My group of four had a marvelous Sunday brunch at La Tasca! I went for the three brunch tapas plus a $3 Sangria Blanca...everything was yummy and portions were ample. My friends went for the lunch tapas and all I heard were "Yum" and "Oh so happy" and "this is delicious". So...don't miss out!

This was my first time at this restaurant, I was in the area for business and felt the craving for some Spanish Paella which is how I found La Tasca. Small very quint restaurant located in downtown Alexandria was very nice to visit, but unfortunately for me, they no longer make personal sized Paella meals! Any order of Paella is now only available for 2 or more guests, very sad! So I was forced to order several individual Tapas bar samples in order to make up a sizable dinner, final cost $60+, Paella for two = $34.00, needless to say it's not very cost effective to order Tapas unless your with a group and can share the cost of several dishes. Unfortunately I won't be visiting La Tasca again unless I'm with a group of friends or clients, this is not a restaurant for individual meals!

Our second visit and we have the same problem with the service. Some plates were very very late and some of us had drinks and others had to wait for a long time too.

The place is an afterthought of what the Rockville and the past Gallery place were. The looks are so opposite to what we know about La Tasca and the food was definitely at a lower grade in comparison to the Rockville location. The service was also severely lacking: the server definitely didn’t want to work that day, the food was served in a pool of grease and the paella rice was undercooked, even though the seafood was cooked ok. It is sad since La Tasca has been an icon of celebratory dinners with my wife.

My partner and I paid for the unlimited tapas for 45.99 each at this location and the first two dishes that came out were delicious, but every dish after that tasted worse and worse. By the time our last four dishes arrived we both took a bite of each and decided we were done. We were served under cooked mussels, cold food that was meant to be hot, and over cooked salmon. Luckily the atmosphere and our lovely waitress made the experience not completely awful.

All you can eat Tapas is hard to beat. My date and I have differing tastes, so it was perfect for trying a few things, trying one another’s dishes, and still making sure to get the favorites (double order of meatballs!). The scallops were a great surprise. Expected good and found them to be fantastic-perfect blend of sweet and savory without drowning the scallop flavor at the center.
