This quickly became a favorite for my friend and I to have dinner. This was our first brunch and it did not disappoint! Vincenzo (our server) is always amazing and hospitable. Natalina (the owner) is fantastic and invites us in to “her home” with a smile and warm greeting every time she sees us. It is clear this lovely place has a set of regulars (always a good sign) and is full of charm.
La Tomate did not disappoint. I had the best Caesar
Salad ever. My companions were also impressed with their appetizers: mixed greens for one and an arancino for another. Pasta dishes were impressive. We will be back for sure!
Unfortunately, the restaurant was not enjoyable because the inside was COLD - it was a cold and freezing day outside with cold wind and inside it was barely 67 or 68 degrees. So we had to keep our coats on. The food was greasy, the waiter was obviously new and had no idea (even didn't know of they had cappuccino after our lunch - the whole thing was so so.
We dine at LaTomate whenever we are in DC. It is small, the food is always great and it is quiet. Great for those with hearing aids!
So glad we found this place. We were visiting from WV and were going to some of the attractions around the restaurant. It popped up in our query and was so wonderful the first time, that we've gone back this time.
Great place to meet up with friends. Wonderful time sharing vino and rigatoni pasta made perfectly. One friend had the pork disk which was excellent!
Both the experience and the food were amazing! Authentic Italian food and great wine selection. Highly recommend!
Great service and the food was delicious
Amazing, 5 star restaurant. Provided free dessert tiramisu for birthday and complimentary limoncello. Completely perfect proportion. Felt perfectly full after even though it may seem small at first. Service was outstanding and the patio was amazing. Definitely recommend and is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Ravioli was the best.
I have had consistently good food at La Tomate, but last night had one of the best dinners I have had anywhere in DC, better than several of the most highly rated restaurants in this city. Many thanks to all involved.
Great ambience! They gave me free refill of coffee :)
Great food great price. We really enjoyed and will be back.
La Tomate is a great neighborhood restaraunt. I love the food, good wine list and lovely atmosphere.
We enjoyed everything about this establishment -everything!
We thoroughly enjoyed our picks from the extensive menu and appreciated the attentive, but not overbearing service. A nice restaurant with the feel of home.
Everything we ordered was delicious—-burata/arugula salad and pasta so good. Service attentive and excellent.
It was terrible. 3 cockroaches climbing everywhere from the floor to the wall. Food was bland and the service was terrible. Our waiter had an attitude and was visibly annoyed. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Big waist of Money!
Staffs were very courteous and accommodating! A pleasure! Food was great! I had the bronZino. Great location! Indoors or out. Service was excellent !
Great appetizers and exquisite desserts. Main course was delightful. A great dining experience.
Excellent food. Very much on the authentic Italian
side versus Italian American so quality is high
Food was amazing as always!
Food was terrific, and so was the service, but did take a while to receive our main course once salads were finished. But the food was really good.
Server was short and particular. Potentially they were short staffed this night. I’ve gotten larger better quality portions for less and less sass.
Outside seating was lovely with very good service.
Usual high quality. We chose to dine outside because my guest was bribing his dog. Weather turned out to be unpleasantly windy, but didn't really detract from the experience.
Had no problems. Waiter was nice and food was good and drinks was good.
Such good food and service. Not huge portions that many americans seem to expect but more than ample. We will come back.
Great atmosphere, food and caring staff! Thanks for a lovely night.
This was a truly inspired meal. Every aspect of the food was just outstanding. I read about complaints on the service -- and having been disappointed at other places recently, I don't agree. They had good service, and knowing how hard it is to get good wait staff, not the case at La Tomate. We will return
The food was outstanding, including home made ravioli, grilled branzino and gelato for dessert. The patio setting is charming and so nice that it is on the quiet side, fronting on 20th street instead of on Connecticut Ave. The service was superb.
I love the atmosphere, the food and the service
The food is excellent.
Great start to weekend. Negroni is prepared perfectly! A Must. Started with mixed salads and dinner was outstanding salmon and pasta bolognese ! Great staff!
I went here on a date night with my partner. We already had tickets for a movie after dinner and it took about an hour between ordering and getting our entrees. But for this delay, I would have given 5 stars.
Eating outside at Le Tomate whilst safest in these uncertain times, wasn't the best choice on my part as the outside dining area is surrounded by very busy downtown D.C. traffic. Very difficult to hear one another (3 of us) without raising our voices. If I'm feeling braver, next time I come, I'll sit inside.
The food from the Prosciutto bar meats and cheeses for antipasti, to the ravioli were all delicious. Perfectly seasoned so you can taste all the ingredients. The apple crostata dessert was marred by a stale-tasting crust that was soggy. Otherwise a good meal.
Terrific evening. Food was wonderful. Service and ambience great. Lovely evening out on the patio.
Excellent seafood pasta! The outdoor seating was perfect on aan early Fall day.
They brought us a free tiramisu for a friends birthday! great service, better food, la tomate is for you.
Excellent food, wine, service and atmosphere! Lives up to its reputation. Gluten free friendly was a big plus for me! I’d definitely come back here again.
Went for a quick drink and light dinner with a friend for the night. Very quick service, probably the best caesar salad I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes.
