They provided the best dining experience I have ever had.
Always fantastic. One of my favorite spots in DC for after-work and/or special occasions. Great service and great food.
My husband and I treated our friends to a congratulatory dinner to celebrate their recent engagement. When I booked the reservation I requested a table by the window and let them know that we were celebrating an engagement. What a beautiful surprise awaited us when we arrived! The table was strewn with rose petals and we were greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. At the end of a fantastic meal the couple was given a beautifully displayed complimentary dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable evening. We will definitely be back!
Thank you for such a warm welcome. The service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and the food was delicious.
Beautiful restaurant with exceptional service. You are put at ease in a very relaxed atmosphere, yet the wait staff could not have been more attentive. Menu options were broad enough to accommodate everyone's varied taste and portions were more than adequate. And the Sangria was great!
The service was excellent! It was our anniversary and they treated us like royalty!
Great food and exceptional service!
Food was outstanding and service was impeccable. Our server Alejandro was on top of everything. We had a great meal!
Nice return to my old haunts. It was a special night and the staff made it so.
Extremely disappointed, as I have had good lunches here a number of times. Razor clams were chewy, gritty and contained a worm. Do not order the paella...stodgy, over salted and with minimal seafood. At a cost of $42 person, this is a rip off.
A longtime favorite of mine, Taberna serves up nifty Spanish dishes with verve and aplomb. Hugo, our waiter, was at the top of his game. The meal, the wine and the atmosphere combined gave us the feeling that we were enjoying an afternoon in Madrid.
My first visit, and I was thoroughly impressed. Restaurant Week choices were top of of the line and beautifully prepared. The R.W. wine list was likewise excellent and very reasonable. I will return.
This was our 4th visit to the restaurant in the past 2 years. Unfortunately it was the most disappointing of all the visits. I don’t know what happened?! But the food is very much different and was not exciting or flavorful. On top of that the waiter seemed very much annoyed when didn’t order wine. I don’t understand this negative attitude towards customer who don’t drink alcohol. Don’t restaurants and their staff consider that some of us have to drive and are responsible people, or that some of us don’t drink for religious reasons. This will be my last visit, unless we hear some dramatic news about a change of chef and improved food.
What sets Taverna apart from virtually every other restaurant we have visited is the service - they make us feel like royalty - helpful and there when you need them, at a distance when you don't
We celebrated our anniversary and they provided additional flourishes and surprises. this is a mark of a wonderful restaurant. This is the second time we celebrated our anniversary there -
Love this place- our favorite romantic spot in the city. Wonderful service, delicious food and warm space.
Restaurant menu had many diverse options. The entrees were under-sauced/flavored, though cooked perfectly; the appetizers and desserts were delicious. Service excellent.
I wish I had known the chicken entree was bone in.
Attended during restaurant week special lunch menu....otherwise might be too expensive for non-business customer. Classy place....classy service.....great food and presentation. Heck....if the King of Spain eats there....it’s good enough for non-royals....lol.
It's restaurant week in DC and La Taberna was the perfect place to try something new. I always enjoy tapas but the delicate touch and presentation of the food here was spectacular. The portions were perfect and every dish tasted better than it looked. Our service was excellent; my water was refilled several times and each course was spaced out perfectly. I can't wait to go back and try the sangria or more tasty dishes.
It was not up to my expectations. The tuna salad with potatoes was rather potatoes with almost no tuna. It my previous visits the quality of food was much better.
Work day lunch, wanted to try someplace new, the food was superb. Watermelon gazpacho was surprisingly creamy and full flavored, but not heavy. Veal was excellent and cooked exactly as I had requested. My guest had the salmon which she thoroughly enjoyed. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The ambiance alone would bring me back even if the food wasn't exceptional.
Restaurant Week was underwhelming. I've been here on several occasions, and the food is usually excellent. This time, it was just OK. Nothing terrible by any means, but nothing particularly interesting or imaginative. I was attracted to their RW menu that listed several vegetarian dishes - both appetizers and entrees - but the dishes I had were nothing to write home about. Service was also slow, but this likely was due to RW crowds. I'll come back, but not during Restaurant Week.
nice spot for a quick lunch. has a spanish vibe, but also very DC-esque.
Elegant atmosphere in red with white trim, and attentive servers. Enjoyed trying dishes in Restaurant Week, particularly liked the salmon in pastry with vegetables. Good win list.
A true gem. Fine Spanish dining. Wait staff so friendly.
Hadn't been for some time, but Restaurant Week reminded us how great this place is!
The restaurant week lunch menu was very nice, although the dessert donut was a little too stiff for me. I have no idea whether it is supposed to be that stiff though.
Outstanding service by our waiters Edgar and Alejandro. Will come back.
Excelente servicio y excelente comida, además el lugar es elegante y muy agradable
I love authentic Spanish food. If you do too, La Taberna del Alabardero is a must. The jamon serrano is the real deal and it is sliced right there in the dining room. The pulpo was tender and the paella was made to perfection. The wine list extensive with a wide range of prices. Our server, Alejandro was extremely professional and pleasant. Whenever I'm in DC I'll be dining at La Taberna.
Excellent food and service! We would like definitely go back!
Service and food were awesome! My friends and I enjoyed the dinner very, very much!
I loved it. The food was perfect. Service was great. I will return, for sure.
Absolutely fantastic Spanish cuisine and tremendous continental service.
The service left quite a bit to be desired. It was somewhat slow and disorganized. The dish I ordered did not have all the ingredients (i.e. lobster) spelled out on the menu. The waiter remedied this, but the excuse was that the particular dish was being served for the first time and the cooks were confused. I had expected more, quite frankly.
I just loved the additonal touch of flowers (rose petals) on the table and the dessert at the end. The food was exquisite. Loved that the resturant is so elegant.
Fantastic dinner and wonderful service...we were celebrating a birthday and they treated us so well. The tapas menu is incredible and the main courses were so good. Can't wait to go back.
Went on a date night w my husband. Food was wonderful and the music was fantastic.
Excellent tapas menu with wonderful wine selection.
