La Torretta Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
If you like authentic Italian food, you've got to get yourself to La Torretta. What a gem! Everything about this restaurant was excellent; the food, service and ambiance. You want one more reason? Your experience won't break the bank. I know what you're thinking, "How can a restaurant in North Scottsdale be such a great value?" I'll be honest, I felt the same way. I had reservations (no pun intended) if I would leave with "Buyer's Remorse". I can tell you, there wasn't even a hint of it. No regrets, just full and completely satisfied. Make plans to visit La Torretta soon!
Excellent last minute choice for a dinner of 4 adults. Our waiter Chaz was efficient, friendly and well versed on the menu. My Veal parm was abundant, tender and delicious. The table shared appetizers clams casino and calamari, both were excellent. We had hoped to sit outside, but the area was not ready so we were seated inside. Great authentic, homemade Itialian!
Hostess dipped behind room divider for several minutes to finish her phone call upon arrival. Waiter confusion to start; ordered two glasses of Chianti and waiter decided to bring us one and a Sangiovese; asked twice for our salad, never got it; food was bland. Restaurant looks and feels tired. Overall - an odd experience.
The food was good and the server attentive. the problem was this was my wife's special birthday and I noted it on the open table but nothing was done. That's OK except the table NEXT TO US got a desert with a candle and the waiter wished her a Happy BDay- apparently it was her BD as well. When leaving, my wife wished her a Happy BDAY!
I didn't say anything as it was awkward.....
They were extremely busy and seemed to be likely shorthanded by one or two wait staff. That said, and despite the fact this resulted in service that could've been a tad more attentive, I'd say they did an outstanding job. They really hustled and the food was great.
Visited the restaurant for our 36th wedding anniverary and we weren't dissappointed. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, we had superior service. Our waiter, Chaz, recommended an excellent wine that accompanied our dinner selections. The owner appropriately checked in with us to make sure we were "happy"! Totally enjoyed the experience and will definitely return.
Our second time there since moving to the area and this visit proved that the first one was not a fluke. The only thing I don't understand is why it isn't busier. Anyone going to Maggiano's (way over-rated) or Carrabba's (good but not in the same class) needs to cross Scottsdale Road the next time they go out. Neither of those places comes even close on food quality and, especially compared to Maggiano's, La Torretta is a much better value overall.
Ate dinner there. Restaurant was not too busy, but waiter seemed hurried none the less. Ordered soup which never arrived - at the end of the meal the waiter was apologetic and gave us canolis (sp) to take home but the damage was already done. Food was decent, nothing too exciting.
My husband and I ate at La Torretta on New Year's Eve. The service was outstanding, the food was very good. We are both vegans so it was difficult to find something to eat but we knew this before we dined there. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to friends.
I was greatly disappointed in this visit. We came up with my in-laws and my 18-month-old daughter. The server was rude and never shared the specials and the owner was not as friendly or even receptive to talking to our table as he was with others around us. I feel we were being discriminated against because we had a small child even though she was well behaved (she is very good at restaurants and we also take her outside to entertain her during down times). The food was lackluster and I have had better Italian across the Phoenix area. I was disappointed in the price of the food the taste of the food and the service.
This is not the least expensive Italian restaurant in town, but the food quality is outstanding. The food style is closest to that of Florence. If you don't see what you want on the menu, and they have the ingredients, they will make it for you. More than likely you will go home with leftovers. Also, one of the few Italian places that actually serves vegetables with the entree.
It was unfortunate that two staff members had called in sick and the owner/manager and one other person were attending to the guest. This condition brought about a degree of lack of service under difficult conditions. Our visit was our anniversary which we were expecting the appropriate ambiance, conducive a more romantic setting.
I believe in second chances and we would probably visit, however not for romantic reasons.
