   Great staff,great food,great location, great value I would recommend this to anybody who wants a no frills dinning experience for a night out or even lunch.

   I book on line but no one knew we were coming we was whisked up stairs when the atmosphere was down stairs music ,bar etc.This was second time we visited first time was much better and probably luck on our part as we just walked in .Not really interested in visiting any more to many alternatives around canterbury thanks .Steve.

   Enjoyable food but service was a little slow. Drinks order was very slow. It felt like we were seated but then forgotten about as not offered drinks and or menus straight away Some gentle background music would have been nice. Chips were a little soggy. Pulled Pork was only lukewarm. Starters were fantastic- goats cheese and the Camembert. Steak and sauce were delicious.

   We visited La Trappiste for Father's day. The place itself is very authentic and quirky and the manager is very accommodating; we had to rebook our table for a later time because we were stuck in traffic and this was done with no fuss or complication. I thought this very impressive considering it was father's day. When we arrived we were also given a nicer table which was lovely. The food here is amazing and they do over a hundred local beers and ales. The only negatives I can think of is there is no air conditioning so on a hot day it is very hot in there. Our waiter was also very distracted and we had to repeat what we had ordered, this could have been down to the heat though. Overall a brilliant gem of a place. This is my third time there!

   Lovely evening! Took my boys and they loved the atmosphere here too The menu is very European which I love Would recommend for all the family

   We both had the Belgium beef stew served in a bread bowl. It consisted of 80% onion, 10% mushroom and the other 10% was the beef. Oh and I almost forgot the one carrot I found! Definitely not worth £11. We also had the stick of ale which all 6 were very nice. But again was very expensive as it worked out at £8:75 a pint. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the different beers we had. Would only recommend this place as a drinking establishment especially if you're a real ale drinker and not to eat as it was over priced for what you actually get.

   Food average at best. Service slow and amateur. Live piano was good. Overall expensive and not good value.

   Very slow service, no drinks offered while going through menu. Had to call waiter over to order drinks and then again to order food even though staff milling around. No mussels which is one of their main dishes early on a Friday evening! Food mediocre, chips seemed reheated.

    We really enjoy coming to the restaurant for Sunday dinner this time we visited we found vegetables very hard and service slow even though it was not over busy at the time
