Gourmet food prepared with fresh ingredients and exceptional skill. Restaurant decoration is elegant and service is extraordinary. I highly recommend it.
Such a great experience, The food and the ambience was amazing
Our last night of our winter trip to DC! Food was amazing and the service courteous and friendly. One of my all time favorites we have to come back soon.
We had lobster paella and a couple of tapas, dessert mmmm
We have walked by many time and always thought it looked lovely, romantic and finally made reservations for an intimate, late Valentine's Day dinner date. Everyone there was attentive, thoughtful, well versed in wine selections, food selections (this was our first experience in authentic Spanish cuisine and we were beyond happy with the service and attentiveness of all the staff members. FREE coat check, parking. The pricing was a bit high but we only splurge like this once a few times a year so it was worth it
This place was incredible, we went there for Valentine’s Day and they focused on all the details and ambiance. Blew me away!
Yes. Wonderful dining room with attentive service.
We celebrated our anniversary and arrived to a personalized card, rose pedals on the table, and excellent service and food. Cozy with a sence of beautifully toned ambiance and delightful tapas to fuel a romantic date!
We went for Valentine's Day dinner. Very good service and food was excellent. They provide a set menu and all the dishes were delicious. But it was very pricey.
We had a great time at it was our first time here. My fiancé choose this place it had good reviews and was highly recommended by his friend. Great choice good food, excellent services.
We went to this restaurant because it was close to our hotel and it had a good rating. Service was reasonable, but the food wasn't. Pulpo ceviche was too chewy, and the paella was too greasy and didn't have a good flavor. Overpriced.
As always, our experience at La Taberna was excellent in every respect. The staff are so welcoming and the food is wonderful. Our thanks to the sommelier for expanding our understanding of Spanish wines further, we thoroughly enjoyed the bottle she introduced us to.
Would highly recommend to a friend. Excellent ambience, excellent service and excellent food. Would definitely come back again!
Service is the best in town
I would absolutely recommend La Taberna to a friend! They were super friendly and attentive. My boyfriend and I were celebrating my birthday and they greeted us with a hand written card to me! We also got a cupcake with a candle and free rice pudding. Overall, excellent place. I can't think of anything I would change!
Always a great experience to dine there.Flamenco great, too.
I have been a patron since it opened. Regular there. For 2 decades.
My favorite in DC
High quality in terms of food, wine list and service. Very satisfied.
Maintains a robust standard and decor improved with the renovation.
Love this restaurant but their Restaurant Week menu was quite disappointing. The food was not the usual high quality. The paella was over cooked, service slow, and desserts were also not impressive. Too bad
My friend and I went for lunch during restaurant week. We had been during a previous restaurant week and were surprised that they did not have paella as one of the options, considering that is what they are known for. This restaurant week - paella was on the menu. Caveat - it had to be ordered for two. We started out with the patatas bravas. My friend's had a hair in it! They took it back and gave her a new one. Save for that, they were good. We ordered the vegetable paella. It was very good except that it had a little too much oil. For dessert, I had the creme brulee. It was good. My friend had their version of king cake. She didn't like it. I didn't mind it. Their olive bread is also very tasty. So, the meal was fine (save for the hair) and the fact that they need to have their curtains cleaned.
Excellent paella. Very professional service. Feels like Spain. Intend to come back.
Anniversary. Great experience!
Wonderful place. My favorite special occasion restaurant.
Delicious paella and desserts! The restaurant week deal is well with the money.
Excelent food ! Great service, autentic spanish food.
The older bald guy wearing tux was a little rude when we requested extra seat for another friend who’s coming. He said “this should be the last one, give me a break.” Overall, I like the experience.
Service was excellent. The food was good but very little of it. Atmosphere was very nice and quiet
Restaurant week food could improve more by including Paella on the menu. Appetizers were best thing on the RW menu, entrees were ok and desserts weren’t good unless you upgrade.i really didn’t care for soupy chocolate and chicken/ potato... but too boring.
Wasn’t too impressed this time.
We usually go to La Taberna del Alabardero for lunch, where we enjoy tapas, sangria and impeccable service. We went during Restaurant Week and did not have very good service. We sat down and waited for more than 10 minutes for someone to come over. We ended up flagging a bus boy, who said he would get our waiter. Our waiter was impatient when he came over to take our drink order. It took another 7-10 minutes for the drinks to appear. It then took our waiter another 10-15 minutes to take our order. After that, the service went pretty smoothly. The appetizers and main courses were good, but not very Spanish (i.e., risotto and pork curry). The lemon tart was fine, but the chocolate dessert was not good at all. It was basically a bowl of thick chocolate milk.
The best Spanish restaurant in DC. Añways consistent in quality
We went here for restaurant week. I just chose it because I wanted to try something new, and I love Spain. IT WAS AMAZING! I was not disappointed by anything. Everything was perfect.
Attended a business meeting during restaurant week. Service was slow. I ordered from the tapas menu, the potato omelet and grilled asparagus. Both were good. My manager ordered from the restaurant week menu. The appetizers was supposed to be a war dish but was cool. He liked his entree. Dessert, a chocolate mousse dish was very good.
Went to for Restaurant week, the lunch has good quality. The first course I had salmon tartar, good balance, salmon was little bit chewy but taste is good. The second course I had fried cod, the fish was tender and sauce was tasty. The dessert I had is the Spanish tradition cake, fruity cream. The first and second courses sizes were quite small, couple tablespoon full. The cake was full size. I was stuffed by the cake.
We have been dinning at La Taberna for years and we always choose it for celebrations. The food is excellent and the service is the best !! The waiters are very cordial and have a profound knowledge of the menu, they are super attentive-
I highly recommend this restaurant-
I have been to this restaurant before for the paella and it was great. However, when I went back yesterday for the Restaurant Week lunch special, the food was TERRIBLE.
I went here for Restaurant week, thought a good idea to try the menu that way.
Service was adequate, not too special. Our waiter mostly just seemed impatient, borderline annoyed with us. We were not in a huge rush, so took our time perusing the fixed menu.
Some of the dishes were excellent, well, one was Excellent: Salmon Tartare, delicious.
My entree: Trout something was barely adequate, dry, fairly tasteless, basically told my date she could try if she wanted to, but not really worth it.
Desserts also just okay, I got some chocolate mousse/soup thing, ehh, they offered to replace, so I tried lemon custard, it was better, but nothing spectacular.
Overall, felt a little rushed and just an annoyance to staff who had to be polite for Restaurant Week.
I won't be going back anytime soon, or ever, probably, too many choices in DC.
Went there for restaurant week during lunch - what a steal! Great food, service and a good time catching up with friends. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion and any time.
We went for Restaurant Week to try a new place, something a bunch of us from the office do every year. It was a lot fun and yummy food.
Everything great all around. Great food and attentive servers.
Consistently good food and wine selection, great old world ambience and excellent service. Staff at Taberna are simply the best. Been going in this restaurant for years whether for special occasions, business lunch or dinner and just relaxing with family or family, friends and colleagues.
It was to celebrate a Birthday. It is a special place to celebrate any occasion.
