La Strada Dolci e Caffe - Italian Bistro
This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to! Food is always delicious and the servers are so nice!
We had an absolutely beautiful time at La Strada Dolci e Caffee for dinner. It was a beautiful summer night and we sat outside. The service was great, and the food was delicious. Best pasta we've had in a very long time!
I decided to come back to this place after a couple of previous disappointments hoping that things got better. The main problem remained the same. The on line menu has quite a variety of appealing things. Unfortunately the ones we wanted the most were not available. The salmon was not available. The hamburger was not available. If you can’t provide a hamburger at your place, this is absolutely pathetic.
The food was overall good but the pear tart was brought to us out of the refrigerator. It was cold and besides that a little unappealing with almost a non existing pear topping. Prices are quite high for what you have to offer.
The waitress was nice trying very hard to make excuses for the things not available on the menu.
My suggestion is to redo your on line menu and let the customers know what you are able to offer at your place.
Great food and service. I look forward to going back again.
Great dining experience!
I have no idea what all the hype is about this restaurant. It’s so loud you can not have a conversation with the person you’re dinning with. You can certainly hear everyone else’s. The tables are crowded, the wine list is pitiful, the wait staff are nonexistent. When they do appear, they are rude, & uninterested. This may be a result of not being able to hear you. The menu is boring. They now have a chalk board that the waitstaff covet. When they do present it, the items are 2-3 times the price of they’re regular menu. I ordered a pasta dish looking forward to tasting they’re homemade pasta & ingredients. I received over cooked pasta to the point of being sticky, & tasteless. The sauce was basically nonexistent. I was going to send it back until an irate guest started screaming about waiting 45 minutes for his order. He paid for his beverage, & exited. AHh, the lucky one. If you should need to use the restrooms, bring you’re hand sanitizer. The one restroom that was functioning was filthy, with a nonfunctional faucet. It made me question where the employees wash they’re hands ...
I have been here twice using Open Table for my reservation. Both times they’re was no record of it. I proceeded to pull it up on my phone, like I did the first time. I was rudely told it was my mistake.
I will not be back, & would strongly recommend against dinning their.
Reservations at 6:15 ordered by 6:30 a d by 7:45 we still had not received our entrees. Told by the owner, unapologetically, that “good food takes time to prepare”! He just lost 2 customers plus....
I’ve been enjoying this restaurant for a few years. Food is great. Enjoy the ambiance. Outdoor seating available. A must try.
A neighborhood gem....fun friendly and engaging. We had a nice meal that everyone enjoyed. It is not quiet but is festive and friendly. The wine was outstanding . Casual dining at its best
This was our first time in for dinner and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We have been here for breakfast which is also very good. We felt that the desserts were about average. The owner was very helpful with the wine selection. We will be back!!
One of our favorite local restaurants. Great meal and service every time.
Outstanding meal. We had pasta in a mushroom truffle sauce and a salad. Really great meal. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great place to celebrate our anniversary. We recommended it to our family and friends.
Had dinner with a friend one evening and sat outdoors. The appetizer (Peppers with Italian Sausage) was excellent. My main course of Veal Scaloppini was also excellent. The noise level outside was low except for an occasional moron passing in a sports car.
La Strada is truly a gem. The atmosphere and authentic food really makes it feel like Italy!
Best Italian in the area
Excellent service and delicious authentic food!
Everything was outstanding. Service (thank you, A.J.), food, wine -- highly recommend.
Pros: Cute cafe, great food, very nice gentleman host that greeted us. Cons: Unfortunately we had a bad server. Service was super slow. She wasn't attentive and was rude. We went to La Strada for breakfast. The server gave me one cup of coffee and never asked if I would like another nor did she ever come back to check on us in 45 minutes. My 16 year old son went to find her and ask her if our food was coming soon. He said that she barely acknowledged him and didn't even turn around to talk to him. She was not with another customer so he wasn't interrupting her at all. Our food order, plain crepes and egg dish took over 50 minutes, which is a very long time to wait for breakfast. They charged extra for syrup (does not come with plain crepes). My son ordered a side of toast, and we were charged extra for the tablespoon of jelly. That was a surprise - usually jelly/jam would be included especially if we are paying extra for the toast?
The waitress was not an asset to La Strada. She is the reason we will go elsewhere. Food was good, but service was not.
It’s nothing magical - the pasta is fresh but the flavors were bland. The buratta and bruschetta were amazing. The service was meh. I’m not racing back but it’s. A good more low key option compared to many places in Birmingham.
The food was very flavorful, but the crepes are a rather small portion and the final straw was when we ordered a side of bacon and literally one strip on a huge rectangular plate was served. For $6! Also they made the French press carafe smaller. We used to get 2 Teacups each. So value not so good.
But we loved the back dining area. The middle area was a tad busy it seemed in the way so we asked to move and we were accommodated. Service is excellent.
Food was delicious and very authentic Italian. Service just a little slow. Overall, a wonderful experience.
The waitress was very nice at the beginning, but when we said we'd just have some coffee, she really shut her face and was not as nice as before.
We ordered food and it was brought to our table cold. When sent back, they just reheated it instead of making new pizza. Then my husbands pasta was brought out cold and they just swished it in a pan to reheat. We have been there before but may not be there again
Great food and service, but way too loud, and nothing special decor wise.
We had a lovely time with our parents ! The food was great everyone just enjoyed themselves which was much needed . From start to finish there was not one thing on the table that was not fantastic !
Perfect in every way.
There were lots of young children running around and screeching. Parents didn't seem to care much. Otherwise, a lovely Easter meal
From the minute we walked in to the minute we left, service was spectacular. We had Easter lunch as a family and all of our meals were perfect. Hard to find places that can beat this experience.
Food was amazing and of great quality ! It was as if we were transported back to Italy : Do not walk out without trying the Italian hot chocolate - decadent
Great food, very good service, great coffee and beverages
Had a wonderful brunch with my husband. We shared crepes and frittata that was outstanding! Best latte I’ve had in a long time! Highly recommend 😊
Appetizers and pizza were great. Excellent ingredients. The pasta and veal were mediocre. Not terrible. Great location and venue so depending on what you’re looking for it could be okay. I would not recommend for a traditional dinner. Drinks and appetizers or wine and pizzza before a movie I would come back for.
Birmingham’s best kept secret. The food is excellent and the service makes an everyday meal feel like a special treat. This place is a gem. Delicious Italian food.
Love the food, atmosphere and the service! My only complaint is they pour a short pour.
It’s a gem. A very special place. Our favorite The service is amazing and food is outstanding and very authentic Italian.
As always, the food was amazing. Service impeccable. The wine delicious and was a great pairing with the food choices we made. They had several specials that evening: We chose the Lasagna Bianco and the swordfish, a ceasar salad to share and then their housemade Ricotta Cheesecake (which you have to reserve a piece especially if you'd like one.) Overall a wonderful evening and will definitely be back.
The service was outstanding-- very attentive and helpful in selecting our entrees. We all like to share our meals, so we all ordered something different. As expected, some of the selections were more flavorful than others, so we know which entrees to steer toward in the future. In all, we were very impressed with the ambiance and the service, and we will definitely return in the future.
Our meal was outstanding.
All four of us enjoyed the service and the quality of the food.
We will definitely look forward to coming back.
