Our party of 4 loved the decor the minute we walked in. Our server, Mitzi, was exceptional including her table side preparations of Caesar salad, pappardelle tartufo, and fettuccine Alfredo. The salad was fabulous as was the melon and corn gazpacho ((went out on a limb and ordered it and sooo glad I did,). The pasta dishes were fabulous. The chicken in truffle sauce was awesome and so was the duck. We will definitely be back!

My review of all threes is based on the expense of the menu. Service was a bit spotty so I wouldn't change that but this restaurant is not worth the premium prices. I've had better, more interesting, tasty food at places half the price. Also, the HVAC noise(not all will find it annoying) was a distraction, as well as two different music streams playing, one in the bar and one in the restaurant. There are better high-end values out there.

Delicious...bit pricey, but that's OK. Not too crowded-pastas are wonderful-homemade and very filling! We loved the table side caesar salad!

We had the specials - a wonderful pea pasta and a stuffed large grilled squid served on a bed of lemony arugula .... started with the made at tableside cesar salid which was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and gave wonderful wine suggestions.

Such a delightful and delicious reason to enjoy a lovely dinner out. The decor is charming and the food.... absolutely delicious! There is such pride taken with the quality of ingredients and preparation! Begin with the house wine, just as delicious as one you might find in a little Tuscan trattoria. Awaken your tastebuds with the Hamachi (the flavors are beautifully balanced). The classic Caesar (table side) and the Melon/Prosciutto/Burrata are perfect salads. Delight in the table side presentation of the wood fired fish, so simple and so perfect. Hazelnut and Pistachio gelato's are the finish. Looking forward to returning very soon... with friends :)

The dinner, service and our waiter were all fantastic! The chef/owner visited our table and when asked about choosing between two pasta dishes, offered to create one that would be delicious and memorable. It truly was!

The dinner was above average, but there seems to be a glitch with your communications with this restaurant. They claimed to have no knowledge of my reservation made with you even after showing them my confirmation from you on my phone. Suggest you correct the problem with them.

This was a promising restaurant and overall, the food was good. But they simply did not have the right team in place to execute. I ordered a pasta dish that was to be prepared tableside ... unfortunately, the wait staff was learning how to prepare the order so it ended up being served to me cold. TIP: Unless you are ordering the Caesar Salad (which is also prepared tableside), ask for your order to be prepared by the chef. There's a reason that the chef cooks the food. My replacement order came out of the kitchen perfect and hot. Very close to the same dish I recently enjoyed near the Spanish steps in Rome. Presentation was amazing because someone who knew how to cook, cooked. Imagine.

Even though the restaurant had enough staff and very few customers, the service was slow. I sat near the bar but that didn't mean I received drinks quickly.

The tiramisu was excellent. The chocolate gelato inedible.

The following night I enjoyed a meal at Victor's Ostaria -- their service was far superb to La Trattoria di Francesco and they too wanted to prepare my pasta dish table-side. But I asked the chef to do it in the kitchen. The quality of Victor's food was on par with Francesco's but their service outshone Francesco two to one.

The food and service were excellent. The flavors were fantastic, from the appetizers to the dessert. My kids were were amazed by the presentation and taste of the menu. We each ordered a different meal to share, all of them were delicious.

Enjoyed a remarkable meal, certainly one of the best in recent memory. Our waiter Demitrius was efficient and charming. The rooms are very beautiful as are the china and glassware. The evening felt very special.

My girlfriend and I recently went to La trattoria for her birthday dinner. I was excited to go as I had not eaten there yet and had heard some good things about it. We were seated at a nice window table and I thought that was promising start. While we brought our own wine - my girlfriend wanted one of her favorites - besides the first pour, we had to pour most of the remainder of the bottle ourselves. It took a full HOUR to get our salad. At first, we were told we could have the Caesar salad as there was a problem with the kitchen. Hmmmm. Fortunately our waiter came through and made the salad himself at our table and it was good. We then split the ravioli. It was so over salted we could barely eat it, let alone taste the flavors of the filling. We took the leftovers home as my husband will eat anything. His first words were, "geez this is so salty!!!".

So for my first experience at La trattoria, it will probably be my last - slow, inattentive service, not spectacular food and their high prices will keep me going to Osteria Amore - my neighborhood Italian - not as fancy, but so much more enjoyable.

While the food is good, it is overpriced and the service was surprisingly poor.

The server brought us the wrong dish and when asked if it was what it was what we ordered (as it was delivered) she told us that yes, it was what we ordered.

We tried it and it clearly was not. We asked the bus staff to let our server know we wanted to talk with her and she would not come back to the table for quite a while - eventuality another server apologized and promised to get us our dish.

It was very awkward and eventually our server came over and kept telling us we were so lucky to have e tried another dish and how wonderful our experience must have been.

We won’t be back.

I recently had the opportunity to take my family out to a proper dinner amidst all of our hectic schedules. Giuseppe and his team made it a fabulous and memorable experience.
The food was on point. Quail egg over caviar and roe, White fish in a citrus marinade made for excellent starters. Savory pasta, duck breast, we were in food heaven! Pastries and Port to wrap it all up were over the top. John’s desserts are next level. Food is wonderfully balanced and meticulously prepared and presented.
The service was impeccable and at the same level as the glorious delights coming out of the kitchen. Demetrese made us feel as if we were the only folks that mattered, and in the brief moments that I pulled my attention away from our conversations I could tell that everyone else in the place were having the same experience.
We have joined their family, whether they like it or not. :-)

Claudio took great care of us. We felt an emotional connection with him. He cared about what we were ordering. He took the time to listen and make heartfelt recommendations based on what he truly sensed we would enjoy. I altered a couple initial requests based on his suggestions and was absolutely delighted. Bravo to the staff and especially Claudio. We had such a memorable experience. I'm already thinking about who to invite for our next visit.

Selfishly I hope nobody else finds this restaurant! To have food this good in Salt Lake City is awesome. My wife and I lived in Milan for a while and got spoiled by the entire experience of eating in Italy. This is the first place in the States since we came back 20 years ago that made me feel like I was right back in Southern Italy

Claudio, our server, was such a gregarious (and hilarious) character in a cozy, sparkly, retro setting. He took time to chat with us about every aspect of our experience. The Fennel/Orange salad was bursting with various flavors, fresh, bright, and delicious. For me,, the chef created a mouth-watering homemade ravioli with a freshly-made (on the spot) spicy marinara, which wasn't even on the menu. We spent a good four hours being entertained with great conversation and food until Gepetto arrived with his cart to make tiramisu for two of us at our table. I had chocolate cake, which had oranges, whipped cream, nuts, chocolate bits, and other complimentary secret ingredients. No doubt, I appreciated the small portions, because I ate everything on my plate! I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants a truly Italian dining experience. We miss Claudio already.

My adult kids and I had a family dinner on Friday. I had been to this restaurant twice in the last 6 months, but this was the first time with the kids. Service, decor, ambiance--all wonderful. Professional, respectful, courteous and amicable. The service turned a bit slow when the restaurant became crowded. We were seated promptly at 5:30, but did not leave until just before 10. Regrettably, the long dinner was more ascribable to slower service than it was to the delightful conversation among father and children.
The server was kind enough to pair each course with a nice glass of wine for each of us. The wine was good, paired nicely, but was not spectacular--nor did we expect the wine to be spectacular when served by the glass.
The reason I had to give this just an OK overall rating is that expectations rise at this high price point--dinner for 3 ran a little over $500. We started out with a wonderful arancini for the table and some Prosecco. Then we picked a couple of pasta dishes for the table. A lamb ragu and an Alfredo dish. Both were fantastic. For our entre, we all decided to split the $140 steak--the most expensive item on the menu. This is where they lost us. The chef absolutely nailed the temperature--medium rare. It was served Italian-style, sliced on a platter. However, the cut was a bit fatty and gristly--not what was expected for a Prime cut. The meat steak was, altogether, unspectacular. We left most of it untouched, but decided to send the leftovers home with kids--it might be nice on a sandwich or a gift for the dogs. Dessert, Tiramisu, was terrific. I wish I could give this a higher review, but with the centerpiece of dinner, the steak, so mediocre, and the price point so high, I could not rate it higher. Had the price point been half, I would have given this place 5 stars.

Tonight's dining experience will go down as the absolute best I have ever had! Our waiter and wait staff were nothing short of excellent. Their recommendations were spot-on and their presentation and table-side preparation was exquisite! Oh... and the food was outstanding and prepared in a unique and stunning way.

We'll be back!
