Excellent tapas menu with wonderful wine selection.
Service was slow at first, then improved significantly. Food was very good. The only disappointment was a very loud patron at the bar.
this place is great. wonderful food, very classy, my date loved it.
Wonderful spot for an anniversary dinner! The good was excellent, authentic continental Spanish cuisine (I am from Tampa, FL and have eaten Spanish food there for many years, including at the Columbia in Ybor City). Service was not intrusive and allowed for a nice, relaxed pace; staff also added some very nice touches for our anniversary, including champagne! My only suggestion would be to chill the Crema Catalana - it tastes better that way. Thank you for a very nice evening!
outstanding and authentic food, with exceptional service.
Had to return filet twice to get it cooked properly
Taberna del Alabardero never disappoints! Excellent service and food! We had a great time. It was my friend's birthday, and the staff made her feel very special--they even gave her a b-day card! Hand written! It was the first time my friend went to the Taberna. She was super impressed by the courteous and refined manners of all staff and the food was great. Best birthday celebration!
Excelente as always. We are frequent diners.
Excellent excellent service not cheap but value for price. Strongly recommend.
The paella was bland and the drinks were average at best. The flamingo dancing was a nice treat, but not enough to save the meal and drinks.
The food , service, ambiance was good, we had the lobster paella as main dish and tapas as appetizer.
I have been here several times. Always great. They did a nice job of acccomodating me. The fish and wines were brilliant. I will be back
Overall quite nice. We dined here many years ago shortly after it opened and remembered it fondly. We were fairly close to the bar and it was very noisy which detracted from our experience. We had just returned from a trip to Barcelona so we were looking forward to some great Spanish food. The tapas were great, the wine was excellent and the wait staff were informative, polite, respectful and very pleasant. Personally I was looking forward to a good seafood paella but the only one on the menu was a lobster paella and I wasn't interested. I had the chicken and rabbit paella and was a little disappointed. The rice flavor was fabulous but overall it lacked the punch that I was anticipating from a good saffron infused seafood paella. Maybe I don't know my cuisine well enough to have such expectations. My wife and our guests were very happy with their choices one of which was this same paella that I had. Overall I strongly recommend the restaurant but maybe ask for a table away from the bar.
Have eaten lunch here before, so was very disappointed when it fell short this time. We ordered the Executive Lunch 3-course special and the soup was good, but the entrees were terrible. The cod was undercooked and the poached egg on the other was barely warm and barely cooked at all when I asked for it to be poached medium. It was over artichokes and mushrooms which were rather tough and bland. Overall, it was a very expensive lunch and not very edible. The service was also slow and the restaurant was not full, so no excuse. My advice is to order the tapas - they are much better quality-wise and a better value, too.
The Taberna was recommended by Jose Luis, the chef of a tapas joint in Madrid. He came out to greet us and I commented that it was hard to get authentic Spanish tapas in the US. He said you have to try the Taberna de Abelardo in Washington DC. We did and were warmly received and very well attended. (And again greeted personally by the chef). The food was super and the ambiance just right -- busy without being congested and classy without being 'exclusive'. We loved the place and have already recommended it to friends.
The host, waiters were really friendly and fun to deal with.
The food was also very good. It is a Spanish Restaurant. Considering it is an upscale restaurant the prices are within reason.
I had my Mother’s Day brunch at the restaurant. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Will definitely visit again!
Yet another wonderful meal at Taberna that has maintained its old world charm, friendly professional staff and excellent food for years. Thank God you exist Taberna. You never let us down.
Our waiter, Alejandro, was excellent! The Rioja recommended was delicious.
They really made our anniversary special. We had rose petals in our table, awesome service and mouth watering food and sangria.
A group of 7 celebrated 2 birthdays in the private Library Room (seats 8). We enjoyed the Iberico Ham appetizer, the whole Pig served with salad and potatoes, vegetable paella, and various desserts and beverages. The food and beverages were magnificent and the private room enabled great conversation without having to speak above others.
The servers were excellent and carefully explained which food items to avoid based on our allergies. They were available when we needed them but never intrusive. They are a wonderful team.
A great time was enjoyed by all. We highly recommend La Taberna Del Alabardero restaurant. Don’t miss the flamenco dancing, when available. Lots of fun.
Excellent spot for a business lunch. Love the ambiance - formal and authentic. Best lunch deal is the weekly "Executive Menu" - $32 for three courses. Always a very creative choice.
I enjoy the tapas selection
The brunch options where very limited. Quality was good.
Should include more Spanish Main courses as part of the brunch.
Entertainment was added plus with flamenco dancers and guitarist. Disappointed with food. Had 2 appetizers of octopus and calamari and both bland.
Ordered 3 paella’s and also bland and very little seafood, mostly rice. I have had better.
Sangria,homemade very good.
I travel to Washington DC from time to time on a regular basis and this may sound boring to some but I use this restaurant almost exclusively in the time in DC to host friends, business acquaintances and to conduct business. The team from Maitre D' to the servers and helpers are all professional, extremely courteous and authentic. Makes it a pleasure always. Food is of the highest quality, well presented and good variety without being excessive. Menu is changed regularly and always interesting. Never had a bad experience in over 10 years!
Executive lunch menu is perfect in terms of creative cuisine, value, and simply delicious!
Food and ambiance were great. Although somewhat pricey, options, food/drink quality and service are without par.
Excellent brunch. Truly enjoyed the ambiance and the Spanish guitar as we feasted on this most unique menu. A real departure from most Sunday brunch menus. Loved it.
Ambiente súper agradable , servicio magnífico y la comida estupenda me hizo sentir como si estuviera en casa
Excellent as always.
Amazing Paellas and shrimp garlic sauce. Everything is great at this restaurant
This restaurant has top notch service. However, we ordered tapas that were heavy and not up to past eating experiences at other restaurants. The desserts were good. It is expensive and the food should be better.
Wonderful atmosphere. The host always makes me feel extra special. The Executive Lunch is excellent: feast for the eyes as well as delicious!
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food and the very best attentive service. One of my favorites of all time.
Service was first class and the food was exquisite.
Great food and wine. Awesome spanish cuisine and and knowledgeable waitstaff. Appropriate wine pairings!
Exquisite food, beautifully served. You can't miss here.
The taps are culinarily creative and well portion to share. The lobster paella was delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked. Cracking open the lobster was our only struggle.
