empty. Also bear in mind, we were dressed very nicely (MaxMara and Burberry) so it's not like we rolled up in cutoffs and flip flops. In our reservation we specifically asked for a table by the window, but the hostess insisted there were none available and sat us at a table directly next to the busboy stand. Because it was 5pm, there were several empty tables next to the window, but they kept insisting that we could not sit there. Those tables remained empty throughout our meal. Because we were next to the busboy stand, I had waitstaff bumping into the back of my chair every few minutes. We even had to move the table ourselves a few inches away from the stand because it was so annoying. We planned two hours for our meal here, but they rushed us out within an hour. When I say rushed, they would set down a course and then literally were hovering around watching us while we were eating. As soon as an appetizer plate looked empty they pulled it off the table even though we were still eating the appetizers. The waiter handed us the dessert menu while we were not even halfway through our entrees As soon as my daughter put her fork down to take a sip of water they picked up her plate and took it away. She was not done and I was still eating my entree, but they scooped up her plate anyway. It was clear that they wanted us out as soon as possible. I mentioned this to our waiter and he made some excuse about them wanting to clear the plates quickly because the "tables are so small". It didn't make sense at all (the tables are not small). We will not be returning.
Celebrated my birthday here and it was amazing! I picked La Vie for its beautiful interior and the restaurant looked even better in person. The drinks were amazing, appetizers and food were delicious, and dessert was pretty good. Our waiter was super kind and our food came out in a timely fashion. They also have a selfie wall in the bathroom. Overall, it was perfect for my birthday.
The server was very nice, but not attentive at all. We sat there with our finished dishes for probably 10 minutes before someone came by to ask me if I wanted a box. Then, didn’t see him for another 5 minutes maybe? Food was very good, fries came out cold.
Very nice staff, great food, lovely decor, nice space and view of wharf, very loud and hard to have a conversation
The service was off the hook and we had a great time.
Note: I never wrote a review for a place before so this must be good)
THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE HERE I HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT La Vie SO TO ACTUALLY GET MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT! LOCATION WAS GREAT! FOOD WAS AMAZING ! AND I HAD THE BEST SERVER THAT NIGHT HE HAD SO MUCH CHARACTER AND FULL OF LAUGHTER AND VERY ATTENTIVE. HE MADE MY EXPERIENCE EVEN BETTER. THE VENUE WAS INCOMPARABLE A VERY NICE VIBE AND FEEL. THE STAFF IS VERY WELCOMING GREETED ME AS I CAME UP THE ELEVATOR AND OUT. THEY WERE VERY AWARE THAT IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY AND MADE ME FEEL SPECIAL ON MY BIG NIGHT! La Via IS NORE THEN A RESTAURANT ITS A LIFESTYLE! OUTSTANDING JOB ALL AROUND! I DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK THANKS AGAIN FOR A GREAT TIME!
I had terrible experience at La Vie. The restaurant was extrememly noisy. I had to literrally shout to make sure my partner ( who sat right next to me ), could hear me. The food was very disappointing compared to the price we paid. We ordered steak but the waiter didnot even ask us how we wanted it cooked which is not at all accepatable. He served us meduim well done steak while we prefer to eat medium rare. I didn’t complain to the server because I thought it will be more effective to write a review. The fries that came with the steak were very hard and tasted like rubber. It felt like the food was from a low end diner instead of a high end restaurant. I will never go back to La Vie again and wouldn’t recommend any of my friends and family to waste their money there.
The service here was excellent. Bianca was extremely helpful and made our dinner a great experience.
LaVie is a beautiful restaurant, excellent and creative food choices that are reasonably priced. There was a mix-up in our reservations. I had requested a window table and the 3 women at the maitre d' station said there were none available. In fact there were open window tables throughout our anniversary dining experience. The service is rated 4 stars as a result of their indifference. Our waiter was outstanding! We can't give him enough credit for attention, experience, timeliness to our needs and courtesy. Also, the manager stopped by our table at the end of our visit. We very much appreciated his concern AND WILL RETURN TO LAVIE.
Service was a little slow, but otherwise a great experience.
Our food took 56 minutes but I enjoyed my meal. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the beautiful view!
A gorgeous and elegant place but cooked dishes were a bit too salty. A dish with fresh ingredients should not be overly salty. It takes away the enjoyment of eating and tasting the freshness of the foods. It otherwise was a wonderful dining experience overall with amazing views, attentive services in one of the most beautiful settings amongst DC restaurants.
Great customer service; good food and wonderful views of the Waterfront.
Amazing view, great food, Ambiance outstanding. Our top five*
The Customer Service was EXCELLENT!! I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday and even though I arrived late the reservation was still honored. We were sat in a corner seat initially but I came for the wonderful view of the SW Wharf (which we couldn’t see from those seats). I expressed this to the hostess and she advised that there would be a wait for a seat by the window BUT she gave us 2 free drink tickets to the bar and said she’d come get us when the table was ready. Before our dunks were ready she came and said the table was ready!! Food was EXCELLENT!!! Bill was LESS than expected (always a plus!).
Experience great and the staff was excellent!
We were incredibly disappointed with the service and food at La Vie. The menu itself is uninspiring. We took longer than usual to order because nothing seemed intriguing. The appetizer or small plate portion sizes were tiny. The "prawns" are just four small shrimp which they charged almost $20 for. Service was slow and not particularly helpful. Our server saw that there were four of us dining, but did not think to tell alert us when we ordered a starter with three servings. She was also unable to recommend wine pairings.
My husband ordered the crab cake, which was actually crunchy because of all of the shells. The roast chicken was bland. Overall, everything was overpriced. We will not be coming back.
great new hot spot on The Wharf in DC. beautiful and creative interior and great food to match.
The prices are way to high, and the portion size does not reflect the price amount. The food was just okay, but the restaurant is pretty in the inside.
La Vie is a chic classy spot for night life dining with few friends or even large groups.
It's cozy yet upscale!
Thank you for a great experience!
Really nice ambiance, great cocktails, excellent food. Got a table with a great view. Dessert selection had only three choices and we didn’t love what we got but probably just chose wrong.
Fantastic service, and food was delicious. Some really interesting bar drinks. Super fantastic view.
Great Place with amazing views of the waterfront. The decor is beautiful & the seating is spacious without being overcrowded. The food was exquisite.
Great spot overlooking the waterfront. Excellent food and service. Nice for before theater performance at The Anthem. Right next door makes it easy.
too noisy food overwrought service attentive great view very bright
The food was good but not great. Beet salad was tasty and my friend enjoyed the lobster ravioli. Our waiter was attentive, although the wine was served while we were midway through our appetizer. A little on the slow side, I thought. The ambiance is nice and the view is lovely.
I was annoyed with the service at the front desk. I had called and emailed in advance to find out about valet service or a parking validation. I spoke to a person who told me there is no valet parking at The Wharf but that my parking would be validated. Gave my parking ticket to the waiter and was told the front desk would validate. Stopped on the way out the door and was told they do not validate. Did they lie to me when I called or do the employees not know the policy?
I realize this is a minor issue overall, but it left an unpleasant impression at the end of what should have been a nice evening.
The venue and decor are superb! The food was very good, but didn't wow me and for the price I expected it to. My fish entree was $45 and it was not worth that price tag in my opinion.
Very cool space with an awesome view. The food was on point as well. The staff showed us around the entire place as it was our first time there. I highly recommend checking it out.
The cutest restaurant with amazing food! Food portions are great and are worth the cost!
