Amazing Paellas and shrimp garlic sauce. Everything is great at this restaurant
This restaurant has top notch service. However, we ordered tapas that were heavy and not up to past eating experiences at other restaurants. The desserts were good. It is expensive and the food should be better.
Wonderful atmosphere. The host always makes me feel extra special. The Executive Lunch is excellent: feast for the eyes as well as delicious!
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food and the very best attentive service. One of my favorites of all time.
Service was first class and the food was exquisite.
Great food and wine. Awesome spanish cuisine and and knowledgeable waitstaff. Appropriate wine pairings!
Exquisite food, beautifully served. You can't miss here.
The taps are culinarily creative and well portion to share. The lobster paella was delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked. Cracking open the lobster was our only struggle.
One word—-fabulous!!! First class service. Beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Food to die for. Try the Black Mojito.
My colleague and I tried Taberna's "Executive Menu" which changes weekly. It's a three-course lunch for only $32. Amazing food, amazing value. I ordered Salmon Papillote, my lunch guest tried the sautéed quinoa with asparagus(topped with a soft boiled egg). Both were fantastic. We both started with an arugula and peach salad with burraravand lychee. A very delicious, fresh and creative salad. The meal finished with a traditional Spanish coconut curd (custard).
I cannot recommend Taberna any higher. It is such a treat. Formal service, lovely dining room, large windows with lots of natural light.
This was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. We told the restaurant and they prepared a special, romantic table in a quiet corner of the room. It was lovely. The food was delicious - we shared a selection of appetizers, tapas, and mains. The wine we chose (a Rioja that was being featured) was outstanding and paired well with our food. As ever, the service was wonderfully attentive without being intrusive. It was truly a special occasion. We've been several times and will return.
Had their five course tasting menu with wine pairings. Absolutely superb!!
Excellent service and authentic Spanish Tapas and Main Entrees.
Décor, cuisine and service are typical of the best restaurants in Spain.
Will return soon.
Pricey, but worth it because the food, service and ambiance really were very good.
Very nice ambiance. Staff was very attentive and hospitable. Food was great!
Best sangria in DC! Delicious tapas and impeccable service. Another wonderful evening at Taberna.
Awesome dining experience.
Food was good but the service was deplorable!
Beautiful restaurant. Food was just ok. $84 for paella is outrageous. Not flavorful at all. Rice was overdone, for sure. Appetizers and Desserts equally average. Disappointing for $300.
Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and flamingo dancing. Meal was fabulous.
My first dinner in DC. I was very impressed. It was very good experiences.
Food delicious, service, very friendly, wine? Very good variety from 🇪🇸. Good for any reason!!!
We went for a special flamenco dance event at the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, the service excellent and the show was amazing. Love the staff. We've been going to this restaurant for more than 10 years and it remains special to us to this day.
This place is such a gem! I went with friends on a Saturday night for the flamenco show they have occasionally and it was AMAZING! The service is impeccable, the ambiance is perfect and the food is delicious. Very authentic Spanish tapas and paella. I had the octopus, croquetas and jamón con queso manchego. Excelente!!!! I plan on returning very soon for another show. Must see in DC. Encantada y enamorada!!
Great restaurant. Very comfortable and warm. Food was excellent.
Un magnífico lugar con muy buena atención. La oferta de vinos de Jerez es superior a la de la inmensa mayoría de restaurantes, altamente recomendable.
We had a great dinner here, a fantastic menus with tapas as well as appetizers, salads, and mains. The calamari tapa was excellent, crispy and hot. I enjoyed the cod confit appetizer, especially the tapenade served with. We shared an order of the cuttlefish with rice and mushrooms; earthy with lots of mushrooms, but unfortunately the cuttlefish seemed lost in the rice, and it was quite salty. Dessert bunuelos offered redemption, don’t resist. Service very splendid, on the formal/European side but very perfect. We even got a sherry tasting flight for free due to the salty rice. I very much appreciated the generosity.
My wife and I have enjoyed La Taberna del Alabardero over the years, and have always been impressed. We just celebrated Valentines Day, and ordered of the menu (not fixed fare). The salad was delicious, the squid-in paella amazing, and the red wine perfect. The waiter and entire staff were, as usual, very respectful, knowledgeable, and knew when to arrive and when to leave us alone -- altogether another great evening!
Taberna del Alabardero is always an amazing culinary experience. The long-serving staff was on point, catering to every need in an expeditious manner. The food was delicious as always, the sangria was exactly the way we like it, and the ambience was ideal. Kudos to continue great quality and service - 28 years for me and still going strong.
The restaurant is quiet enough for conversation, and the decor is very attractive. The service is attentive. Those are the positive aspects of our visit for a special occasion. However, the cocktail was insipid and overpriced. A major disappointment to spend $15 for a watery beverage with two raw pieces of apple on a cocktail stick. The entree was okay, but overpriced. The vegetables were laughably tiny in portion (a carrot morsel and some other bland root vegetable). The dessert (figs covered with chocolate sauce) was flavorless. All in all, the meal was too expensive given its mediocrity.
I love La Taberna del Alabardero. It's my 'go to' place for Spanish cuisine as authentic as it gets. The wine list is superb, which makes the food even better. My highest recommendation!
This longtime favorite never disappoints. Taberna is such a special place - you feel like you've walked into a restaurant in Madrid. Service is impeccable. Lunch menu is expansive with lots of variety. This is the place to go for traditional Spanish food and it is the best.
The best value menu for the restaurant week! Authentic Spanish food!
The food was delicious. The tapas were delectable and the paella absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable. My friends and I are already making plans to return.
I love this restaurant- tasty, beautifully presented food and wonderful service each time.
The tapas here were very good, but the entrees, especially the paella, need some work.
Other than my husband invited his friend to join us last minute on our special anniversary lunch, it was nice. They were accommodating of our extra person. The rose petals and card were such a nice touch even with the awkward third person. :)
Delightful. Tasty. Sumptuous. We chose the restaurant week menu. Three Tapas, Paella, and Deserts. Each dish proved to be a stand-alone delight. The bread at the start is exceptional. Then, the Gambas Al Alijo, simmering hot with the garlic, the patatas bravas well done(could have used a bit more sauce) and the peppers filled with goat cheese. To top it the Paella Valenciana!! rabbit and chicken morsels tossed in with charred artichokes, blending the sauce and rice to satiate your senses. And then, triple desert in the form of a gelatinous tiramisu, a rice puddingish type confection, and the last one I can remember as it went down in a gulp!!
Friendly staff, great wine and food, most customers were speaking Spanish
