La Tasca - Alexandria
Enjoy unlimited tapas 4pm-close Thursday-Sunday for $39, some restrictions do apply.
My group of four had a marvelous Sunday brunch at La Tasca! I went for the three brunch tapas plus a $3 Sangria Blanca...everything was yummy and portions were ample. My friends went for the lunch tapas and all I heard were "Yum" and "Oh so happy" and "this is delicious". So...don't miss out!
This was my first time at this restaurant, I was in the area for business and felt the craving for some Spanish Paella which is how I found La Tasca. Small very quint restaurant located in downtown Alexandria was very nice to visit, but unfortunately for me, they no longer make personal sized Paella meals! Any order of Paella is now only available for 2 or more guests, very sad! So I was forced to order several individual Tapas bar samples in order to make up a sizable dinner, final cost $60+, Paella for two = $34.00, needless to say it's not very cost effective to order Tapas unless your with a group and can share the cost of several dishes. Unfortunately I won't be visiting La Tasca again unless I'm with a group of friends or clients, this is not a restaurant for individual meals!
We always enjoy La Tasca - great food and great service! This is a go-to place for us in Alexandria.
Great food & service
Paella was a little pricey for the portions received
freakin unlimited tapas! they were all so
good! get some mango sangria too!
Our second visit and we have the same problem with the service. Some plates were very very late and some of us had drinks and others had to wait for a long time too.
Fun date night!
The place is an afterthought of what the Rockville and the past Gallery place were. The looks are so opposite to what we know about La Tasca and the food was definitely at a lower grade in comparison to the Rockville location. The service was also severely lacking: the server definitely didn’t want to work that day, the food was served in a pool of grease and the paella rice was undercooked, even though the seafood was cooked ok. It is sad since La Tasca has been an icon of celebratory dinners with my wife.
My partner and I paid for the unlimited tapas for 45.99 each at this location and the first two dishes that came out were delicious, but every dish after that tasted worse and worse. By the time our last four dishes arrived we both took a bite of each and decided we were done. We were served under cooked mussels, cold food that was meant to be hot, and over cooked salmon. Luckily the atmosphere and our lovely waitress made the experience not completely awful.
All you can eat Tapas is hard to beat. My date and I have differing tastes, so it was perfect for trying a few things, trying one another’s dishes, and still making sure to get the favorites (double order of meatballs!).
The scallops were a great surprise. Expected good and found them to be fantastic-perfect blend of sweet and savory without drowning the scallop flavor at the center.
Absolutely LOVE La Tasca! We recently moved to the DC area from NY and we were really worried about finding great restaurants. This one is fantastic S. American food! We LOVE the food because it's super clean and high caliber, we LOVE the waitstaff, (I think we've had ALL of them, We Love the female Maitre D' is one of our favorites; she's young, smart and friendly! And the Sangria is to die for and it's very reasonably priced! Can't ask for more!
Quite pricey compared to most tapas places around the dc area. The portions were okay. Service was good.
As always the food was great! Service was very good, quick and attentive. I love their brunch offering. Very reasonable and the Sangria is always refreshing! Will be returning soon!
We went there on a Sunday night during Restaurant week and had unlimited tapas. Everything we tried was excellent and our waitress was very helpful with recommendations. I have a gluten allergy and the restaurant had a wide variety of items that I could eat. Can't wait to come back!
Great night out! Food was delicious. Unlimited tapas let us all try lots of new things!
As always, our experience was amazing! From the great service, to the phenomenal food, to the delicious drinks! I can't wait to go back!
Great as always! Good selection for Restaurant Week
We went for all you can eat tapas. It was totally swamped and they were understaffed. Through no fault of our waitress it took 2 hours to get 4 tapas and they were missing ingredients or cold.
We had a wonderful evening, the food was delicious, and the service outstanding!
Went for restaurant week. Had all you could eat tapas and a few glasses of sangria. It was all very good, including service. A bit loud for me but not too bad. Would recommend.
Nice restaurant. Service is prompt, attentive and very courteous. Food was appetizing. I would recommend this restaurant.
Restaurant was dead on a Sunday afternoon. Host spilled water all over our table. Never replaced silverware. Slow service on a slow day. Forgot various entrees.
Restaurant needs more servers. Food and drinks took longer than expected. But must say food was delicious.
We've been here many times over the years and keep coming back because the food is great. My hubby and I love the unlimited tapas they offer Sun-thurs. It's a great value and a great way to try different things on the menu. The recent renovation is nice but I personally prefer the original decor. Definitely a great option for date night. We were recently there on New Years Day and there were two noisy tables with lots of children. This is not a children's restaurant and thankfully they left soon after we arrived so we could enjoy our meal in peace and quiet.
I am not one to leave reviews at all but this was extremely disappointing. I had been before and love it so we decided to go for NYE. Even asking multiple times in advance (and over the phone) if there was a specific menu pricing we were surprised that itwas $99 a person. This included one glass of their cheapest cava, NYE party favors and unlimited tapas. Figured at least the food would be good and worth the surprise price. It was not. Half of the most traditional Spanish tapas were not included. Our server didn’t even come over for 45 to offer beverages and then the service continued to be extremely slow. The place wasn’t even packed which was odd. Finally we (a party of two) were charged a 25% gratuity. Our whole bill came out to be $230-something (with tax). The whole experience wasn’t worth half of that. On top of it all, we couldn’t even just leave because they would have charged us $58 per person on our card that was held for the reservation, and if we left they would have considered us a ‘no show’.
Terrible experience. Well, the empanadas were decent. Luckily a new tapas restaurant has opened near by!
Rather expensive charge ($99 a person) for what sounded like it could be fun New Year’s Eve. The advertisement offered endless tapas and live music (only one drink included, for the toast), in a “by reservation only” venue. While the food and the ambiance were good, the service was slow, the bar was crowded by non-dining customers, the live band proved to be a single DJ, and in addition to a mandatory 20% gratuity, we were charged $40 for the two drinks we ordered. Will definitely not do this again.
We went for dinner on NYE before heading to our party. The restaurant had a NYE deal and special menu but we were unaware that anyone that made a reservation for dinner was expected to purchase the unlimited plate deal they had which was $99 per person and you could stay there til midnight. The manager understood and let us just pay for what we were going to order and not do the unlimited since we wouldn’t be staying. Our waiter kept ignoring us. The rest of my party didn’t even eat because by the time we flagged someone down( we were in a corner upstairs) we needed to pay and get to our party. They never brought out 2 of our plates and my chicken skewers were raw in the middle 🤢 I was disgusted after that and didn’t eat anything else. When the waiter finally appeared and I showed him the chicken he just make a “yikes” face and and wrote something down and said he would take it off the bill..... then we had to get him to take all the missing items off the bill and we RAN out of there. I had been here before and had a great experience, it was disappointing that I bought my group here and it was so bad. We knew they were busy, completely understandable. But there was a select, smaller menu to help the kitchen staff, the restaurant knows how many they are expecting, the restaurant seemed unprepared for their evening where they were expecting “400 people” . And I feel bad for the people that paid $99 each for unlimited food until midnight and just spent and hour waiting for their first plates🤦🏻♀️
Will not return.
Nice place to relax and enjoy good food
Food was delicious but very expensive for lunch! The small plates were filling.
W alive la Tasca and come back often. We have a 9 month old son and they are always so sweet and considerate of him. Wonderful food and the service is second to none. Recommend for brunch, lunch or dinner!!
The food was OK but I was expecting a better ambiance and quality.
Food was delicious! We made the mistake of not clarifying that we wanted the unlimited tapas, and ended up unknowingly ordering some items that were not on the unlimited. Had we known, we would not have ordered them. The pitchers of sangria are also very watered down, and lots of ice. Would not recommend getting the pitcher. Overall, great place though.
Absolutely wonderful! We did All-You-Can-Eat. The service was great.
Excellent food and service. We will definitely dine here again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We were sat promptly and our waiter came right up to greet us and take out order. Our waiter was amazing - gave us suggestions, asked us questions to help guide us in what we might like. Our table did the unlimited tapas (wonderful choice) and so our waited brought out dishes for us to try that he thought would enhance our dining experience (and it did!) on top of what we ordered. He definitely added to the whole experience - we tried tapas we might not have thought to order otherwise and loved it. He was so very thoughtful. The food was simply delicious. Tapas were a new experience for a member of our party and she was thrilled with the food, the experience. I think we may have been on the early side (7pm) for the music and I would have enjoyed that as well - next time. Otherwise, the place had a nice atmosphere, moderately busy but not so busy you couldn't hold a conversation and still hear. Excellent - would definitely recommend and come back again.
Lob, love, love this place. Tastes like Spain! Very authentic and staff the best!!
The food was delicious. I had called and set up a birthday acknowledgment/dessert but never received it. The waitress spilled a lot of out sangria on the table (from the pitcher)...you’d think she’d bring us a free glass considering how much spilled. She wasn’t very friendly....and when she split up the paella, the third/last person’s plate had no muscles or shrimp...really needs to learn how to split that up.
We went on a Thursday at 5:30 and the place was empty. Our waitress was rude and rushed us. If we were there for 45 minutes it was a long time. We barely sat down and she asked what we wanted to eat. The food is extremely salty. We ordered the fried calamari and the lamb skewers. The calamari was so salty neither one of us could enjoy it , and to receive two little skewers with six nickel-sized pieces of lamb for $13 was a bit much. I will never go back I would never recommend this place.
New modern decor distracts, no flamenco show anymore. We felt rushed by service staff
the only reasons I didn't give it a 5 overall was that we waited a LONG time for everything, dessert included. wait staff was generally very nice, just very slow service. perhaps they were out a few people in the kitchen, and food was AMAZING. everything we got was fantastic. I will definitely go again!
