The food was good but the restaurant was extremely cold. Asked the staff about heat level and I was told it was due to large amount of windows. The staff was dressed with jackets to keep warm. We probably won’t go back again in the winter. It’s not a nice experience to eat in a cold environment. Sister restaurant next door, La Dolce Vita, appeared to have plenty of heat notwithstanding all the glass windows it has. As you can surmise from my previous comments, eating in a cold restaurant in the winter is one of my pet pieces.
Go for the view. Food was average. Pasta undercooked and pizza undersauced. Everything the other reviews say about staffing is spot on. Waitress was nice but food delivery was erratic from table to table. Had to ask multiple times for water but no problem get refills on drinks that we paid for.
Went with a large group. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived. Services was excellent and everything we ordered was delicious. Will definitely be back.
A poor wait staff can spoil a good meal. La Terrazza has great potential, ocean-facing views, good pizza, and a reasonably priced Italian menu. Service is horrific, perhaps it was the waitress that took care of our table, and the same waitress took care of two neighboring tables, both with similar bad service. From her description of a very specific Italian sauce: "It some kind of tomato sauce", to explaining why our appetizers arrived at the same time as our entree: "We're pretty busy tonight", we knew that we were off to a bad start. We never received bread (the other tables seemed to get that, at least), and we witnessed much confusion as tables were cleaned to await the line of diners who were trying to get in.
The food was good, so the kitchen gets a good review, the eggplant part tower was as good as any I've had before.
There needs to be some organization of the service at LaTerrazza. It did seem that there was a "manager" in charge, since the neighboring table demanded to speak with him. I witnessed our waitress cleaning tables, refilling water and cutting and preparing bread baskets for the tables (not ours, unfortunately). More attention to the orders that were being served may have redeemed her, and our dinner. Our waitress did comp our dessert items, she knew that she had screwed up. Normally, I'd tell her that it wasn't necessary, but I gladly accepted after our dinner disaster.
We have always loved this restaurant but won't be back any time soon. Our entrees were brought out before our apps and had to be returned and had to wait very long for the app. We had to ask for the bread halfway through meal bc they forgot it. Wait staff was inattentive to our needs and our expectation was they would have made up for mishaps by comping one of our drinks. Needless to say there was no recognition for all that went wrong. Service is just important as the food!
Food was good. It was raining so we couldn't sit on terrace and overlook ocean. Inside was hot and humid as it is an "open air" restaurant. Food was good Italian.
Recommend pizza not pasta. Ordered 'homemade' pasta confirmed by our waiter that was box pasta. Garlic allergy stated & dish arrived with a ton of garlic, not as requested. Waiter either had no clue or didn't care. He never checked back to see how things were or if we needed anything. Nice location but order what they know- pizza.
We were a party of six, one of us ordered a pizza for dinner. The pizza came out but no dinners. By the time we got our dinners the pizza was almost finished. Need to serve everyone at the table at the same time - Need to do a better job on their timing. Friendly Waitress, but had to be reminded about bringing over things requested. Food was all delicious and well prepared.
Simple Italian menu with all the basics. Pizza, Pasta and shrimp, chicken or veal as you like it. Good salads and excellent calamari (a good way to tell fi the rest of the food is good.) Cocktails as specially good, mango mohito and the cucumber Collins. Patio dining on Ocean Ave.
Everything was wonderful other than it is tough to have a conversation with others when eating inside due to noise level.
Food was fantastic!!
Really enjoyed but we dined inside and found it very noisy.
Service was slow, food was just ok
The kind, if inexperienced, service was the only thing to save our visit. The food is below average, there was garbage under our table and on the sidewalk in front of us, our entrees came out about 3 minutes after we received our salads, my Diet Coke was flat, my rigatonii bolognese had no taste, the Caesar salad dressing was out of a bottle. The bread was good! Crusty and hot from the oven. $85 with tip for this (no alcohol). Pathetic. We didn't think we should penalize the server. Needs help fast.
Went in for dinner during the week. Loud music, Loud bar, waitress didnt know the menu, never asked us if we wanted more drinks, no bread had to ask another wait staff for it. Dinner was ok. not cheap... Waitress more interested in looking on her phone than serving customer. never again. Go someplace else.
Love the food but found it too noisy with the live music while trying to have conversations during dinner. Way too loud!
Great service...everbody was attentive and the food was great!
We were seated (3 women) and not given a menu for a really long time. Actually we didn't know who our waitperson was. I've eaten here before while visiting this area and have been quite pleased but not this time.
Chicken parm was dry. The waitress was sweet and helpful. I don't enjoy paying $30+/pp and eating dinner on plastic plates!
If I return it will be for pizza and cocktails. I feel as though they have downgraded a bit.
We went to listen to the Reggae Music by Smokey Starr. We will be there again on another Friday evening to listen and dance to the music!
Food was hot and very tasty. Authentic Italian. Waitress service needs improvement
They were likely caught off guard by how busy it was due to the nice weather. But the wait for service was unacceptable. We saw our waitress once in the first hour. We received our appetizers but waited forever for dinner which only showed up for 2 of 4 people. These were two personal size pizzas with a cooked and warmed crust but the cheese on top was essentially raw. We finally had to go find a manager to ask them to cancel the two other dinners and give us our check. Not a good experience.
We went for restaurant week. The food was excellent. Our only issue was with service. It was very slow but they were also having a party so maybe that was why.
Made reservation on open table 4 days beforehand & when I got there was told only outdoor seating was available. Was very cold in April no outside heaters on would have left but was there because of restaurant week. Food was average & drink very watered down. Hostess was rude. Only friends of owner were getting seated inside & they had a party going on in one room. Do not plan to return
The food was very good. The servers were nice but inattentive.
We were looking forward to dining here as we had good experiences at La Dolce Vita next door. What a disappointment. Good thing we had a coupon! There was no taste to any of the three meals that were ordered. The service was lackadaisical. The waiter was dressed sloppily. He was trying to remove dishes while we were still eating from them. We will not be returning to this establishment.
The food was good. The service much less so. Very inattentive. I've been here before and ate inside and it seemed much better. This night we were seated outside. Lesson learned.
We sat outside on a beautiful night across the street from the ocean. The menu was wonderful, food was great. Service was a little slow, probably because we were outside & the waiter threw out my dish that I asked to have wrapped. Other than that, I would highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of the food.
Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. We were seated outside on a lovely evening and really enjoyed our meals.
Food is really good although the pizza took a lot longer than dinner to arrive. Casual setting. I will definitely go back.
Food and live entertainment were very good. Have outside dining area facing the ocean, however, since it was raining, had to dine inside. Noise level was quite loud, but had a nice dinner.
Very nice spot for outdoor dining that we've been to several times. We especially enjoy the octopus appetizer. Our server was attentive up until the point that we were ready to pay the bill. Then she disappeared completely. (This seems to be a common occurrence at many establishments that I don't understand. When we're finished eating, we're ready to pay and go.) Eventually, we handed the credit card off to another staff member.
My only complaint about this restaurant and its related establishment, La Dolce Vita, is that
we usually still have a short wait for a table even though we have made a reservation.
