Server was very thorough and friendly!
Always terrific- one of the best servers is Chaz.
Visited the restaurant for our 36th wedding anniverary and we weren't dissappointed. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, we had superior service. Our waiter, Chaz, recommended an excellent wine that accompanied our dinner selections. The owner appropriately checked in with us to make sure we were "happy"! Totally enjoyed the experience and will definitely return.
Our second time there since moving to the area and this visit proved that the first one was not a fluke. The only thing I don't understand is why it isn't busier. Anyone going to Maggiano's (way over-rated) or Carrabba's (good but not in the same class) needs to cross Scottsdale Road the next time they go out. Neither of those places comes even close on food quality and, especially compared to Maggiano's, La Torretta is a much better value overall.
Traditional, good Italian. Nothing fancy, but tasty. Older crowd.
Great food and willingness to make changes to entree and make entree that was not currently on menu. I had the special of grouper and it was fantastic!
Ate dinner there. Restaurant was not too busy, but waiter seemed hurried none the less. Ordered soup which never arrived - at the end of the meal the waiter was apologetic and gave us canolis (sp) to take home but the damage was already done. Food was decent, nothing too exciting.
They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your experience and are happy to make custom dishes for you.
Fabulous . The food is always so good. Great service. Never rushed . Great gem
Fabulous food! Fabulous service! I wish it hadn't taken so long to stop in. Will definitely be back.
Always, always a wonderful meal, excellent service and terrific atmosphere.
Our “neighborhood restaurant”
My husband and I ate at La Torretta on New Year's Eve. The service was outstanding, the food was very good. We are both vegans so it was difficult to find something to eat but we knew this before we dined there. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to friends.
If you want basic Italian fare, there are many places to choose from. If you want a cut above the basic, try La Torretta
I was greatly disappointed in this visit. We came up with my in-laws and my 18-month-old daughter. The server was rude and never shared the specials and the owner was not as friendly or even receptive to talking to our table as he was with others around us. I feel we were being discriminated against because we had a small child even though she was well behaved (she is very good at restaurants and we also take her outside to entertain her during down times). The food was lackluster and I have had better Italian across the Phoenix area. I was disappointed in the price of the food the taste of the food and the service.
I too am from Chicago and found the food to be not to my liking. Will not return.
This is not the least expensive Italian restaurant in town, but the food quality is outstanding. The food style is closest to that of Florence. If you don't see what you want on the menu, and they have the ingredients, they will make it for you. More than likely you will go home with leftovers. Also, one of the few Italian places that actually serves vegetables with the entree.
Always consistent, getter pricey which maybe due to upcoming renovations which are needed.
It was unfortunate that two staff members had called in sick and the owner/manager and one other person were attending to the guest. This condition brought about a degree of lack of service under difficult conditions. Our visit was our anniversary which we were expecting the appropriate ambiance, conducive a more romantic setting.
I believe in second chances and we would probably visit, however not for romantic reasons.
Great food and service as always. Consistently a very good restaurant for Italian food.
Great pasta , my third time and it went from good to great , my daughter had chicken and eggplant it was cooked just right with just the right amount of seasonings. I grew up on pasta and this pasta and meat sauce was the best . Service was great and real
Probably the best Italian food I have in a while. Wish I remembered our servers name but he was fantastic. First time we dined here but certainly will not be the last. I had grouper special with crab raviolis. Awesome. My wife had a ravioli that was too much for her to eat. Lucky me , had it for lunch the next day. If our meal was an example of the food and service everyday do yourself a favor and put this place on your list next time your craving some great Italian food.
Been here many times and always had a great meal. You should definitely try this restaurant.
Excellent find among a sea of Italian restaurants in Scottsdale. How anyone could go to one of the two chains across the street with this here would just be wrong.
Everything was very good here -- portions, service, ambiance.
I was disappointed in how overly salty my chicken and sausage dish was. I mean really salty. My husband loved his very different approach to the lasagna, meat sauce made from prosciutto and veal. The limoncello tartufo dessert was fantastic.
We enjoyed the evening -- a little overpriced in my opinion.
Great Italian selections in addition to Pasta. The meat and vegetable selections brought back memories.
Amazing....never disappointed. Great food and great service.
The food is always excellent! Highly recommend La Torretta Ristorante!
Excellent Food! The service is always wonderful and the prices are quite fair. The portions are generous so go hungry. We have dined here many times and have NEVER been disappointed.
Food good large portions. Sun dried tomato oil sauce for bread was terrific
Great place. Super friendly staff and the bartender/owner always stops by my table to say hi and see how things are. Love this place!
Service was outstanding! Ask for Chaz
Food portions were very generous
Old school service and a place that still cares about the customer. Authentic Italian, large portions, and below average prices. Servers are attentive, go above and beyond, and will stray from the menu to cook you what you want. Top 1 or 2 Italian restaurant in Italian. Nothing fofo about it. Quality all around.
Tried La Torretta on a groupon...food was outstanding...we will definitely be back
This was an unexpected jewel! The service was fabulous, my sea bass was divine, and I'd for sure come back again.
The lasagna is the best I have had in Phoenix. The Chicken fra diavolo is delicious, also. The decor is dated, but fine for an old school Italian restaurant.
Our service was great, but the food is just so-so. Definitely not worth the prices they charge. Could definitely get the dishes we had, spaghetti bologenese and chicken rigatoni parmesan anywhere else for that quality, at half the cost. I might be a little bias having moved here from Chicago, home of all amazing food. But, I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some top notch Italian food.
Great and friendly service. Awesome food and portion is large.
Excellent as always. Our waiter was a character and his personality refreshing .
My friend and I were staying at a resort down the road for the weekend and came for some good Italian food. She had never been here, and I suggested the Eggplant Parmigiana that I'd had before. I got the Chicken Piccata and the lemon/caper sauce was tasty. They come with a mixed veggie side, and we both requested a substitution on the side pasta, Cappellini w/red sauce, rather than the ones noted on the menu. We were both pleased with our entrees, and as usual, the sauce for the bread is always a hit. Only negatives were that I'm not crazy about the bread rolls served before the meal, fresh and warm. They're not bad, just have had better Italian bread/rolls elsewhere. Also the red sauce needed more kick. Next time I'll order it spicy:-)
The best part was our server, Chaz, who was very attentive and waited on us patiently and efficiently. He had knowledge of the food and wine when we asked questions, and made sure we had a nice dining experience. Will request him next time I'm in.
*I see some reviews on Yelp blasting the furniture and atmosphere as being "old," and the food "outdated"? I am old, I guess, at 65, but don't look it, and I'm very young at heart. I love the "traditional" Italian dishes, the booths are quite comfy, murals and artwork are beautiful, and do enjoy the quiet, relaxing atmosphere where you can actually hear each other when you talk. Those are the things that make you feel like you are enjoying a good home-cooked Italian meal in a pleasant NY restaurant, like back in the day. They serve all the favorites, along with a plethora of other delicious choices, in a very extended menu, and creative daily specials. I guess Youngsters who want a hip, loud, crowded place, and food with a more modern twist need to go elsewhere :-)
Food, service and atmosphere were A+. Only complaint was large group at table behind us was quite loud!
