It's a tapas place so come prepared for super small portions, which are outrageously over-priced. It was beyond loud, had to yell to be heard by the person sitting next to me. The service was excruciatingly slow. The churrasco was nothing to write home about. Only good things were the lentil soup, shrimp avocado salad, bistec, and croquetas - the rest was okay, but not worth the price. They're lucky the restaurant sits right by Capital One, honestly that would be my only reason for coming back.
This was second visit. The last was in 2016. Both times were wonderful. The food is delicious, presented nicely and the portions are perfect. My favorite item is the tortilla de patatas and my favorite sangria is the traditional. I will be back the next time I come to DC.
Great food and great place to go to before a concert
Food was amazing. Mango sangria was awesome. Service was great.
They could t find out Open Table reservation(?) but they seated us immediately. We were late to a mix up in directions. Popular traditional selections like empanadas, dates/bacon, asparagus were delicious. Rushing to get to a concert at Cap Center so quick dinner. Service understood and was excellent. We will return!
For remains at high quality, drinks very good, service pretty good for a packed house. But the DIN was close to unbearable. Literally had to shout to have companion hear me.
Awful! It took 1.5 hours to get three tapas, we were late for a show at Capital One Arena, and the food was cold and dry. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Showed up and they didn’t have us down for a reservation and when I showed them my reservation confirmation on my phone the hostess found us a table. Once we were sitting took our waitress 15-20 minutes to be greeted and we ended up ordering everything bar drinks to our food. Took forever to get our drinks 20 minutes and awhile longer for our food. It was good besides all the waiting around and no reservation when we showed up.
The food was great, however it seemed like they only had one server assigned to basically the entire floor; it was nearly impossible to get her attention because she was trying to keep up with too many tables.
If you go on a Saturday night be prepared for a very loud environment which made dinner conversation at our table almost impossible
The variety of sangria and tapas were fabulous. Will definitely visit again.
Authentic, delicious fresh food, great value. Ambiance is also authentic.
Service is nice, yet has room for improvement. They may need to be more attentive on what patrons may need. Just by keeping an eye on their tables, slowing down a bit and making eye contact with their patrons, they could ID if clients need anything.
Went there for my graduation dinner! Great time, I had a large party and the accommodated so well!
Menu was very limited. We found the value for the amount of food was not great. The restaurant is very noisy. We probably will not be back.
Enjoyable evening on all counts!
I came to your penn quarter location tonight and was extremely disappointed. I’ve been to this restaurant at least a dozen times and after tonight it’s been made clear that your place is going down hill. First issue: you are suddenly charging people for water. That’s so incredibly cheap. The water tasted like it was tap water. Why would you charge for that? The fried calamari was cold. Cold seafood makes me question if it was cooked all the way. That’s disgusting and dangerous. The wait staff sucked. I was still drinking my sangria and water and the waiter tried to take it away. Also, one person in our party got up to go to the washroom and the waiter used the sangria pitcher to fill up every glass but skipped the girl who had gone to the bathroom. That’s rude. There are plenty of great sangria/tapas places in the city that are way better than this restaurant. I’m not sure why you think the way your restaurant is run is acceptable if you want to stay in business. I will never be returning here and will never recommend your restaurant ever again. It’ll be interesting to see how much longer your penn quarter location continues to exist.
Both our food and our server were terrific!
We took mom to LaTasca for Mother's Day. Everything was great! We ended up getting the party sampler where you can try lots of different tapas... it wad a hit! The food is absolutely great!
I have eaten here many times before and it was always good. This time it was poor. The lamb chops where overcooked, the sauce was bland. The Spanish Tortilla was all potato.
Always love this location. Sylvia was fabulous.
I really enjoy La Tasca for casual, but very good food. Happy hour is great!
La Tasca was absolutely delicious! The sangria brunch is a great deal and the sangria and food are delicious. Our waitress Sylvia was wonderful! She was extremely nice and attentive. Overall a great place to hang out, enjoy food, sangria, and receive excellent service. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and cannot wait to go back and request Sylvia.
Good, reliable food. Good value for the money considering location. Server interrupting conversation much too often to ask how we are doing. Also, we specifically requested to take their time and not rush us, yet all of the food was on the table within 15 minutes from ordering. Clearly keeping a table occupied for more than 1-1.5 hours is strongly discouraged.
Food was really good. Service was good but the sangria was very weak. I have been there two times before and never had that problem.
Absolutely loved La Tasca! My boyfriend and I came here for brunch and we both thought the food was amazing. We were originally concerned that the tapas wouldn't be filling, but we were both full before our last plate came out. The servings are very generous. We had the empanadas, the croquettes, and the steak. All very good! The sangria was also really good and it sneaks up on you. Our server was very attentive and kept coming with refills throughout our time there. Great experience, I can't wait to go back!
Great place. I used to live in Manchester UK and I first came across La Tasca there. When I moved to DC I was thinking it can't be the same one, but it is. Brought back good memories. Nice place, good food. Thanks!
The food is good, the service is fast, it's a great place to fuel up before a Caps game
Went to La Tasca for the first time before a Caps game. Loaded with Caps fans getting ready for the game. Server was great. Restaurant was really full due to game and once we had our order ready he hurried and got it in right away. We did the Pre-Game special - pitcher of sangria and 4 tapas from a special menu - $45. Plenty of food for 2 people. Pre-Game menu had a smaller selection than regular menu (which you can still order from) but had plenty to choose from. Veggies, meats, cheeses. Very good selection. Really enjoyed the dinner and it is extremely convenient for the Capital One Arena. Will definitely go back.
The ambiance and food are great! One of the items we had were different skewers and 4 out of the 5 were great, but the one with the shrimp were not worth the price. The shrimp were “very, very” small so I wouldn’t order them again. We will return to LaTasca again and try something different.
Overpriced, but the quality of the food was very good. Service was great. Location to the Verizon Center (or whatever it is now named) is outstanding. My third visit to this restaurant, and, while not my favorite in the area, one I will likely return to in the future for a change of pace.
Everything was great. We didn’t know that Happy Hour was only at the bar area but they were more than willing to accommodate our party.
Wonderful eatery, good food, fast service. I appreciated the bacon wrapped dates, as well as the wonderful selection of chorizo.
We went for Happy Hour and ordered the Individual Paella Marinera, Albondigas de Corder, Calamares Fritos and Croquetas de la Casa. The service was extremely friendly, and we devoured all the food - everything was so good! However, our bill for 2 people racked up to about $45, so please don’t go to La Tasca when you’re broke...
The service was horrible, and surprisingly got worse as the rush died down. We will never come here again.
The only reason that I rated it a 4 and not a 5 is that the restaurant is looking a little worn and there are no restrooms on the main floor
Nice pre-game meal before a playoff hockey game. Special was a good value
Great unlimited tapas lunch. It was dinner too!!!!
Food is great, service not so great. They lack organization in the dishes they bring you. You HAVE to leave a tip apparently, big tip.
I brought my husband here for his birthday for a nice unlimited sangria brunch. The sangrias were all amazing and so was the food. The waiter did get one of our Tapa’s wrong, but we still ate it. He offered to bring out the one we ordered, but we were already full from the 6 we had. We will definitely be back.
